I was actually brought here through the civilian graphic designer and the work he did from on Web sleuths in trying to help identify her. I would never have even known to google her, without seeing HIS work.
The thing that appears to be ignored is the Fact that she was taken at age 13 by "authorities" for habitual truancy. Her Family never saw her again. It smacks of child trafficking and she was alleged to have been a run away. What horrific circumstances led a 14 year old to run from the foster care or detention center ? I have seen on videos where Police threaten parents with children that their children will be taken into "care"... May God have a place set aside from those who would inflict this on Children.
It's not that simple. Trust me...we went through it all numerous times, when my daughter was that age & it was horrific. She was never killed but came close & suffers long term effects from her decisions to run away repeatedly because she didn't want to cooperate with us (her family) or the court system which quickly got involved. So very, very sad. 🥴
For the petty crime of skipping school they put her in a home and we’re going to send her to court? That is so messed up should be alive today if they just would’ve treated it like that small thing that it was. Skipping school should not be a death sentence. Poor kid was too stubborn to go home though
Chances are pretty good she hitched a ride with a trucker since she was last seen at a truck stop. I appreciate all the hard working truckers out there, but it's not a stretch of the imagination to figure there have been many murders of runaways committed by long haul truck drivers through the years.
This is why I think it’s ridiculous when people lament the innocence of the old days. Please, do you have any idea how many precincts are inundated with cold cases? This stuff has always happened it’s just a little harder to get away with it now.
I live at the other side of the world but I knew of this case and I had Sherri in my mind as the "red sandals" girl. I was thinking about her very frequently and I am so relieved she was identified. Its rather sad but now she can rest in peace. Her family I hope it helps them. Must have been hard all these years to not know what happened to her. A beautiful young lady. Happy someone never forgot about her. Peace to all and the Lord comfort.
Thank you for fighting for this girl. I'm glad she has a name and that her family can finally know what happened to her. Godspeed to all those involved in sloving this and for all those investigating her murder.
I’m glad she was identified. Great work to all involved! Such a young girl, I wonder why she ran away from home & what she was looking for. I hope the person/ppl who murdered her, found a quick end to their debauchery. RIP Sherry🕊.
As i undrstood the family statement, she did not "run away from home." Rather, as the officer read it, at the age of 13 1/2 she was "removed from the home for habitual truancy" -- that is, for refusing to attend school. She would have been put in some form of Juvenile Hall (a county jail for truant children) and she ran away from there at the age of 14. The Minnesota school system did this, and very likely did so with her parents' consent.
@@ulexite-tv Thank you for the explanation, I’m really not familiar (I’m sure you can tell😁). If a child refuses to go to school, there is a reason & THAT should be addressed, rather than the truancy. Perhaps, she was being abused by a teacher or other faculty member. Maybe bullying from other kids. Maybe she had a hard time learning. Whatever it was, addressing her concerns could’ve very likely saved her life in the long run. If that is the case tho, that system should have been obligated to notify every state of her disappearance. That way she could’ve been readily identified, at the very least. I’m still bothered by her trying to get into the prison, too. Such a tragic life, tragic story😔.
Wow that's just up the street from the Hitch'n Post. Poor girl didn't get far at all. Ellis unit is just up the road. So sad. Glad her family will finally get closure if any are left.
What caused her to run away? I think that is crucial information that needs to be thought through. Was she being sexually abused by who had custody of her?
The DNA representative did an amazing job in the media release. More representation can help the public not to be so harsh on law enforcement as to WHY so many years to solve. I am guilty of those thoughts when I watch these sad videos. This is very important video for the victim and families. Also a warning for women, never let your guard down.
This was a sad case. I’m so glad she was finally identified. As an aside, when did gentlemen stop removing their hats indoors? It’s such a small thing, I just wondered.
