  • If your pool filter lid is really stuck on hard, and you can't get it off by a normal method like relieving pressure, putting your foot on drain and pushing on the lid, then this video can help you.
I didn't open my filter for 5 years because I have a really good Meyco pool cover, and the pool didn't get dirty so the pressure never got into the cleaning range.
When I went to clean the filter, the lid was essentially glued shut to the base. I had to use a screw driver, putty knife, mini pry bar/screw puller and work my way around the filter to pry it open.
I went half way around and it didn't budge. At 3/4 of the way around it started to open, and let some air out, but was still stuck pretty tight. I had to take down a couple of fence slats and squeeze between the filter and a wall to get all the way around the filter, and it finally opened up by using the mini crow bar.
I cleaned the filters, replaced the filter seal and the drain O-ring and the filter works just fine. You can get the filter seal/O-ring on Amazon for about $20, and drain O-ring at at any auto parts store like O'Reilly, NAPA, AutoZone, etc. Just bring in the drain cover and they can match an O-ring up.
