Yes, I know that there is a newer Brandenburg than Ludi. In which part of Germany is united surprisingly quickly. However, mine was originally recorded over a month ago and has been waiting for translation until now ;P

For Ansbach, it's possible to feed them the provinces befor inheriting them. A bonus is that you then get these lands without ae. For example allying and chain claim to the south.
Btw espionage also indirectly helps with sieges. A spy network increases siege ability. And combins good with offensive.

It's hard to gain money in Northern Germany but I do my best to control the Lubeck trade node completely and the Baltic area as fast as possible. With control of those 2 trade regions you can pull a large amount of money out of Russia. Aside from that try to spawn Faceting in Danzig, and develop the Prussian provinces as much as possible. Biggest problem really comes down to governing capacity. I will say typically I'm about 50 years slower in my conquest of Germany, but that's probably because I'm trying to fix my finances more than conquer everything.

You don't want to pull all trade from Germany to one place. You want to collect in multiple places. Main node in Lubeck, yes, to compete with Denmark, but also merchants in rhinelande and saxony set to collect, not transfer. Alternatively - pillage Denmark

I think the Berlin event doesn't change the province name but changes the name of the province "capital" from Berlin-Cölln to Berlin. (There were to adjacent towns. Cölln was the southern part of todays Museum Island, Berlin was across the river, to the east.)

You are exactly correct. In the beginning of the game, the capital of the province of Berlin is Berlin-Cölln. As part of the event chain to develop Berlin into a city worthy of being a proper capital of a German Kingdom, the two cities were united, and several crossings over the river that separated them were made. It's all in the event text if you bother to read it. Really cool stuff!

I’m doing a Brandenburg run right now. I didn’t go for the Czech lands or Hussite, but then I’m not trying to speed run. I lucked out as both Pomeranian states had weak allies, so I took Stolp, vassalized Wolgast and took both Stettin provinces. I had Austria and Poland as allies and timed my attack on Teutonic Order the moment Poland’s truce with them was up. That allowed me to take their 2 key provinces without giving Poland any land, and set their truce so they couldn’t eat the rest. I took the northern and Silesian lands from Bohemia but this ended my Polish alliance as they wanted Silesia. No problem there as I hit the Teutons the moment my truce was up so I didn’t give Poland anything from them. I experienced that terrible crashing bug that happens whenever the Burgundian succession doesn’t go to you, actually twice. I expect a war with France over taking all of Burgundy but instead they liked me and asked to ally…it was weird but I went for it. Now I have Austria/Hungary and France as allies and am eating most of the German lands. Fun stuff all around.

I'll be honest, I typically go for the Franconian missions, both as a sort of challenge, and to get the "When you promote a culture, you lose 3 AE" perk, but now that I think about it, the amount of AE you get doing the Franconian expansion, and how difficult it can be to beat all the alliances down there to get the required 5 provinces, may not really be worth the perks.
Still, I'm not generally speed forming Germany, since it takes Admin tech 20, so taking some time to follow those missions can be fun. Really hurts to have to deal with such crap rulers for so long, but if I recall correctly, I think Albert gets 2 military points if you complete the Franconian missions, raising him to a 2/2/3. Still not good, but better than the awful 2/2/1 he starts out as.
Edit: Also, while Hussite cannot convert to another religion, you do get an event asking if you want to swap to Protestantism or stay Hussite.

Can you do a colonial/trade game as Lubeck and maybe unite the Hansa or form a merchant Germany?

Sounds like an interesting idea for a campaign, I'll try it.

If you royal marry ansbach you can claim throne and instead of a pu just vassalize both. Thats what i did.

You can ignore Franconian Hohenzollern, but make heir general,he will probably have nice stats, so i won't reject free general

Wouldnt staying catolic and becoming papal controller be way better than going hussite?

    • @lookasetbella
      @lookasetbella  Год назад

It is, but the pope has ONE very big downside. It's RANDOM. And it's very hard to beat the Papal State. As Brandenburg, there is also not much of a way to generate Influ pap quickly. If you use the ALT F4 tactic every time you lose a game for pope, you can play like that. But I don't like to play with alt f4 to much

I think the comment about battles, I think it’s a skill thing. Think it’s safe to say that becoming a “veteran” eu4 player is realizing that sieges are more important than winning fights. So naturally you’ll take less fights

Once your army gets to a certain size, the AI will avoid it out of fear, and instead try to get around it and siege down unprotected parts of your nation. It's why I try to keep enough fort coverage to protect my entire nation's borders, in order to prevent buildup of devastation from all the occupations. This is very difficult as a horde, and I often don't bother, as you make more money razing and pillaging other nations than you do from your own land.
At that point, it's just a matter of sieging them down faster than they can siege you down. It's why, while I like cavalry, I've stopped using it, simply to afford more artillery for faster sieges. I try to get to the point where at least 1 army has 15 artillery, for that +5 vs their capital fort, and 10 artillery for any additional armies, for the +5 bonus on normal level 2 forts.

There is a differently funnier approach. ( Spy and Religious Ideas )
Start as Gotland and go for the 5% discipline. ( Conquer Lubeck )
Form the Hansa and go for another 5% discipline. ( The Hansa gives you huge bonus on the economy )
Form Prussia with 10% more discipline. xD
You also need to dismantle the HRE and you probably will take longer to conquer all Germany. Its doable, depending on some luck around 1550.