I'm not sure but my aunt ( rip Marilyn) a wonderful lady I loved dearly would get "upset" because although she appreciated the great men who are very kind and loving up at my church " The Cowboy Church of Orange County Texas" she could never get over the fact that the preacher and some of the deacons only removed their hats just when they bow their heads to pray! For someone like myself (born in '64) I never even noticed that they all wear their hats indoors ! But my sweet aunt....oh how she would fuss! She just couldnt get over the fact even though these guys have helped so SO VERY many troubled soul get theirself back into a path walking with God! I would just laugh and tell her it wasn't a sign of disrespect in the days we are in....I was just so thankful to be around some godly men finally who loved The Lord and the truth of what Jesus Christ did for us all! Seeing Jesus in their eyes and witnessing them help others with troubled lives was such a beautiful sight I didn't care if they kept toad frogs on their heads all day every day! I'd had my fill of wickedness and selfish ungodly behavior when I ran into them ! God knows they were a most welcome sight to behold and an answer to my prayers!
This started to happen in Texas in the 60s. See the vintage films of Lee Harvey Oswald assassination and some men with hats on indoors. Now it's all pervasive, especially with ball caps. Not so much at my church (Episcopal) but the less formal churches, many men are hatted. To be sure, some are not wanting to show baldness, or that ring in the hair you get when you wear a cowboy hat.
@@ellentravers7889 I understand what you mean about hairloss and hat hair. I was born in 59 but was raised that courtesy and respect should be shown in different situations. Man or women, I would hope that a person could put aside their own particular vanity for a time. Especially in a place where they may worship whoever they feel is their God! Even he doesn't come before hat hair or hair loss. For myself, its a shame. Take those ball caps and hats in general off when you are at worship, in a home or you are sitting at a table. Home or restaurant. Show class. Just my peeve. Thanks for letting me rant.
I am so happy that they found her after all of these years. Forensic Science has came such a long way. It's just to bad that they didn't have it way back then. So many Cases were put into a cold case file, and all it takes is that one special person who cared enough to reopen her case. Her Parents can finally in someway find a closure to their precious Daughter, and have a head stone for a proper burial. I feel for every mother and father that have to go through this not ever knowing where their child is. You can now rest in Peace Sheri Jarvis
How long have we had DNA ? Why is it taking so long for these samples to be run ? I understand there’s thousands but can’t we spread these unidentified cases evenly to be able to be running DNA testing constantly ? Particularly rape and murder cases because we know the scum don’t stop !! Thanks for getting this done.
They need access to the families dna too, only way to get that is if you upload your data to an ancestry search website that they can then access, this is problematic due to information legislation which means that you need to grant them access to yours!
You need people in a family to do something like 23And Me and have put their DNA in the database to match and trace DNA samples. If the general public’s DNA isn’t in the data, having the victims DNA won’t help.
Why cannot some people keep their hands off children and stop killing them l will never know, but like a lot of people it sickens me to know someone has avoided justice all these years to a horrific and cowardly crime.
Ooohhh, this is so sad. Removing her from the home because she was not going to school😪😪😪....The State has blood on their hands. My heart sank to hear her parents have passed away. I'm glad her family can now have some closure.
You have rested in God's peace dear Sherry, your heavenly Father knew your name but now your family has you back. I pray the person who murdered this young girl is held accountable one day, if there is no justice on earth there will be justice in Heaven. I pray for Sherry's family to give them peace and comfort.
Wow, a 14 yo runaway rebellious child from Minnesota; there should be a story behind it, who took her out of MN's social service? And brought to TX? And killed her? Justice to Sherri Ann Jarvis!!!!
I don’t know about the exact family dynamic but Sherri had a lot of issues on her own, sadly. She got involved with a really bad group of men who were doing illegal activities (her brother said that the cops had to get involved multiple times), ran away frequently, and skipped school a lot. The state then removed her from her home and placed her in an emergency shelter in Stillwater. She ran away from her court hearing with two sisters and they made it to Green Bay, WI but she refused to go back home.
It's nice that this young lady and others are getting their names back! Now let's get the killer (s).She was was a beautiful young girl so 💔 heartbreaking and sad. RIP 🙏Sherri ❤️
Relieved this case was solved & thank you to all who took part in it. First thing I thought was 'she looks a bit like Deani Peters' of G.R. MI. As I continued to read, ironically, Deani's case was about 41 years ago too, I think Feb '78 or '81, she also was only 14, and deani's home of G.R. MI is a little close to Minnesota State where Sherri went missing, RIP Sherri Ann... authorities have never found Deani but believe foul play was involved... & it is a case most of us cannot forget & pray will get solved & that justice will be served. We trust it will. The day is coming soon for a reckoning when there will be no more time for repenting any guilt, & NO MERCY will be shown... not for perpetrators nor those who harbor them. No question - the hour draws nigh.

