  • Uluru is one of the natural wonders of the world and one of the must do things in Australia. But what is the best hotel at Uluru? The only available accommodation is at Ayres Rock Resort, which has a range of hotel options at different price levels.
At the top of the pile is the Sails in the Desert, an opulent oasis in the middle of the red sand. In his Sails of the Desert review, travel journalist Chris Stead reveals whether it is any good?
You can expect a full Sails in the Desert tour, as well as a look at the Sails in the Desert buffet, and more. Is this the best place to stay at Uluru? Which used to be known as Ayres Rock Australia in Yulara. It's near Kata Tjuta / Mount Olga, and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦. I stayed at Sails in the Desert for two nights in October. I had an upstairs room with a balcony. In general I enjoyed the hotel, though I never got to sample the breakfast buffet because I had very early morning activities. When I got to my room none of the lights worked as a circuit breaker had tripped. The electrician came within minutes of the call and fixed it (this required opening a panel in the ceiling). My favourite place was the pool, but there were never any pool towels available. Fortunately I had a microfibre towel with me! I loved Uluru and watching the sunrise was the highlight of my Australian trip!

Thanks so much for adding your experience into the conversation. Sounds like you had a pretty good time in general at the hotel. Uluru is amazing, isn't it!

I stayed in this hotel, and in fact I stayed in 401 next door. I loved the hotel, and loved watching your review.

Cool video. Thanks for posting. I was looking around on Google Maps just messing around looking at the Outback in Australia and found the hotel next o Uluru, so I searched for it on RUclips and found your video. Seems like an amazing place. Hello from Sacramento, California.

Oh, anything in particular have you worried? One thing to keep in mind is that it's in the middle of nowhere. So they working from a smaller pool of resources.

I thought the carpet was stained... so ugly LOL (Looks like 2.5 star hotel) But it's Uluru so not bad considering location.

@@artemiabanang9573 Given that the hotel is in the middle of the desert, conserving water would be a priority. Personally, I prefer showers anyway, and this shower was a very nice one.
