Good man. Clear talk videos are the best. Get yourself a tripod, costs you 5 bucks and will make your presentation much better. Gotta watch when removing the small bit that turns the engine over. When the kick gets released it's like someone kicking down with all his force and that spring could rip your finger off. You're the best so far
Thanks for the video. Saved me time and money. It was such a simple fix. Most people freak out and immediately take it to a mechanic when a little time and elbow grease can solve the problem and give you satisfaction and save money. The only critique I have on the video is instead of prying the piece off with a screw driver just use the kickstarter lever in sync as your working it off. Move both pieces at the same time. It comes off like butter. Other than that, awesome video dude!! FYI: I ride an Icebear Madd Dogg. (Honda Ruckus copy cat)
Yesterday my kicker started sticking on me , and I was getting pissed and was about to stomp the shit out of it but stopped myself. Found your video An am pleased with the solution. Thank you - ps get a damn camera stand 😂
Thank you so much. My friend and I coincedentally had this very issue at the same time. He decided to take it to the shop and I decided to try to fix it myself. He was charged $135
nrbbi Holy shit!!! This literally took me a half hour and I had never worked on a moped. Your friend got fucked hardcore!!! A space monkey who eats his own feces could do this. Hahaha!!!
You have saved my stupid bike from the Hamer. Replace piston and rings then not even a half hour the freekin cdi goes. So I by pass the stupid cutout wire on the cdi to get to start and as fate would have it... Yes you guessed it. The freekin kick start get jammed. I was going to use the hammer, not to fix it but just to feel better. Luckily I have found your vid. Thank you
It is a super-common problem with the worm gear disenegrating over time. get one little chip out of the gear and the repetitive pounding of the kick starter, just chews it up in non functioning. Glad you liked it.
awesome video man and not boring lol at least you kept it somewhat entertaining unlike many of the other vids I watch on here on how to fix stuff lol thanks.
"how to turn this bitch off" 🤣🤣 So simple! Why do others just go on and on and on when it's so simple?! Thank you for the clarity and for all the giggles😎👍🤙
DON'T USE A PRY BAR! Release the main spring from the half-moon gear, take the kick starter lever off, and pull out both gears by simply sliding them up and out. I found this is easier to do and easier on the parts.
Some people are just gifted in explaining stuff to us ignorant bozos. I have a Suzuki FA50 that has this issue with the kick starter. I watched your video and now I have a much better understanding on what needs to be done. I am certain I will fix my bike now thanks to your video. Thanks a LOT for sharing!
Got a question guys,my kickstart has no compression. My gears are not catching,I can hear the gears click, but I can roll the bike EASILY in 1st gear. Can any one give me some information about this? Or sent me to a video about this???? Highly appreciate it
You cant beat the price for FREE. Glad to have helped. Maybe when I retire in a few years at 65, I will open up a 50cc and under moped shop and work on the little Terrors. Thanks Again. R
I have a stock 87 elite, just bought a new starter pinion and drive face but every time I kick it will go through one rotation but if you try and kick it the second time it is locked up. Do you know the problem?
What if you replace the whole kick start gear assembly with new gears and they still slip after installing the new gears? That's what is happening with 2 of my mopeds after installing new kick start gears. When I kick start the moped, the pedal just bottoms out and you can hear and feel the gears slipping and also the pedal has to be pulled back up manually by hand. I have torn apart the kick start assembly 7 times and it still is having the same problem. Both the Idle shaft gear and the half moon gear are stripping and metal shavings are everywhere. There is play between the idle shaft gear and the half moon gear. Seems like the gears were poorly made and they don't fit tightly enough together causing the gears to slip. The part where the idle shaft gear sits in has play as you can move the shaft side to side. I don't know if there is supposed to be a sleeve in there like there is for the starter bendix gear but both of my mopeds do the exact same thing. I never had problems like this in my life. Kick starters are supposed to work after you install new parts but mines works the same as it were still broken. Chinese parts are full of shit, they should make it in Taiwan instead of China because the quality is better or make then in USA where you know the parts will last long. I am stumped on this.
4ako sorry I still haven't fixed the problem yet. I will probably just buy a high torque starter for both of the mopeds and just use the electric start instead of the kick start. Or maybe just order the whole case cover with the gears already installed on it and pray that it works. That's all I can think of other than taking it to the shop and having them try to figure it out but it would cost a lot of money.
Hi,Randy! I have chineese 150 CC scooter, almoust new. After winter time something hapens,I can"t starting with electric starter and with kick too, engine don't move. Maybe starters bendix not come back and stopped engine or something problems with kick! Thanks! Sorry for my english. George
George Craig I just watched the video and have probably not seen it since I posted it years ago. I wonder is that me in the video and only shooting videos once and no editing, why I am now approaching 30,000,000 Million views? I can tell you I love making the videos if it interests me and is a great hobby. Thanks for watching . R
hey randy i watched your video and it was alot of help...but will the rubber washer prevent my pinion gear from slideing all the way out an stopp it from grinding against the fly wheel gear
Your worm pinion gear is cracked and broken. Order a new one and install. This is a very common problem. Don't try and kick it any more you will just destroy the cracked pinion even more. RH DSD
I have 3000 other helpful moped /scooter videos on my channel, in all phases of moped performance and maintenance. Thank you for the kind words. Randy H DSD
Thank you for this great tutorial. My kick start works fine but the scooter wont start. I can only turn it on with the electric starter. I have a 2006 Yamaha Vino 125cc.
The Vaseline is 75, to 85$ an hour. Whatever the bike shop and mechanic decide to charge you , after they take 3 mins to fix this problem and get done laughing at your ass.
brand new drive cover and assembly gears are binding when the half moon pushed on the spindle waste of 60 bucks need help. pushed the spindle at an angle like the hole is oblonged or something therefore the spindle is at an angle and nothing works.
The spring is loaded , but all the stress and pressure go on the worm starter gear and that is what usually starts to crack and makes the starter jam and fail.
Lol omg i cant stop laughing greatest man ever xD thanks sir it help alot and saved me money xD hahahah alright how do u turn this bitch off xD hahahahahahah
+Bob Duvall - The 3rd tooth on the silver gear looks moon shaped. Is that normal? Would the pinion gear(?) have to be seated before the pinion gear is dropped?
Yes, this is normal. It is a weld bead put on the gear. Look at 3:09 and you see the gear is discolored because a weld bead is at the third tooth. Why? This is what stops the kick start at its up most position. When the return spring brings the kick start up, It has to stop here because the weld don't let it go any further. Follow his instructions starting at 3:30 and he explains it pretty good. I Think the original problem was the person did not push the kick start down, when the small gear was dropped in place. THIS Put the small gear ON THE WRONG side of the weld... When someone tried to push the kick Start down it Binded Up. This guy explained it pretty Good! I should not have made the rude comment. ;) Good Luck
FIRST OF ALL, ALL ONE-HANDED VIDEOS SHOULD BE BANNED. IF YOU CANT WORK WITH TWO HANDS- YOU SHOULD`T BE DOING PROJECTS. SHOWS EXTREME IGNORANCE. AND YOUR GOING TO TEACH SOMEBODY.
Arthur Bradley shut up dude he did fine and even with one hand you can still see. If you still don't know what your doing then you just need help cuz u might be a lil slow. see the power button on your machine your using to see this comment? TURN THAT BITCH OFF!
