    Why can't these people understand? You can't be impersonating soldiers for your benefit. It's illegal and demeaning.

      Probably for the same reason you can't be assed to find out if someone is or is not a veteran before you start yelling at them to take off the uniform.

    • @section20survivor90
      @section20survivor90 9 лет назад +98

      ***** Yes, it is illegal. It's called Stolen Valor. Look it up. President Bush signed it into law, and President Obama amended it. But if you're making money while wearing a uniform or wearing medals you didn't earn, then yes, it's illegal. If you've never served you'll never understand. We have a bond of brotherhood with our fellow service men and women and our vets. When we lose one of our brethren, it hurts as if we lost one of our own family member. To see someone impersonate a service member is as insulting as it gets.

      ***** Actually, it is a real Law, the Stolen Valor Act was passed in 2013, and its federal.

    • @williambarnes5023

      *****
      The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 (Pub.L. 113-12; H.R. 258) is a United States federal law that was passed by the 113th United States Congress. The law amends the federal criminal code to make it a crime for a person to fraudulently claim having received any of a series of particular military decorations and awards with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit from convincing someone that he or she rightfully did receive that award.
      Since they are basing their panhandling on the premise of veterency, to obtain money, the Stolen Valor Act does apply...
      ...*if and only if the man is not actually a veteran.* Don't let the kneejerking assmunches here distract you from their need to prove that part.

But i feel if he was he would have look that big man in the eye's and told him what,who & how he served ect instead of running like a vet so that leads me to feel like dude was phony ya know so in reality both of these guys our wrong as hoes but the moral is life is hard...we don't know what that "phony" is going through & who he has to support.

    When I served in the military it was a little harder to make the points to be promoted so I invested years to making Sergeant. When I decided to return to the civilian way of life they made me sign a bar to reenlistment because they considered me a career soldier. The bar simply meant that I would just finish the time I had left but there would be no favorable actions on my behalf (such as promotions or schooling, etc). Had I changed my mind and stayed in, I would have immediately received the rank of Staff Sergeant for I had gained all the points needed and had done everything needed to be promoted. So, of course I get irritated when some schlub dresses up in uniform and acts like he's G.I. Joe. It's like presenting a false degree and this guy is right...his buddies died because they wore one of the uniforms of the armed forces. I myself had relatives who served in WWII, the American Revolution and one of my more distant relatives was one of the first 19 recepients of the Congressional Medal of honor. He escaped a Confederate prison and not just once. Had he not he most certainly would have been hanged as a spy. The guy was a character and probably would have put some buck shot in someone's butt for doing that...either that or they would have strung him up from a tree if they thought he was a spy. The uniform and the insignia of rank is precious to a soldier. And...it is a crime to impersonate an officer so think again before you don yourself in a uniform.
