  • The Royal Academy of Arts (RA), a prestigious art institution and school in London, underwent a significant transformation in 2018, its 250th anniversary year. Buildings in Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens were united, creating a single, expansive cultural campus.
The RA is renowned for its annual Summer Exhibition, the world's largest open submission exhibition, held continuously since its founding in 1768. Paintings, sculptures, films, architectural models, photographs, and prints all find a place on the walls and in the galleries.
Members of the Academy, or Royal Academicians, curate the show, selecting a diverse range of artworks from students and leading contemporary artists. Tracey Emin, a Royal Academician since 2007, exhibited in the 2005 show.
