Wow! I didn't know this "viewbase" command exists. I am actually using flatshot to to this for my 3D fabrications. Thanks man!

You can even use this technique and bring in iPart members from initially inserting the main factory part. Choose in the command line: Representation > Member > then click the question mark > then up arrow at end of command line to show command history > then copy the iPart name and paste in comandline > return, return > hey presto!
(Not sure if this is the same as just choosing the iPart separate file but feels more legit to my OCD! 😃)

May you make a tutorial for Shaft generator, Gear generator and Bearing generator. I cannot find quality tutorials online for these guys.

Does this have the same type of "Detail", "Section", etc like you would be able to do in an IDW?

Is there a way to ask you how to efficiently model tile walls in inventor? I have been looking all over internet. And I found one solution to make a Layout and then thicken the walls to tile thickness, and cut them. But it is such a pain to do cutting ,when tiles are not aligned to each other. I mean, when they are ornamented, especially if there the walls are segmented, and have many turns! I tried doing things with textures. But texture mapping in inventor is just so ****. Jezz, offset doesn't even work correctly if the view is not Real, and you can't even show real view in drawing (at least I have not found a way). And you can't put dimensions on the drawings, unless you create a sketch surface yourself and make the walls with texture. Talk about clarity and simplicity of the drawing. Becomes more like a Rembrandt stuff. Maybe you have stumbled upon this problem and found a solution? How to model tiles in Inventor?

What about parts lists? Do the attributes follow the model? If you commented on that I missed it!

Nah I very much doubt it, just the view info will come through!

TFI ..the expected answer for sure.. have a customer with ancient standards that requires each sheet to be a separate drawing with their own vintage title block with attributes etc.. of course all auto updating ends as soon as it outputs to ACAD dwg. Oh well my pain not yours! Thank!

Is there any way to place these views in to model space like this? I'm using insert views as blocks from the inventor dwg but updating is a pain.

When I try to import the Inventor model via the VIEWBASE command, I can select the model but I 1) do not get the alternate views and 2) it will not import, citing "Invalid Autodesk Inventor File." Any ideas?

Couldn't you run the SOLDRAW command in ACAD to trace the linked model in the chosen views, obviously wouldn't be interactive but could send in dwg rather than PDF?

You can type VIEWBASE in the command line right away without need to draw any box, the proper layers will be created and everything will work as it should (at least in Acad 2020). A hatching layer will also be created if you draw any section.Too bad VIEWBASE doesn't work with Fusion files but only with 3D geometry in model space and external Inventor files
