We need stealth, but the Navy should not over it. Include the Rolls Royce MT30, along with the Japanese Unicorn system, and refine the design and conceal weaponry as much as possible. DO NOT OVERDO IT. The Pakistani Navy will have a lot of AIP submarines by 2030, so we need to invest in Anti-Submarine. Also, Indian ships lack Anti-Air Defense. We need more interceptor missiles and anti-drone. So invest in these rather than overdoing stealth.
Pakistani Hangor's AIPs based on french older AIP System Which was rejected by the Indian Navy because of having movable parts which increases the Acoustic signature of the overall submarine. Indian ASW equipment can easily detect their Hangor subs

Technically 13500 ton warships are not called destroyers, it called cruisers. Anyway we should build our neavy bigger than Russia at least by the end of 2040, with 5 carrier, 30 Destroyer, 40 Frigates and 30 submarines ( 12 Nuclear attack + Balestic and 12 Disel AIP)
Zumwalt is so expensive. We can rather acquire 3 destroyers of Vishakhapatnam class instead of 1. This is almost as expensive as a 40k ton Aircraft carrier.
No need for such extravaganza. An improved and stretched P15B will do, 10k ton displacement, with 127/64 LW main gun, 16 Brahmos, 32 LRLACM, 32 MRSAM, 64 VLSRSAM. Higher rated powerplant will be required to run all 4 AESA panels and other sensors & EW on full power. But eventually we would need 15k-20k Cruisers to act as the sword arm of every CBG.
We definitely will need a small no. of Zumwalt type ships to do special missions because the way china is building its navy we can't match in its tonnage nor in numbers, only thing we can do is to ensure our ships are top of the line and will hold its ground. With a Zumwalt type ship our navy will have that surprise element to sneak in undetected and easily escape after an attack.

How about considering a catamaran style design with 4 undersea drones held in the gap between two hulls ? Catamaran style should impart littoral warfare capability, and 4 undersea drones should significantly increase the surveillance radius and hunt/kill objectives.
Ideally when the last ship of the class is being readied for Commissioning, the lead ship of the next class should already be Laid Down or Steel cutting should be done atleast. This has created a vaccum gap. Considering how many ships the Navy requires, construction should not halt at all whether it's Surface Combatant or Sub surface platforms. Even the 2nd Vikrant aircraft carrier is seeing no movement when actually the term INS Vishal which now seems like a distant dream was actually conceptualized since 2010. China is supplying to Pak 8 Aip diesel submarines even here India has lagged and this is Navy the supposedly most efficient of the 3 services ...... IAF and the Army lag far behind. China takes less time in construction than what India takes in mere designing. 2011 China zero aircraft carriers. Today 3 aircraft carriers, 4 amphibious ship helicopter carriers. I believe it's better to acquire multiple ships rather than increase the size of individual ones. If we want to compete with China, we need a larger number of ships equipped with advanced stealth technology. This will allow our ships to track targets first and gain the advantage when launching missiles.

IMHO, considering India's Warship Design capability, manufacturing/industrial ability, budget constraint, tech gap, the PLAN's Type-55 will be the most logical & accurate way forward. Even the IN's video presentation on supposedly CAD/Video on NGD is like that, its more evolutionary rather than revolutionary. We have to take modern India's Risk averse mindset into the account as well! And considering our abysmal investment spending on, R&D & Infrastructure, we should focus more on getting NG components that make a Warship lethal. The 155mm Gun on Zumwalt Destroyer, is a good case in point, not the ammo the long range one. We can leverage our 155mm learnings from ATAGS & Bofors for the same, even on MBTs' 130mm seems to be the direction, with Rheinmetall & K3 MBT from SoKo, going for the same. For an underfunded, resource lacking, risk averse decion makers, Type-55 is the logical choice.

Bhai even US dosent want Zumwalt type destroyers. The hull has proven to be hard to maintain, it effectively starts to break apart at Max speed hence their top speed is limited to 40%. With its design they cannot carry guns or external torpedo tubes and energy or rail guns are not ready in terms of technology making the stelthus design moot. No wonder US Navy is planning to decommissioning existing ships with no plans to make any further such ships while returning to previous class of ship design to continue.

I don't think its worth it when China can just sink it with their hypersonic missiles.
