A few years ago I was buying Jeep Wrangers TJ’s with rotten frames and rebuilding them. At the time my son needed his first car and did one for him, it was a 2000 model year. He used this jeep for about 3 years and finally sold it to a friend and it’s still running. I did about 10 of these jeep in all. Great son / father bonding.
Simon..your enthusiasm brightens everybody’s day! Good work on finding such an appropriate car for George…he will be the envy of his friends in their white Nissan Micra’s!! Ten things better than The Stig??….Well No.1 is it will be effortless at making your eyes go blurred…like riding a horse suffering from indigestion. No.2 It will rattle like mad over every bump. No.3 is it will do 25mpg. No4…no electrical issues as it doesn’t have much in the way of electronics, No5..be cheap to fix, No 6…he can carry sand and cement in it and nobody will ever notice, No.7…impress Mum as she will say it is like riding in a cart, No8. It will climb anything short of falling over backwards, No 9. Not depreciate given reasonable care and No. 10..make George laugh every time he drives it and give him special memories forever!! So a result!!!…but invest in a tin of paint for the bumper..it would look so much nicer!! We await reports and updates!!😎😎😎😎Richard.😀😀😀😀
Morning Richard - i think we will wait till he has passed his test and driven a little before investing in painting ! So far it looks good - George and Mrs Powerful are happy so thats a good start. The only problem is that i need to make sure i dont break it before George can even drive it !
@@L663 The wax type rustproofing not done at the factory, these Jimnys only have to see a salty road and they start rusting, especially chassis box sections and area behind headlights and the boot floor!! Like the wheel rims.
Great little car and capable off road..many here in Tasmania and Aus with v strong following with the off road mob.. Just suffer from a lack of clearance off road but they r tough as nails. Good buy!
Many enthusiasts lift the suspension, which is relatively easy on these apparently, to sort out the ground clearance They’re vary capable off road for such a little vehicle.
Good luck George, looks like it will make a great car. If you want to do a bit more controlled pulling to straighten anything out it might be a good excuse to use the Defender winch 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Simon. Great video George must be chuffed. To straighten that tow bar I would have used an ordinary ratchet strap. Secured to something stationary, get Tyler to apply some heat to the metal whilst you operate the ratchet. That way you have a controlled application to get a more accurate line-up. Great first car though.
The non Sticks have a bit of family history with Suzuki. I had an LJ80 many moons ago, that was taken over by my Dad who upgraded to the SJ 413 pickup. Lovely little trucks. Glad you like the strap but may I suggest a bit of basic trading in recovery techniques 😉Good luck with Suzi. Non Stick Nick
Great video and a wonderful first car for George - we await the off-road videos of you in the Stig and George in the Jimnny. You should make a complaint to the auction place and the advertising standards authority about "false advertising" as the actual milage was about x3 what was advertised. You may get a percentage of the price you paid back for this. At least worth a try as people should not get away with fasle advertising - especially as the actual milage was clear in the paperwork supplied, there was no excuse.
Theres a good reason why loads of french farmers and lots of people who live in the mountains buy jimnys , no doubt George will find out the first time he takes it off road. Great first car 👍
@@L663 that’s the one! We didn’t even get ours serviced. Just headed off and hoped for the best. Exhaust fell off at the manifold in Budapest, but a £10 welding job and she never skipped another beat!
Thats great 👍 love the Suzukis. I've got rid of the Jeep and got a 2004 Grand Vitara now. You'll have to bring them along to 4x4 Days with the other Suzukis we get along. They do an amazing job in the wet there 😁
All cars a crazy at the moment - these Jimnys are not as cheap as i was hoping but i think it should be a great first car / fuel economy / insurance / safe etc
Good question - I think it would be good for the RUclips channel as a lot people would like to see it being used but we are trying to look in a different direction... we are looking more towards a Rivian.... we like old stuff and we like new stuff.... not sure i like new stuff that is not new....
Copart are complete mugs. Thet tried to tell me my Mitsubishi Evo 8 was a write off when someone scratches the bumper. I had to argue with my insurers (who sold themselves as import and rare car specialists) that it WASN'T a normal Lancer worth £800. I was so angry. And it was CoPArt trying to tell my insurers (long story) that it wasn't worth anything. Anyway, awesome little car. I love Jimny's. Congrats George
Congratulations George! A very nice car! Amazon Japan (you can set to English language) has a plethora of after-market parts for the Jimny. In Japan, there are two versions. The normal Jimny is just 'JImny' and has a narrower wheel tread with a 660CC engine. Yours would be a Jimny Sierra in Japan as it has a wider axle and extended wheel arches. It would also be classified as an 'ordinary vehicle' as opposed to the Jimny which is a 'kei' car. So search for Suzuki Jimny Sierra on Japanese websites. Enjoy your first car! I am curious to know as to why so many Japanese vehicles (SUV/off-roaders) have tail lights in the bumper whereas in Japan they do not. Yet, similar European vehicles often do not. What is the reasoning for this? It obviously is adhering to some vehicle regulations, but for which country and why I am not so sure (I can make an educated guess, but a guess is ultimately only a guess). If anyone knows, please kindly enlighten me.
Hi Andrew - George and I love Kei cars - some really cool designs etc The bumper lights are to do with the rear doors opening and obscuring the rear lights with the rear door mounted spare wheel - the crazy thing is the new Defender has this problem - how Land Rover do away with this is unbelievable ! ( this is my understanding at least )
Love your parts .(not relevant for this video) bought the viscous far removal tools for my l320 .. 2 min job ..last time without took 2hrs ... suzuki are great .. the 16v fits from its big sister
I know I am old and I know I am probably out of touch but did you say 12k ???? and you paid 6K ???? Yes we may look at some little lift spacers on the springs
A perfect first/project car for George - How cool is the low range gear box. Many congrats - Drive safe George.
It looks like a proper 4x4 just shrunk !
Very nice! Lucky guys - I wish they were available in the old colony!

