For anyone wondering its a in-game challenge to kill both gigantes without using the lava pit. plus you get a yellow gemstone and a red beryl for killing both. The lava pit in remake is for the sake of speed running this fight on hardcore and professional mode. If your saving up money for the infinite rocket launcher its best to kill them the old fashion way
Small stuns don't work, you have to make them topple over. When you get the prompt to jump on their back and use the knife, you can open the lava pit instead.
I just lure the normal one to the middle and toss a flash bang to stun it and then drop it in there. As for the armored one, I just assumed you couldn’t drop him in the pit either way.
I went into the fight on hardcore difficulty expecting hell. I just stunned the normal one with a flash bang and dropped it in the lava. Didn’t even waste any bullets on the armored one, I just ran around until Luis drops the dynamite. Pulled out the Stingray and missed my first shot, then hit the dynamite with the second shot. Then when I ran up to start stabbing him, he immediately died after one right of stabbing. I was floored at how easy the fight ended up being.
