Nice update Diff... The Barefoot Mechanic is a real character... Seems like a fun guy and a good friend you have there... Just in case you aren't aware.... Boiled Linseed oil and cotton rags can sometimes spontainesly combust under the right conditions... Keep the used ones in a fireproof metal container...
agreed why build n not drive. you build realiable cars Div.750km each way proves that.. as for aging flytrap paint drop several different size nails in a sock then use sock like a weapon swinging it onto job. we age paint here same way
She looks great after the bath and a new coat of linseed oil Wayne has a beer and it's full who was sitting next to him with the half of the beer? Hey beer 30 comes anytime LoL at least he has shoes on right. Take care guys enjoy your day.
Diff, what a riot! looks like a good time for everyone. Thank you taking us along with the boys. Flytrap is looking good and earned itself a nice rest at the car show! mike
Epic doesn't even seem powerful enough to describe it. And the fact that these guys hard camped (especially Diff just in the back of the truck like that) amazes me. I'm spoiled, I have to have a tent. I have one designed for the back of a pickup truck, but I think I use my instant pop up ground tent more often. Of course I have a blowup mattress either way. Born and raised smack dab in the middle of the Mojave Desert (US), I love desert camping.
Like that supercharger😂😉 full of surprises 👍🏼👍🏼 uncle Div now that you have explained the reason for the tricky handling, it now makes sense when we used to test cars braking aggressively the handling starts to change in a sway effect. Meantime the caster gets out of line as the nose pitches down.👍🏼 Oom moet groete stuur vir oom Dirk en oom Wayne hulle👍🏼
Linseed oil is great stuff, on wood, plastic, and metal. In the old days, linseed oil was used as the basis for paints, and as a "primer" on steel from the factory. Old fashion oil paints stick well to linseed oil, but high tech paints not so well.
Love my “t” shirt. My 4 year old granddaughter asked me what that was a picture of? 🤣😂🤣 how do you explain that? Even the rest of my family doesn’t understand the concept of rat rod! 😂🤣😂. Oh well🤪it must have rust or it will be a bust.
Wayne sure is always happy, never a dull moment, just add beers. Old "Flytrap" came up looking well again with a "linseed oil polish". Doesn't that make the dust stick excessively Div? Cheers mate.👍👍🦘🦘
Boiled linseed oil dries overnight, just like paint. In fact, back in the day pigments were added to it to make paint. RAW linseed oil does NOT dry and will remain sticky!
Man, I've got a good 460 that I would happily let you have, too bad it's such a bloody long drive from Wyoming to your place. Something good will come along though, and you will love that ride with some positive caster in the front. Steering effort will increase a tad, but it will center itself like a dream, cutting way down on wandering. Best of everything to you and your friends and family, keep up the good work!
At least dust doesn't cause rust. I'm still finding pockets of rust and salt from four trips out to Bonneville! But the fun is surely worth it, right, Diff?
Hey Dif, gr8vid. You gotta be pleased Old fly trap went well. Cheers gr8 you had a good time. When will we see more reno bug and the hudson(noticed it in the back round)
Glad flytrap did well, as for side glass..... I have driven my 39 chevy to work without any in 28° F weather. I also have no heater or windshield wipers 😂 .. probably not the best thing for someone our age 😂😂
Looks like an awfull successful trip all-in-all. These kind of organizations are the best times to find out what you and your drive are in need of! Thanks for sharing Div.
@@ratrodsafrica test lol. One hell of one. 1000km, mountains, desert, racing, camping, no side windows, not even a tent to sleep in. You have to be seriously confident your stuff runs. I don't even trust my daily driver that well. I wish I had half of the energy you have, and I'm barely in my 40s
I have a 1963 Chevy 327 engine that would go in Flytrop nicely but I think that shipping cost to you would be out of sight. Love your channel. Best regards, MartyZin NYC
Good to see both you and the flytrap survived with minimal damage. Maybe you could look at a V6 instead of a V8 as I believe V8's are very expensive where you are and feel a V6 would be a major step up in power for you. Maybe a V6 with auto for minimal effort?? Thanks Div.
V8s are cool, but so is gas millage. I would leave it. My little rat rod 54 ford is running a Subaru 2.2 with a 5 speed and all wheel drive, and I love it (modern brakes, A/C, and power steering are a bonus).
I have just sent a wheel rim to pretoria to help a fellow out for a peugeot J7 or J9 help him get back on the road not cheap for shipping. £102.But is there now sent from the UK
People have been racing those 4 cylinder for ever. They can be built up. I do realize that fly trap is probably a good load empty. Side window and a heater? Hmm . I got a couple 4 cylinder in my collection. A little Mgb and a Toyota. V 8 r nice until we fill the tank lol . I think you could try a transmission got this crazy idea I picked up a 50 Chevy 3 speed with electric overdrive it is quite interesting if you research it. Now it has definite advantages. Now my idea is to add it to my Mgb between the transmission and rearend making a gear splitter overdrive between every gear I will have a gear between 3 and 4 imagine keeping the power band climbing hills

