Bulk Reef Supply you guy should totally have your team try to make a model with a booster and an auto flush I would buy that in a heart beat
I was going to call you guys. But is just a simple ? That i have. In what applications would i need more gallons per day. Cause i want to buy an RODI system for my freshwater or future saltwater aquarium, but i don’t want to over do it. if i don’t need a 200 gallon per day system, why buy it. I hope you guys can help me out with this.
6 stage 150gpd BRS RO/DI system has been definitely one of the best investments I've made.
Improvements for 2020 - an RODI unit that comes in a stable a box format with a handle for easy transport and can stand on its own. Also, easier way to change out the filters without tools but still uses universal filters.
I don’t even need a new RODI system but this plug makes me want to get a new one. 😁
How about making a kit to automate water creation? That is what I would like to see. Some water level sensors solenoid etc.
I bought my Stage 4 value system about 7 years ago. I added a booster pump about 2 years ago.
Seriously thinking about upgrading soon.
This BRS RODI looks exactly like my old system from "The Filter Guys" who are no longer around I guess. Glad someone is finally bringing it back. Great system. 9 years running strong.
The canisters are fairly standard. It's the filters inside where BRS RODI systems really shine :)
I would love to see you guys come out with a computer controlled system with a booster pump. That way it could do membrane maintenance like flushing and tells you gallons made and reminders to change filters.
You guys are amazing!!
Got my first and only RODI unit stage 5 from you guys!! Keep up the good work!
My first RODI was on amazon and it was pure junk . Took the plunge to BRS and it's been great no issues couple years now.
Totally agree. I recommend them to all my friends, even if they don't have tanks!
Yeah you guys have the best customer service even if something cost more I'm going through you guys cause you stand behind all your products.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
BRS RO/DI is the best bang for your buck out there! I love mine!
Chlorine tends to evaporate from the water over time. On swimming pools, it is required to regularly dose chlorine in pallets or liquid in order to maintain chlorine level to keep water free from bacteria.
If the same physical principles apply to our holly, we only have to let the RODI water reservoir open for a couple of days to get it chlorine free. If you need water right away you will need to use chlorine filters.
Dual carbon is needed to remove fluoride from water too. Relevant to some EU countries.
Absolutely love my 4 stage from BRS.
It would be great to see tests and eventually new products using 2.5" x 20" and 4.5" x 20" canisters. From my understanding, contact time is a critical component in DI systems. It would be interesting to compare these to the standard 2.5" x 10" filters / cartridges for performance characteristics and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the consumable portion. Those of us with larger salt water mixing stations could benefit from larger GPD units.
I need you guys to make a thorough video on how to set up a system for drinking water with a connection heading off to your ice maker as well. I know you did this at your house Ryan!
It does not come with EZ Angle Stop Adapter, so I had to go to Lowes and buy one that is better because it has a shut-off valve in case of a leak, I don't have to turn off my cold water to the sink.
Can you guys make a video on ho to hook up a booster pump to a rodi system
Just got mine. Your packaging was impressive. Looking forward to getting it hooked up.
I have a 6 or 7 stage system with a permeate pump under my sink for both drinking and tank water. Love it. My only wishlist item, which I think is impossible without a major redesign, is a way to change the filters without essentially pulling out and dismantling the system. Thanks for sharing all the research, especially discussing the uncharged contaminants dilemma. PS do you have a video testing the benefits of using a salt softener for source water?
Definitely will go buy your rodi
I hope you wil open one day in europe. You sell so many thing that i want like the auto flush kit but the shipping coast is already 30 dollar
I'm planning on getting a 7-stage Pro because I'm on a well and have no idea what's in my water. I'll even be adding a pre-filter because I at least have seen what's in my "house filter". The testing I've had done was only "human consumption" health related and I know the rest (minerals, etc.) will be variable through the changes in seasons. I'll be getting both the pump and auto-flush kit, so you were spot on about having a system series (different RO stage choices) available with those options included! Can you do this by early next year?
Thank you.
I want to see an ultra high efficiency RO/DI unit. Society is changing to be less wasteful and overall more eco friendly. Another 1:1 system on the market would be nice. Waste water can be used in a freshwater/planted tank instead of dumping it down the drain, but a 4:1 or even a 3:1 system is too high a ratio especially since a reef setup would probably be your biggest tank.