Why isn't a DNA run at TOD and put into their file?? Why wait til the DNA is too old and possibly unusable??? DNA should be a standard in the deceased. And why isn't there a NATIONWIDE database to help law enforcement? Amen that she has been identified. And congratulations to everyone involved in getting her identified. Thank you.
Good work. I'm so happy she was identified. I hope her parents and siblings are around to learn what happened to her. At last they have closure. Healing is going to take a very long time.
Why would a girl run away from home at 14 years old ?... family needs investigating...killer was obviously at the truck stop..hope he's still alive and they find him...rip Sheri... EDIT: Sick of police bigging themselves up !!! do that when you've found the killer
Many 14 year olds do things that make no sense or that are out of character. It is confusing time of life for many teenagers. You are right that sometimes it is an abusive family, but not always. Sometimes young ladies get involved with older men taking advantage of their inexperience and their lack of knowledge about the dangers in the world. Who we need to blame is the person responsible for taking her life.
Teens run away from home for a lot of different reasons and most of the time it’s not due to abuse or neglect. She was placed in state custody due to not going to school and sadly many kids in state custody come up missing or abused.
The DNA forensic work in this case sounds like it had similarities to the method used to identify and arrest Joseph James DeAngelo, the Golden State Killer in 2018, except in this case it was used to identify the victim, not the perpetrator.
I don't wish to minimize the benefit to the family of finding their missing family member. But it terms of solving this case, how is knowing the identity of a person having no connection to the area going to help find the killer?
It always does. Say an inmate had a pen pal back in the day and knew details about her life from the letters, say somebody gave her a ride earlier on and got to know where she was coming from or going to, or who she was hoping to meet. The posdibilities are endless, some times a name can get memories loose.
It’s bittersweet to see all the Jane/John Doe cases being identified as of recently. They finally have their names back and are that much closer to justice

@@Belovelyava Carl Koppleman is one of them that spent years reconstructing her pic for the public. There’s a video here on RUclips about him.
I hope that the killer, or anyone involved in her death, gets his or her punishment. God will make sure it gets done.
I’m not familiar with this case but glad they have identified her I’m 3 years older and live in Texas 🙏🏽 RIP SHERRY🙏🏽 thanks to forensics
Officer Wells should have practiced reading the family's statement beforehand.
It is so sad she suffered so brutal a death. Hopefully her killer will be found and brought to justice! It angers me that the missing persons report has been purged, this should never happen especially when minors are missing. R. I. P young Sherri.
Rest in paradise 💝
Sorry for your loss.
R.I.P Sherry! GOD bless you and your family! Thank you all for giving her and name and giving her back to her. Family! Much love to all!!!!
I think Texas Lawmen and women of all agencies are just top shelf, among the best! 🙏🏻👍🏻
This Texan feels the same way.
We just don't know who killed her. 😕
Wow that's just up the street from the Hitch'n Post. Poor girl didn't get far at all. Ellis unit is just up the road. So sad. Glad her family will finally get closure if any are left.
Does anyone know why she ran away from Minnesota to try to travel across the country to get to Ellis Unit Prison in Texas?
@@AB-hk1pq my guess would be a prison pen pal?
Wow finally ❤️
I'm not sure but my aunt ( rip Marilyn) a wonderful lady I loved dearly would get "upset" because although she appreciated the great men who are very kind and loving up at my church
" The Cowboy Church of Orange County Texas" she could never get over the fact that the preacher and some of the deacons only removed their hats just when they bow their heads to pray!
They should take off their hats.
Her Parents can finally in someway find a closure to their precious Daughter, and have a head stone for a proper
burial.
Addressed at 18:43. New technology. This was not possible even 5 years ago, with some techniques used that are only a year old.
It takes two years to process current felons imagine back the log!
@@boogaoooga3315 😩
They need access to the families dna too, only way to get that is if you upload your data to an ancestry search website that they can then access, this is problematic due to information legislation which means that you need to grant them access to yours!
