- The CDC Neversink Caddis is an awesome caddis pattern that floats great and catches fish. I love fishing caddis patterns. I tend to do a lot of dry dropper style of fishing and am always looking for flies that float well and will hold up my nymphs. I tie this one in a size 14 in the video which is a little bit big for matching the hatch in my area but will be good for holding up a nymph. If I'm tying this to match the hatch it would be better tied in a size 16 or 18. You could also add some Fulling Mills Ultra Dry Yarn on top of this fly for a sighter.
If you need any of the materials to tie this fly or other patterns please go to our website, www.holsingers... for all your needs. Also you can email me directly at holsingersflyshop@gmail.com if you would like me to tie any of these flies for you or would be interested in a guided trip. Thanks for watching and supporting our shop and channel over the years.

You are a beautiful fly tyer. And the tips you incorporate, like a couple of wraps through the butt ends of the deer hair to secure them and how to apply floatant to CDC feathers, simply phenomenal.
That’s a lot Bob. I really like this pattern. I’ve been using it a lot lately
Thanks, Shawn. I really like this pattern and am thinking of other flies to make unsinkable. Keep them coming. God Bless n Fish 🐟 on!
Thanks a lot. It floats great but it’s also very natural looking. That’s the best part
Hi Shawn. Oh yeah, very nice looking bug. Should work everywhere there’s caddis. Thanks for showing it to us.
Thanks Tom. Glad you like it.
Nice tie, Shawn. That's gotta be a good floater. When you used the term "unsinkable" it reminded me of an angler I encountered years ago. He was fishing what I thought was a Goddard caddis, but corrected me and called it, "the HMS Unsinkable."
I never heard of the HMS Unsinkable before. I’ve also never tied a Goddard Caddis. I just don’t spend enough time spinning deer hair. Notice I still don’t have a video on a muddler minnow. 😆
Looks great. I have been doing more and more dry flies on a dropper with my euro rod, thanks to Josh Miller, I then only fish the nymph on shallow riffles and then dry dropper in deeper dropper water when I know the fish are actively feeding. Has been working like a charm the last few weeks.
Tying a few up with some pink color on top so I can see it better.
Yes Josh is a master of the dry dropper. I picked up some tips from Josh and a learned most of my dry dropper techniques from Josh’s fellow youth team coach Gordon Vanderpool. It’s such a deadly technique that I sometimes lean on it too much.
This will work great with a sighter on top.
Now thats a Hunter Shawn, God Bless
I think your amazing and communicate very well