Cracking wee project for a first car. Looking forward to more videos..
Thanks 👍
Should be a brilliant first car, I've not driven one but it's predecessor SJ110 we're great off road. It's a proper little 4x4.
Its classic 4x4 architecture just tiny !

Thanks for the rope - it did the trick and will now live in the Jimny ! More adventures to come !
Nice little 4x4 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
George needs to watch Landrover Sophie on you tube. He wouldn’t want an original defender then, she totally rebuilds all her land rover’s herself!

For a first car it's fantastic. Very nice and am sure it will get a couple of more dints.
I am just worried i will break it before George !
Drove a 53 plate Jimny to Mongolia for charity. It’s a cracking little car.
My friend did the mongul rally in a Fiat Punto - we did the expedition prep for him and went to London to see him off.

12th March will be the next date but tickets aren't on sale yet. I'll send you the link when they are available and save you a space.
Thats a nice chunky power washer, which one is that?
Is that the allusive 10mm socket George is determined to lose 🤣
Great idea , ive been wanting one of these but the automatics are scandals prices

It will be good to know what the MOT tester makes of your repair
Are you casting doubt on my repair techniques ! ( OK fair point )
Love these little Suzukis
Looking at the comments there is a lot of Suzuki love out there.... and i can see why
Take the K&N and throw it in the bin and put the original air filter back in. The Jimny is getting a big following down in Aus
If its doing well in Aus then it must be good - you guys are the kings of off roading !
Nice, is that ramp a DIY? I like it would like to build my own :)
They are from a company called "carstages"
Always thought about getting one for a bit of off light roading but not sure it would fit my 6ft 7in frame
Well Tyler fits in it .... and i think he is about the same height !
Loads of mods to have .. silicone insetrs for springs lifts it quite a bit too
This one sounds good - I need to look at this !
The insulation on the firewall goes that green/black colour on all of them.
Thanks - i was starting to wonder if it was the sea air !

I think copart should have spotted the mileage error as it was in the documentation they sent me... but we are still happy with the deal.
Better than an old defender for him. Of course he should of had the Astra !
The Astra has low pressure issues - just fitted a replacement turbo and valve .... its on its last legs but i wont let it die !
