I know him. He also dug through rubble at ground zero looking for people. Saved a baby's life during the middle of a flight a few years ago, and is extremely active in the veteran community. He's earned the right to do what he did.
Knee deep in a brothers blood. Working on a man who has been made into many pieces by the rage of a senseless conflict. Fighting death its self for his very soul. I don't know of a more demoralizing and damaging duty..
ShadowRaven yo the only reason Russia could fight off all those Germans was because that were severely outnumbered had little to no supplies to survive harsh weather and had expended to much of their military to deep into Russia too fast. In fact Russia was getting their asses handed to them at first but Germany was fighting a war in so many other places they were unable to supply much of the army on that front
For everyone saying "how do you know he wasnt a vet?" Lmao. A real veteran wouldnt start ripping their uniform off so quickly like he did. They'd start going off on the other veteran for accusing them of stolen valor. Also look at the dudes age and when the uniforms hes wearing came out. Definitely wasnt issued that uniform in his time. Super disrespectful to pose as a homeless veteran to tug on the emotional strings of everyone else around to get more hand outs.
You don't even know what stolen valor is. Look up the 2012 overturning of the Stolen Valor act of 2005 (because of 1st amendment rights), and see how it was replaced in 2013 with a very tightened definition, mostly involving medals. Nothing about a uniform applies. And certainly, nothing about panhandling.
So someone who is using a military uniform to lie & swindle people for their money and he deserves pity...Bulls***! The medic didn't touch him and did nothing wrong. People need to stop throwing around the word "bully" so often. If someone gets called out for being a LIAR, it's not "bullying," it's exposing him as a LIAR, plain and simple!
New Dizzy He's also not targeting him "for pure abuse," otherwise he wouldn't even bring up the uniform. He didn't say to stop panhandling, he said if you're going to do it take off the uniform, simple!
We live in a world filled with lies and liars. Unless their actions affect you in a personally-damaging kind of way, just ignore it. One has to feel some sympathy for the panhandler who's been reduced to begging. Not much of a life. The guy who chased him comes off as a blowhard bully who wears his honor on his sleeves.
Sorry. Not prentending to know the panhandlers circumstances but if i was homeless and didnt know where my next meal was coming from, posing as an army vet is the least of the atrocitities id commit to survive.
+Ryan Nold hes not being ignorant atall, not in any way because he clearly cares about the homeless man, much more that you or that aggressive man relentlessly following and harassing this clearly vulnerable homeless man, how in any way or form is wearing mitary cloths disrespectfull even if he is using it as a way to get more sympathy. it just sickens me, litterly it makes me sick the way military soldiers act, especially US army soldiers.
I don't agree with the real vet. The fake vet is on survival mode, he's doing what he needs to survive. Wearing a fake uniform is wrong, and disrespectful but it's his way of surviving...most of us aren't in a situation where we need to beg for money, so let's try not to judge other people.
All I can say is that if u haven't earned the uniform then you have no right what so ever to wear it. It should be impossible to get one of u haven't served in the first place

He should of handled it with respect and class and as a better person. Yeah maybe the bum was posing as vet but don’t lower your own standards. Why is it the people who never served in the military always has something negative to say about the people who risk their lives for them to live the way they do
Or maybe because the people in the military died less for us civilians and more for the powers that be. Either way I thank you for serving but if everyone is entitled to "liberty" which is what you fought for then that homeless man's 14th amendment should not have been impeded on right, soldier? Correct me if Ive mistaken!
@Jacob Strom Do you realize what you just said? "so they really aren't risking anything". Do you know what army veterans go through? Training, camp based activities, going to wars in different countries patriotism for their own country. To protect people like us at home.
A bully? Are you kidding? We send these men and women through brutal bootcamp to desensitize them in order to fight for our country. There is only so much you can take. Especially when you see someone blatantly disrespecting an honor that you fought to earn. His people died in that uniform. Id hit the ceiling worse than he did!
what gives a stranger the right to walk up to another person to start making demands? I'm a veteran, service connected and I don't have a veteran card, don't have a VA id card , no need for, I do have a health insurance card.
When I served in the military it was a little harder to make the points to be promoted so I invested years to making Sergeant. When I decided to return to the civilian way of life they made me sign a bar to reenlistment because they considered me a career soldier. The bar simply meant that I would just finish the time I had left but there would be no favorable actions on my behalf (such as promotions or schooling, etc). Had I changed my mind and stayed in, I would have immediately received the rank of Staff Sergeant for I had gained all the points needed and had done everything needed to be promoted. So, of course I get irritated when some schlub dresses up in uniform and acts like he's G.I. Joe. It's like presenting a false degree and this guy is right...his buddies died because they wore one of the uniforms of the armed forces. I myself had relatives who served in WWII, the American Revolution and one of my more distant relatives was one of the first 19 recepients of the Congressional Medal of honor. He escaped a Confederate prison and not just once. Had he not he most certainly would have been hanged as a spy. The guy was a character and probably would have put some buck shot in someone's butt for doing that...either that or they would have strung him up from a tree if they thought he was a spy. The uniform and the insignia of rank is precious to a soldier. And...it is a crime to impersonate an officer so think again before you don yourself in a uniform.
You work that CMH into conversation a lot? I've got to Bronze Stars and I say leave the homeless man alone. I can't imagine what kind of Medic this guy really was. It seems this Vet is lacking any empathy. If he doesn't like the way the uniform is being used by this homeless "grifter" (notice how the word grifter was used) well then he should hate the way his own government used him wearing the very same uniform!

Kudos to that gentleman. I'm quite sure he has seen horrific events leading to the injury or deaths of his fellow comrades. That uniform represents blood, sweat, tears, loyalty, commitment, and patriotism. To see a person flaunting it is hugely disrespectful.
When people impersonate veterans, it disrespects every military member. Most times they’re using it for personal gain. Stolen valor does not deserve pity. They deserve to be punished.

That is not bullying by definition. That is giving instructions how to stop illegal activities. People mixing up bullying and doing right/wrong things.
Pretending to be a veteran is disrespectful as well as illegal, but I doubt that most people would let that get in the way if it came down to either starving or pretending to be a veteran.
Yeah but if the panhandler was an actual vet, he would stand uo for himself and actually prove he is a vet. But he ended up walking away like a coward following orders.
@Adam Adams I would of taken my uniform off if someone was beating me up, too. I'm not a big guy, not really a fighter, either. Infact, I use to get pick on all the time when I was in the military.🙁
@Adam Adams yes, I leave it at home. My wallet got stolen once at the gym(in my locker) while I was working out. I carry as little as I can in my wallet, the more I carry, the more it's harder to get a new one. Their is no reason to carry it anyway. It's like I use to work for Sprint, there is no reason for me to wear that badge, anymore.
Any soldier can look at a uniform and Know if it's correct or not. Everything on a uniform is placed in pinpoint locations that a non military person would not be able to pick up on.

Stay vigilant good call good soldier
Reading your letter it appears the army should you no respect. You were a disposable career uniformed veteran!!!
