- Low-budget remake of Mario Camerini's "Darò un milione" directed by Walter Lang and starring Warner Baxter, Peter Lorre, and Marjorie Weaver. A story is circulated that a millionaire is walking about the streets disguised as a tramp and will give a million dollars to anyone who shows him kindness.
People I.e. friends and or relatives ask why I watch these old movies. I tell them they’re much better than the crap we have today!!!
All you need to say
Simply try them for yourself and youll find out one good film leads to another then another then so on and on
Old film cinemas would be full
Amen! Lol My kids don't get it either, I sure wish they'd try to watch just ONE, they'd get soooo much out of doing so! Especially the black and white movies! Good stuff! ❤
That is Absolutely Not True. There was alot of crap back then, considering since 1930s they made 300 plus movies every year till now. So enjoy what you like 😊
I agree with you.
❤You are correct. Older movies are best.❤
Superb comedy with cutting observation on the average persons value system! Delightfully surreal.
Loved this picture. The menagerie of circus lions and other animals played into the comedy with real expressions of grandoise cinematic flourish. The direction of Walter Lang is once again impeccable!
There is nothing better than a good old movie.
A good book I would choose over a screen play any day. Books are stories that turn into good ole' movies. Just playing, both are great, I do love both. Peace
“…What and miss a chance to get off that boat?” Lorre: ‘Why does it leak?” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😆🤣😆😆
What a fun movie; entertaining without swearing, sex, or violence. Every minute is enjoyable. Thanks for uploading.
Damn, I like a little gratituitous sex and violence in my movies.
But according to our current leftist political correctness, it is full of racism, White supremacy ....
Fantastic !
@@alan1340 So you did not like this movie ? You have a vast choice of gratituitous and vioilent. films... No accounting for personal tastes !

Thank you for posting this wonderful old movie. I've enjoyed watching this. ❤
Great movie, even at 82 years old.
"How much is too much?" The funniest line in the movie and great delivery by Lorre!
Peter Lorre is amazing in this film! 👍👍 It's a very funny film and lots and lots of fun! Also the film includes a fine comical performance from the legendary John Carradine.
The old story.... so perfect with Warner Baxter. Those were truly great artists!

Old is Gold
A nice little gem; from his fall from the yacht to the very french civil ceremony (which you know must finally take place for the film to end), the clever writing and fine comedic acting are a joy to watch.
Very solid script! It keeps up a brisk pace and wonderful little twists. Nothing is forced.
Fab! Great funny story and great acting. What a cast. Thanks for posting.
I always wanted to see these type of movies. Thanks
Marjorie Weaver made the thing. Bright, energetic, beautiful. Perfect.

Today I passed a Restaurant in my town with a sign saying, those who down on their luck
were welcome to a meal. A Rawmen Restaurant in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Pay it Forward, when you can. God bless everyone.
Delightful film.
Love Warner Baxter movies ♡
Me, too. He wonderfully underplays his parts.
I'm a buff, never ran across this one before. Great little movie. Weaver shows a little leg, only time I can recall seeing that, meant for the European release, I'd guess. Love to see what didn't make it into the US cut in 1938.
What do you mean low budget? it’s great, maybe all movies should be low budget.
Hummmmph.
+Saint Boudreau I haven't seen the movie yet - just scanning the reviews. No fan of Weaver, who I've seen in several movies lately; she's fairly a non-entity, and Baxter was fun in 42nd St. and Crime Doctor, but Lorre is the big draw here. I hope it is great or at the very least good. I liked your " Hummmmph". Thumbs up on that comment alone! Thanks.
I've seen many a low budget movie that has far surpassed a high budget glitzy advertised movie with a host of special effects and big names but no story for an audience to connect too.