Hey Diff, looked like the ol truck stood up pretty well considering all the abuse but what a blast! Looks like a fun time was had by all!
Thanks Div!
just a thought right now. you cut lots of metal jagged offcuts etc just drop different sizes n it should effect paint far better
agreed why build n not drive. you build realiable cars Div.750km each way proves that.. as for aging flytrap paint drop several different size nails in a sock then use sock like a weapon swinging it onto job. we age paint here same way
Yes I have a V8! 1969 Chevy 350 In my 1958 Chevy Apache Pickup! Cheers Brother!
I'm jealous 😅
Div, with your driving goggles you can add Steam Punk to your Rat Rods😃👍
Hope all is well and happy.
All good, thanks
Flytrap looks beautiful!
I hope the barefoot mechanic sold at least 1 t-shirt 😊
Not even a sticker!😂
Y'all are awesome I really enjoy watching all of u having fun I know it's been a blast cause it shows 👍👍🤣
Like the trucks as they are but a V8 powered fly trap would be wild. Bring on the Hudson.
Cool stuff guy's. 😅
👍😎💯
The car's stood up to the trip very well , A new car would be still on the side of the road .
A whole bunch of great memories to add to your life, great times with good friends.

@@ratrodsafrica lol 😂
My favourite rat Flytrap, served you well. She deserved her wash and linseed oil. She looks good as new 😜😂😂😂
I might have to leave this truck to you in my will 😅
👍👍🤣🤣🤣
Keep the four banger it just makes sense and windows are OK too!
Nice, would be good to see the Renobug get some love too tho!
Soon!🙂
You have some great mates Diff. I just love this ending with the old barefoot mechanic so much I watched it again 😂
😊 Glad you enjoyed it, mate!
Diff, what a riot! looks like a good time for everyone. Thank you taking us along with the boys. Flytrap is looking good and earned itself a nice rest at the car show! mike
I got three sbc 350 motors but too far away in CA, 😊USA
Great adventure, great people. The trip looked like a man cave in the desert.
It was an epic event! 😎

It makes sense if you think about it. Front end goes down, castor decreases. Ek sal groete stuur, dankie
Good stuff. The sun visor looks great, weathered.
Great fun, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones, have a Lekka one

I love the stuff. And I don't use high tech paints😅
Sounds like you guys had a great time! Glad you made it home safe. God bless
It was an epic weekend!🙂
Good to have you back in the woods!

Wyoming to South Africa is a long way!😄 Appreciate the thought, though!
FlyTrap is looking good ! Thanks for another , Brother !
Love the channel and your abilitys
Thanks!
Flytrap Cleaned up nicely Div and you LOL Definitely looked like a great time
At least dust doesn't cause rust. I'm still finding pockets of rust and salt from four trips out to Bonneville! But the fun is surely worth it, right, Diff?
Oh, absolutely! 😁
Good one ! Now I aso know why my one ford with the high profile wheels on the back and low profile wheels in front is loose on the road
Makes sense hey! Now we both have to do castor adjustments 😅
Glad to say your looking great.
Home sweet home, thanks Diff
another great videio diff thanks again for these.
Hey Dif, gr8vid. You gotta be pleased Old fly trap went well. Cheers gr8 you had a good time. When will we see more reno bug and the hudson(noticed it in the back round)
We will get back on the Renobug soon!
OG legit welding and engineering held up!

😅 Well, I'm one up on you then. At least my wipers work 😆
I like my V-8 with low sodium. ☺
😅
It looks like Fly trap, as well as yourself held great.
Flytrap probably better than me😅

Indeed, a good test for old Flytrap!

@@MartyZinNYC you right, will cost a fortune! But appreciate the thought 😊
Div if I could fig out a cheep way to ship it to from Mississippi I have one u could have lol
Probably cost more to ship than buying one locally, but thanks for the thought 😀
@@ratrodsafrica yeah for sure lol
Hey look two people in Mississippi that watch rat rods for Africa, cool 😎

Maybe... if I can find an old school one. Don't want anything with EFI...
I agree about the color of the tailpipes, and they claim they really clean now, Idoubt it
Those were the days man!
glad it went well. cheers
Hey guys doing great work on things love seeing your shows so cool 😎
Glad you're enjoying them!
Excellent! Loved the ending. Spot on !
Another great video 👍👍
4:52 Where can I get that sticker?
I'm surprised that small air filter on Fly Trap didn't clog and give you trouble with all the dust and dirt.
Ebay and Amazon have them.
I bought it at a local car show, but have seen it online
@@ratrodsafrica Thanks
Loved the show Diff, keep us in the loop.thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!

That's true
Hudson please
You rinsed her off and oiled her up but I think you missed a little spot of rust there
Oh no!😅

There is nothing that beats the sound and feel of a V8 though...😅
I know you don’t like fords but how about a 6 cylinder Barra or straight 6 of any kind. Turbocharged
Nothing against Fords, I like them all. There's not enough space for a straight 6.
There's no such thing as "too much silly things" Lekka Div
😁👍
Hook up your wiper!
It works, but no washer bottle...😅
Wow, the very beginning of the video was LOUD. Definitely needs a headphone warning.
Sorry! I messed up with the editing...
I hope this wasn’t the case, but it sure looked like you pressure-washed your open air cleaner!
Nope, not directly into it
Dit sit soos kak op 'n wolkombers! 😂

"slept like a baby" ---screamed half the night and c-rapped yourself. I don't like being called a stupid old man because I'm only 74.
