- After feeding a few hulls today I finally got a decent fight in a battleship. There are a lot of good arguments out there for and against the ESS. Either way, with the changes it was awesome fitting up an old school AB Rokh and getting a fight in minutes.
This was my second Rokh (the first hit an absolute drone blender). No editing outside of adding music that matches the best Rokh skin. I only recently returned to the game so I'm working the rust off.
Here's the battle report and ultimate lossmail when I attempted to limp home with only six charges left.

Afterwards I realized the CPU mod in the low was unnecessary. I changed the fit at the last second before undocking (second web vs MJD) and didn't see all the spare CPU. Funny enough the MJD would have saved me from the Crow that held me long enough for the friends to arrive!

Great video. I like the use of the cap booster so you can run your XLASB for a few cycles without charges. Clever!

I don't think I ever whipped out the Rokh for mining but I definitely did some bait jetcan Osprey mining back in the day.

That happens to me too. It's all about getting that one good fight. Have to deal with the unpleasant ones along the way. My KB is proof that any type of coordinated response is enough to dunk you. Solo battleship just means you're in the bubble for that much longer.
Fair does not exist in EVE :)

Thanks. I've been solo for a few years now. Lots of mechanics were added to the game that allows me to roam from Jita easily. Helps with Eve/IRL balance.
I quit eve years back but this vid popped up on my front page, I used to watch all of kil 2's vids, anyway nice vid and you get a sub from me for the music loved it. Looking forward to the next vid.
Why defang a blaster boat? Drones off it do maybe 100 DPS between them. Nevermind the 900 coming from the guns.
So after you are done stealing from the ESS, you have to burn 75km out via AB right?
Yea, within 75km of the ESS you cannot MWD, MJD, cloak, or launch deployables. You maintain link to the ESS within 10km so best case you're looking at 65km to get out.

could you use an alt to tackle anyone landing at the gate to stop them from even warping in?
what does it look like, is there a gate that you activate when you warp to the beacon or do you just warp straight to the middle of the bubble when you warp tp the beacon?
When you warp to the beacon you land at a gate with a large blue ring around it. As long as you are inside that ring you can activate the gate. Haven't tested that tackle could prevent entry but it would be consistent with how I remember FW plexes working. Activating the gate lands you on the beacon and about 3km from the ESS itself. Center of the bubble.

Nice job. Just to note, afaik cap regens better when it is around 40% remained ( not sure about the exact number ) .
So i think it could have been easier with cap issue if you just let your tank bleed to armor instead of cycling booster with cap.
Maybe you know this, and just made a different choice which doesnt really mattered :)
It's 25%. He can't really maintain 40% cap. When ASBs run out of charges they they suck more cap than a whore at a 24/7 gloryhole.
Thanks Flower. It was a choice earlier when I was dipping and wanted some spare time between ASB reloads. I wasn't sure how quickly I'd eat through that buffer and who else might show up. You're right though that I started paying for it later down the line. The responses I've seen when hitting an ESS (or even flying through) so far have been pretty brutal gangs so I was surprised only these three showed.

nice vid, love the Rokh hull personally but Sansha ships are definitely optimal for this :p
A shansha cruiser costs close to 300 mil and his rokh is about 300 mil aswell so yes sansha ships are great for ess but when you get dunked on by a fleet that's a quick way to lose is. The battleship cost close to 1bil which can be 3 rohks if you have friends.

Yea, right place and right time. People weren't sure how to respond on the first night of the ESS and, I bet, didn't expect to see a Rokh.
@@CaldariJoans Of the ESS? How does the Rokh hold up these days in Solo PvP? I'm still really new, but I love the concepts of the Naga and the Rokh, plus they are very appealing to the eye lol.
@@Bryantsocarina Yes, this was within the first 18 hours of the ESS launching. The Rokh has always been strong on its own but the meta doesn't play into those strengths. Even in the ESS you need the enemy to respond a certain way otherwise you will just die slowly over time. If you can afford the ship and want to roam in it then I think it's a great idea though. You will eventually get a fight you love in it. Just like the one shared above.
This is why you don't warp in 1 at a time.
Yea, the groups that coordinate their response almost always dunk me.

Nicely done, only thing I would say you could've done better was micro your drones a little bit. You were close enough to instantly suck your drones back in to waste some smartbomb cycles, maybe throw out like 2 drones at a time to make him use even more smart bombs... Small micro things really.
How did you get a logo on your ship?
It's part of the Permaband skin for the Rokh. The Sabre has one too.
Haven't pvp'd since getting back into the game.
It's honestly a great time to get back into it. The ESS allows you to get so many fights with relative ease.

Unfortunately this Rokh died limping home so I lost those corpses. That said, I die all the time so you're likely to come across my body somewhere in space!

Been away from Eve for quite a while. How does that Rokh have a Permaband holograph on the side of it? Is it a special ship skin for CCP's band and are there others?
It is a Permaband skin. The Rokh and the Sabre have special Permaband skins that show the logo as well as a song name. Rokh is "Wrecking Machine" and Sabre is "Warp to the Dance Floor". The Maller, Moa, Rupture, and Thorax also have Permaband skins but it's a color scheme with no band logos.

my experience with ESS in fountain:
1. go to ESS
2. activate timer
3. locals don't even know I'm there
4. get free money and leave
Haven't landed in Fountain all that much lately.
I was thinking of trying a 100mn stratios with 100mn rodiva, fully spool the rodiva at 50km on the strat before anyone warps in. know if there's any limitation to doing that in the ESS?

What filament do you use to find these rich ESS? Signal or Noise?
I usually default on Noise when roaming in the Vedmak. For something like a Rokh though I'd use Signal to cut down on travel time. I prefer to use the Noise filaments to just get me into nullsec then I can do my normal hunting through the ESS window.

The new ESS bubble warp scrams you while within its 75km radius. A no prop Rattlesnake signs up for a long ride if they warp in.