A combination of using a water saver membrane configuration and higher pressure can easily get you to a 1:1 ratio. Watering plants is another great use for RODI waste water!
Would love to see a comercial size unit with 20 inch units
Built in booster pump and bigger carbon blocks!!
Love my brs 5 stage unit
Whats the difference in a 4 stage to a 6 stage ? Shame BRS wont ship it to 🇬🇧. Keep the videos coming fellas 👍🌝
We have these more in-depth videos about each one....and BTW.... we do ship internationally! :) www.bulkreefsupply.com/international-shipping
4 Stage: ruclips.net/video/3re1-gAdAEY/видео.html
5 & 6 Stage: ruclips.net/video/8mTXN2tJbuI/видео.html
Great video thanks guys
So I'm on a well. I've been watching all these videos. We had our water tested and from what I'm understanding of all this our water supply doesn't present all the challenges of that as the municipal water supplies.
We have low soft pH. I'm not dealing with the chlorimines etc. The TDS is 49-51.
Currently we are running a 6 stage RO/DI. Sediment, 5and 1 micron carbon block, 75 gpd RO and 2x color changing DI. Also use the booster pump to raise the pressure and give a more consistent pressure, as well systems have a drastic swing.
I keep hearing the term burn through DI resin. What is considered "burn through" ? What is the actual expectancy of produce water through a cartridge? What's a respectable range?
Paul Butchyk Propped Nut FPV I used to “burn through DI” with my high co2 well water. I’d get 40-50 gal max before having to replace it.
When you hear someone say "burn through" they just mean go through DI resin really quickly. With well water, this is usually attributed to high levels of CO2.
I want the drill press for filling DI resin.
Id love a 500 gpd system
I heard you mentioned you have a well. I’m running into problems with my water for my 125 gallon freshwater African cichlids tank. I have high nitrates out if the tap. Should this RO remove nitrates? And which stage?
I'm not trying to bash your product by any means and I got nothing but love for you guys but 0 TDS is still 0 TDS... my RO Buddie is working great for me.
Alex G.
Zero tds is will be zero but there is things in your water that the little buddy can not pull out that this unit will die to the upgraded filters.
What Does a TDS/ppm Meter Not Measure?
Because TDS/ppm is an aggregate measure of charged compounds in water, uncharged things like motor oil, gasoline, many pharmaceuticals, and pesticides do not contribute to a TDS/ppm measurement. For example, the glass on the left in this article's header image contains deionized water with Malathion (an organophosphate pesticide) dissolved into it at 100 times higher concentration than allowed by the EPA for drinking water, and the TDS/ppm probe reads 000.
Definitely booster pump!
I would really like to order one of these from BRS. Is there anyway for you can ship over seas?? New Zealand 🇳🇿
Currently we are only able to ship to the United States and Canada.
I was looking at purchasing a stage 5 systems myself, now that’s a shame, Australia 🇦🇺
Hi guys, I question that maybe was answered before...
I have a 4 stage ro/di for reeftank,
Last stage is DI .. If I add a carbon canister filter after the DI
Do I gain something or not
Thanks
Just curious, how are so many people reporting zero TDS out, when Dow even states that at best, under optimum conditions(temp, pressure, soft water, etc), is a 99% rejection rate? I own a BRS RODI unit, and definitely saw an improvement of my tank water quality, so I am a proponent of owning and using them. But if the manufacturer states at best a 99% rejection rate, how can anyone get zero TDS?
Zero TDS usually comes after the additional DI resin stages that help remove the leftovers from what the RO membrane is unable to remove.
I just got an RO/DI unit so it’s new to me but as filters wear out am I able to just replace them with BRS filters and get the same result in the end? Aside from the extra value y’all put into it. You guys might have answered this and I missed it.
If you have a different brand RO system, you can use our filters as long as your system uses a standard 10" x 2.5" filter :)
Give me a $100 option. That's what I want for 2020
Check back around Black Friday! While we might not hit your $100 mark, we'll probably be pretty close on the 4 stage systems!
