He treated it like a car ride and started to fall asleep towards the end! 62lbs so a little too big for a bob trailer, but I can't wait to do some easy rail trail bike camping trips with my dog soon. This is super helpful. Our 2 year old likes to run with us riding, but can't do more than 10 miles. Took her on a two day trip, 13 miles each day and that was too much. She hates dog trailers but I think we pushed her to sit in it too fast. Just got a BOB Yak and she is willing to sit in it and this time will move at a slower pace to get her comfortable. Thanks for your video. Looking forward to more.

Very excited to find that you two have a RUclips channel after seeing you on Duzer’s channel. Unfortunately I find the music to be too much. I would rather hear the sounds of riding, nature, and your comments upfront with some occasional music in the background. I also think that the electronic atmosphere doesn’t jive with the natural so well. I generally will not watch these types of videos with pumped up music, period. Well this is just the opinion of a musician. And we know about opinions, haha. Happy trails!

Mira is so good at that! I'm thinking of using a trailer like that for Zora when we explore Newfoundland, so we can add to her daily trotting range. What's it like being on the side of a highway with her in there?
We avoid the hwy most of the time because it sucks. But, to answer your question is is fine. As long as she is comfortable in the trailer/ basket then she just chills
@@OmniTierra couldn't agree more! I opt to push up a power line trail or bushwhack over the highway every time. I've been forced to use the highway more times than I'd like, though. It usually feels pretty safe with Zora trotting on the shoulder in the grass, but it feels like it takes forever.

We’ll likely produce a video with less music. Sound design and recording is a very challenging/ involved thing. We carry limited equipment. I’m close to the limit of bike and body for this type of terrain and distance. Hope you still find some joy in the videos 🤗💕🐕
Great video! I want to get a trailer for my dogs and go on bikepacking trips with them but don’t really know wether to choose a two wheel trailer or a single wheel trailer. I imagine the single wheel trailer would be better on single track. Any input on that, John?
I would definitely choose a single wheel trailer. They work better not just on single track, but on all conditions. It’s a smoother ride for your dog since they track better and follow the same path as the other two wheels of your bicycle. @farfarer on instagram makes a great trailer and you can probably find Bob trailers used on craigslist. @ therobertaxelproject makes axles to adapt the Bob for through axle bikes.(modern mountain bikes). Padding of the trailer is a key for dog, comfort and safety.
I ride with my healer in a bob trailer. Clocked over 4k miles so far. Really like the what you did to cover the front and sides. Would you please let me know how you did it? Thanks

Hey Mark thanks for the question. With a dog that young it’s best to ask that question to your vet. It is possible to run a young dog too much and damaged growth plates. I would air on the side of caution with a young pup
Is the bob yak a better choice then the bob ibex? I like to bikepack in nature and i would want take my 45 pound dog(tina) with me. She can run 25 miles. but i cant take her with me on big adventures unless i have a bike trailer that fits her. So your advice as someone who has experience in this field would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve used the Yak extensively. I’m not really sure of the quality of suspension that I’ve exercise but I can tell you that it’s still going to bounce on the dog isn’t in the trailer. That’s a big ask for any suspension without a mould adjustment loaded for us is unloaded. One thing I do know is the wheel bearings are a little quality so on extended trip you want to pack a set extra that can easily be replaced in the field.
Im looking into purchasing a dog trailer. My dog is about 32 pounds and very out going. Do you have a dog bike trailer recommendation....there are several brands, but one that won't break the bank but will last. thank you for your time
I definitely recommend a single wheel trailer since they will track with the bike over a variety of terrain. The more common versions will attach at the rear axle, but I have recently tried a trailer that attaches at the seat post. I was very impressed by how much better it was. Farfarer trailers make a great product. I have used a Bob trailer in the past and had good results and you should be able to find one of those used on the Internet somewhere. The folks @therobertaxleproject can sell you through axle adaptor if needed for your bike. If you’re looking for a real bargain. Check the internet for a a used child trailer and pull the seats. A good way to try it out.
