I remember I must have no joked played it so many times I could do the rest of the boss fight with my eyes closed, but never the last part, they really should have nerfed it.
See i came up with a very helpful strategy on the 3rd phase, its super simple and it makes it real quick. Don't tap the Y button, slide you finger up and down across the Y button and it really helps, try it next time
It's very validating seeing others struggled with the second mash; I tried beating him for an hour straight and got so mad I tore my DS in half... it was the limited edition Triforce Gold version 😭

In the used one the previous owner had unlocked almost everything (Minus stage 10) so my sister decided to try the boss rush. I remember showering when my family heard her screaming and they rushed in and she came into the bathroom at full force: MASHTOOTH HAS A SECOND PHASE AND IT'S A DIAMOND IN THE MIDDLE!!! Proud to say that after 5 years I finished the second save file completely, Finished the Diamond, and now am suffering in world 10 because I'm not a speedrunner

There was a trick I always used to beat the part where you needed to spam y to win. I would always keep one finger in the start button to pause the game at any time to rest and I’d keep my thumb/strongest finger on the y button. The strategy never failed.

Pro tip for anyone who can’t beat the second mashing part (seriously, this works): Slide your finger from side to side across the Y button rapidly. You’d be shocked at how much more effective it is than just mashing.
