In my opinion hakuji/akaza was fairer than the original (giyu) I like giyu but he didn't even want to say a word at the hashira meeting to defend nezuko and tanjiro, If Kagaya hadn't appeared, the Hashiras (except Mitsuri, Muichiro, Giyu and perhaps Shinobu) would have decided to decapitate Nezuko If giyu at least tried to argue in the meeting it would be great but the only thing he could do was hold obanai's arm 💔
That is true, however, I believe Giyuu had faith Nezuko wouldn’t attack Sanemi and thus didn’t move because of that faith. Akaza, as we’ve seen him as a demon, is not above speaking his mind at the demon meeting. So the creator I’m guessing was taking reference from that when they were creating this. The AU Swap may change the *roles* of the characters but it does *not* change the characters themselves. I hope this makes sense.

I really like this idea of Hakuji being the one to vouch for them in the swapped AU as he probably would be the one to switch roles with Giyuu. I can see him taking on a very stern but also gentle role because of his wife, Koyuki. In addition, in the original, Akaza is very loyal to Muzan and was stated to be one of his favorites, so it makes sense for Hakuji to not only defend Nezuko and Tanjiro, but also seem insulted by the fact that Gyutaro was ready to kill the Kamado siblings without Muzan's permission. Probably feeling that Gyutaro himself was insulting the master by trying to act on his own accord instead of listening to the wishes of Muzan.