I burn through DI resin after about 120 gallons, My TDS is around 375, before RO, think it was about 3-5 after, and 0 after DI. I also only get about 2 gallons an hour, they claim it will do 100... The meter on the System says my Pressure is 38-42, I have well water, would getting a booster pump likely help me make it faster, and the resin to last longer? I admit its not BRS brand, but when it come time to replace it I'll be coming here
The slow production is almost certainly related to the low pressure. I would recommend adding a booster pump in this case. As far as the DI resin goes, your resin is likely being used up quickly due to high concentrations of CO2 (very common in well water). When you decide to upgrade, check out our videos on the "pro series" resin. This is a great solution for those with high CO2 issues.

They are well set up. Though a few complaints. You tighten the canisters on too tight. You don’t specify the individual parts and numbers for replacements, especially membranes. You don’t give clear instructions for final set up or how to set up a variety of boosters to improve the pressure.
This is good feedback. Thank you!
my tds is very off all the time. one week could be 400 tds coming in. the next week cold be 47, then the next week 97 tds. it varies.
Out of curiosity, are you on city or well water? I wonder what the reason is for the huge variance.
@@BRStv i'm on city water. here in des moines iowa we have one of the best water plants in the midwest. since the floods of 93 where we were without water for almost 2 months while there rebuilt the water plant in des moines. I saw on the news that they have a problem with nitrates in our city water. so it is what it is.
I like the way some company has one bracket that holds like 5 canisters , very neat looking . Can you make me one ? Are your canisters more heavy duty than the competition or the same ? I would also like just RO water only for drinking & ice cubes , Even though my fish are more important than my crummy family . Hee Hee . I think most RO faucets are 3/8 " your drinking water bladder kit is like a 1/4 " , I think . How bout making the 3/8 " an option . Your costumer service can't be beat !
I'll have to suggest the 5 canister bracket to the team. While our canisters are pretty heavy duty, they're not exclusive to BRS units. I'm sure there are other companies out there that use the same quality canisters. We do have an RO only system option on our website if you need a stand alone system for drinking water, or you could tee the RO line before the DI resin. We'll likely stick with 1/4" tubing, but we do stock a 1/4" to 3/8" RO tubing adapter.
Why is it that I have to screw on the canister so tightly now so it won’t leak on me? Is this a manufacturing issue?? I own the 6 stage brs rodi
Over time, the O-ring on the canisters may compress or get pinched. If that's the case, replacing the O-ring should do the trick!
When will you have the 4 stage back in stock
We're working on it as best we can given the current COVID situation. :)
Out here in phx az our tds coming out of the tap is about 5k tds. it's so hard out here is the 5 stage going to take care of that? Thanks guys! 🙏
5,000 TDS? Yikes! 75 GPD Dow membranes are rated for 99% rejection rate, so even assuming that you're running at peak efficiency, you'd still be pumping 50 TDS water out of the membrane and into your DI resin. That's going to mean that you'll use up DI resin incredibly quickly
@@BRStv I agree sadly
Hey guys. My question is this. I live in Southern California and we have copper pipes. Will these systems remove traces of copper?
@Heavygun1450 Thanks for your reply. This is my next purchase for my aquarium. It's been on my wish list for quite awhile now. Your system is the best I've researched to date. Hopefully I'll be able to purchase it soon. Yoi guys are great at what you do.
Noel
P.s. Brian, I apologize for not getting back tp talk about flow in my aquarium in Anaheim. Do to my disability I couldn't return on Sunday.
Yep! That shouldn't be an issue. The membranes that we use are rated for an up to 99% reduction in copper.
Guys, I just got a 4 stage from you. I am yet to use it. But can you let me know if that is sufficient for taking out 2.1ppm of chlorine? I looked at my local water authority report and the Max was 2.8 and the minimum 0.8, the average was 2.1
If it's just chlorine, then it shouldn't be an issue.
They are all out of stock. So I purchased another brand. Its 4-2-20
Fair enough. We've been waiting on more mounting brackets and thankfully, they've just arrived. We have a limited team working due to Covid-19, however we'll be working hard to make more in the coming days :)
For how long 0TDS ?
How long individual filters last is dependent on a number of factors like how much water you're producing and more importantly, what's in the water being filtered. For example, water high in co2 will cause the DI resin to exhaust quickly and you'll start to see TDS reading on your meter faster than the same water supply without the co2 issue.
4:58 great trump impression
Tried and proven 👍🏾👍🏾