You need people in a family to do something like 23And Me and have put their DNA in the database to match and trace DNA samples. If the general public’s DNA isn’t in the data, having the victims DNA won’t help.
She must've run into her killer at the hitchin' post truck stop. Her death was brutal. Only 14. Imagine how scared she must've been.
Thank you for pursuing this case and using the technology now available to identify Sherri as well as others. Cooperation is a key element.
Why cannot some people keep their hands off children and stop killing them l will never know, but like a lot of people it sickens me to know someone has avoided justice all these years to a horrific and cowardly crime.
My Deepest Condolences.
Ooohhh, this is so sad. Removing her from the home because she was not going to school😪😪😪....The State has blood on their hands. My heart sank to hear her parents have passed away. I'm glad her family can now have some closure.
You’re right! The state department in many states across this country has A LOT of blood on their hands. 🤬
Othram is amazing, as are all the investigators and people who keep these forgotten ones from ever truly being forgotten.
You have rested in God's peace dear Sherry, your heavenly Father knew your name but now your family has you back. I pray the person who murdered this young girl is held accountable one day, if there is no justice on earth there will be justice in Heaven. I pray for Sherry's family to give them peace and comfort.
This Sheriff was one of those kids who dreaded being called on in class to read aloud.
What about the monster who killed her? Finding and arresting that evil monster should be next.
exacly killer just went on like nothing
Her killer is probably long dead already.
@@randallsmerna384 I really hope so. These monsters should be eliminated.
We are all blessed that you all worked so hard for a child. I'm so happy that she was finally identified.
QUE BOM QUE A ACHARAM E ENFIM PODEM DESCANSAR
They know her name. Now, they need to find out what happened to her.
Wow, a 14 yo runaway rebellious child from Minnesota; there should be a story behind it, who took her out of MN's social service? And brought to TX? And killed her? Justice to Sherri Ann Jarvis!!!!
What about Bitter Creek Betty????
How very sad to think she felt like home was so bad she needed to run away at 14
I don’t know about the exact family dynamic but Sherri had a lot of issues on her own, sadly.
I agree. There is more to this story than we know. I'm sure the other two sisters thar went back home without her could tell some stories.
I listened and shed a tear for sherry.
Bravo! A fine job. Condolences to this sweet child's family.,
It's nice that this young lady and others are getting their names back! Now let's get the killer (s).She was was a beautiful young girl so 💔 heartbreaking and sad. RIP 🙏Sherri ❤️
Oh I thought you had got the killer. I'm glad now she can go home. RIP 🙏 BABYGIRL
RIP little girl.
The arrest of that old killer in California makes me hopeful that Sherri Ann's killer might still be alive and also found via DNA.
It isn’t solved till they find her killer
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
My hometown, I remember this well
Rest in peace ❤️
Shocking it's my exactly birthday 03/09/1966 😳 wow
Someone at prison farm may have been in same care system as Sherri ?
She mentioned to someone at the truck stop that she was going to see her boyfriend.
@@saehtex1 agreed, they need to find which inmates were young adults back then and/or had pen pals.
Thankful love you guys are GREAT
I remember about that case.... I lived in League City, Texas back in those days, which was 16yrs old @ the time.... I'm glad that they found out whom she was. RIP
I'm glad she was identified too. So sad. I was living in Clear Lake City back then and I can remember the I-45 murders , what was called "The Killing Fields". Scary times. I can't help but wonder if Sherrie may have been a victim of the same killer. She was so young and had her whole life ahead of her..may she rest in peace.
her death was brutal not only strangled but she looked tortured.
@@Raminakai very true probably will never know...
So very very sad
I don't wish to minimize the benefit to the family of finding their missing family member. But it terms of solving this case, how is knowing the identity of a person having no connection to the area going to help find the killer?
It honestly doesn’t help.
It always does. Say an inmate had a pen pal back in the day and knew details about her life from the letters, say somebody gave her a ride earlier on and got to know where she was coming from or going to, or who she was hoping to meet. The posdibilities are endless, some times a name can get memories loose.
Hat off in respect please 🥺
Poor love 😢😢😢
It’s bittersweet to see all the Jane/John Doe cases being identified as of recently. They finally have their names back and are that much closer to justice