He made me a lovely quilt from the hair of soft kittens...
Such a sweet, sweet heartwarming movie...it's 2:00 am...and I am wide awake...oh for movies like these in the 20th century...instead of all the unholesome, and ungodly and just down right sin, sin, sin!!!!!
I agree and it's 1:50am for me LOL I wish they could make some movies like this nowadays. The problem is they are so brainwashed to enjoy all the violence, profanity, nudity and sex. TV, movies and video games show so much of it so they think that's how they should live. I couldn't believe the high school had a boy bring a gun to school saying he was going to kill another boy, a girl brought brownies with marijuana in them the said they were calling them the edibles. 3 girls ended up going to the hospital after eating them and they had a fight between 2 girls against 1 and one had a knife. I think the kids have lost their minds this is in a mix of children of middle and upper class families. All that happen today you have to wonder what's going on with those children. I can't believe they didn't say anything on the news the fact there was a gun and a knife at the school. They sent out a email to all the parents and it wasn't on the news because no one was hurt. They arrested the boy with the gun who said he wasn't planning on hurting anyone, the girl with the knife and the girl that brought in the brownies to school. I guess it's a sign of the times we are living in we can only pray people will turn their lives around.
Peter Lorre is the BEST!!!
Very nice movie indeep I always remember peter Lorre ..in honór to my beloved father Rafael Soler .thank you for share
and that's Lynn Bari. I love her! Thanks for the upload.
A very fun movie! Love Peter Lorre
This is a great movie. Well worth watching!
This is a wonderful movie 🎥👏🏾🤦🏽♀️🙋🏽
The Telegraph clerk is ROLFE SEDAN! He was Gracie Allen's regular mailman, Mr. Beasley, on The Burns and Allen TV show in the 50s!
Delightful- lots of fun! Thanks!
One of the best old black and white movies that I have watched. Excellent!!!
Excellent movie I loved it thank you for posting...
Good pick_ thanks for the share.
This isn't a film about human kindness, it's about how dumb people suck up to money.
not George Brent is it? Warner Baxter and Peter Lorre BUT a wonderful movie never the less !!!!! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD
Great film. Peter Lorre was a handsome young man in this movie.
That was a really good movie. Thank you!
Excellent, thank you. Ron PTL USA
Love Love Love!!
Love this film !. Thanks. Dave
It was a charming flick on the theme of friend ship of the true an honest kind. Nice easy flick some people where dishonest, for money.
Love these old films! Hollywood could learn from these old films, the newer films are ABSOLUTE CRAP
Hollywood made this film too...
I had just finished seeing an old Bob Hope film WTH Dorothy Lamour, and how wonderful it was!!!!! And now I am seeing this for the 2nd time!!!!! Such great films considering for a Saturday evening!!! Thanks so much for these out of time classics!!!!! Have a great night to all!!!!!🇬🇮🇬🇮🇰🇮🇰🇮
You shouldn’t generalize like that. Some old movies are crap, some modern ones are great. How would you like it if I said all Kansas Cowboys are limp wristed dingbats?
Immigrants from Europe play big role in ..Hollywood .I. Read and see a lot of Russian Jewish names . Very proud of that !
refreshing story
What a gem of a movie!
A perfectly entertaining movie! I enjoyed watching Warner Baxter, Peter Lorre, and John Carradine. Marjorie Weaver was wonderful too.
Oh, that was John Carradine! He looked so familiar, and had that famous gravitas. Thanks for identifying the tall tramp!
Darwin was also pretty good.
Gosh darn it, now I've got the itch.
Thank you
I wish Peter Lorre had been able to do more comedy, he's hilarious
Have you seen Arsenic and Old Lace? Hilarious!!!!
@@marywagner9927 yep :D
He was SO gifted !
He sure was. I still crack up at him.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't mind a bit seeing these b rated flicks!!! Many times there much better than even the new nouveau, s!❤ did any one recognize the short Frenchman 🤔!!! I do believe it was Mr. Fritz feld !!! He looked so young!!! & was always incredibly funny. He also was in " pocket full of miracles ". !!!!!!! Great actor also. He played in Mel brooks; " silent movie ". & Ann bancroft was in it too. Just look for the head m' atradie!!!
Cute & Charming!
For money people will do anything. Great flick.
Some of the best movies are "low budget". A good story does not need sordid sex scenes, graphic gore, extreme explosions, or any other distraction if the story is told correctly (but sometimes, just sometimes, it don't hurt! LOL. I couldn't help but relate a scene in this movie to current misconceptions. Around the 23:00 minute mark when folks are reading the story about the supposed millionaire roaming the streets in a beggar's outfit who is eager to give away "one million francs to anyone who shows him the least bit of kindness", one guy asks another if he believes that it is true. The second guy replies that since they are reading about it, that it MUST be true! Low budget? Heck, they even splurged on a real live monkey! (OK-chimpanzee, lol!)
👍 Awesome. Thanks. ✌️
What a amazing movie ❤❤
George Brent & Peter Lorre, I overlooked this gem. Thanks for sharing.
George Brent is not in this movie. The millionaire, Tony Newlander, is played by the wonderful Warner Baxter.
Just a sweet movie, the good people win at the end. Everyone is happy. You would think Hollywood would find a way to replicate these beautiful stories. I can wish can't I? Lol.
Let's be glad we can watch and enjoy these gems because Hollywood is more interested in making money over creating real entertainment.
Everyone is happy? How about the caged lions? The chimp forced to do things that makes him so miserable that he runs away every chance he gets? The elephant that stood there with a massive ring and chain on her ankle?

I don't think animal abuse is very family friendly
That movie was a great fun, l really enjoyed it!!☺️😊
Thanks - enjoyed it!
great film, thank you Mia.
Greed, greed, greed! No wonder the Powerball is so high!
Desperation, desperation, desperation. Maybe you've never experienced it so naturally you only know the other end of wanting to "win big" --- where ppl already have $ and still gamble for more.
Cute Movie, loved it. THK U
Totally agree 👍

Why did the Locals get so frightened of the migration into their area causing habitat loss/ resource shortage, crime, etc!? I Just Can't Imagine Why?!
