For me, as someone who had experience in stage productions, Direk Zig employed the so-called "theatre of the absurd" where the story is conveyed not by strong lines or actions but by settings and silent nuances in acting. Although it was a movie, the characteristics of this style was quite evident and, honestly, this is the first time I have seen this style in a movie. Yes, Direk Zig should have been the Best Director, for assisting/directing his actors to convey the story using simple line and simple actions. This, alone, is a feat in itself. Just my thoughts!!
I rate it 5/5, priority ko tlg n panoorin to nun pasko, pero guilty din n bec of SB19 and Nyebe un triggering point to watch MMFF. But while watching the movie, dun tlg ako na satisfied s kwento. My first reason kung bakit naging interesado ako sa Green Bones dahil sa Nyebe ng SB19 kaya I decided panoorin with my siblings kasi maganda rin naman ang trailer. Pero super worth it naman at walang pagsisisi kasi sobrang ganda ng movie. Actually naging eye opener nga siya sakin since this is also my first MMFF movie. Sabi ko sa sarili ko I will eye for a GMA Films sakaling magkaroon ulit sa susunod.
If "The Kingdom" sort of begs for a sequel, I can also see how "Green Bones" could, as well. I see it taking off from within the timelines covered by what seems to be the "minadaling" third act. This does not take away at all from my rave about the film; it's more, there are unanswered questions that could be further explored dramatically. For one, I would still be interested to know how the case of Xavier Gonzaga's ate progressed, how he continued on at San Fabian amidst the change in administration, his journey through guilt and blame, eventually winning over Ruth and Betty, and also his battles against Caloy's syndicate during all the third act's triumphs. But I recognize it is a make-or-break risk. I'm just putting this out here; perhaps...
