  • In Indonesia, the Bajaus, an ancient people of nomadic sailors, live freely in coastal cities. They gave up their nomadic life to settle down in houses on stilts. They have kept a strong relationship with the ocean, and live thanks to fishing. While the men fish, the women sell the excess fish at the market. The Bajaus are a free people, they think they may one day return to the nomadic life.

The 'local fixer' for this documentary must be the same with BBC's The Hunter of The SOuth Seas (look it up), because it featured the same family (Lauda) in the same setting.

There are Badjaos in Manila, but no longer diving or living on the sea, they just beg off the streets. They say they're driven there because of the armed conflicts in southern Philippines.
