Simply genius. Suggestion : add a spring loaded switch under the pressing arm such that when you bring it down it automatically presses the switch and table on and when you lift it it turns off.

One suggestion. If the motor can be started with the press of handle, it would be super easy. You will need a push button to be installed near the hinge/bolt where the handle pivots.

This is genius. You should be making a boatload of money selling this.
Sorry to say but business models don’t make boatload of money selling this. There are obviously many genius products and effective but where do you see them being sold? I am a designer and I like this guy did a really good job. Only benefit I see of this machine in rural areas to support women and women create papad,etc business. Even they will buy only if it’s cheaper.

As for the start/stop red buton, i wonder if it can be done automatically when lowering and lifting up the PVC bar on the dough.
Also, if possible to make with PVC the whole thing instead of wood,. It would be lighter and easier to clean and healthier (bacteria free).

Wood cutting boards can be cleaned and sterilized by scrubbing them it soapy water with a little Clorox added. This was done it many kitchens I’ve worked in. Never had a problem with bacteria.

For me this seems to be the best approach to simplify the process, however the use of the plastic sheets which are a must in this case; seems not so user friendly. Just my humble opinion! But it's very practical to peel off the chapati!
Some suggestions:
1. The roller or baylon should have a slight taper from centre to the bearing ends, maximum diameter at the centre. This is called crowning in the industry to keep things positively centred and not depending on chance. So builders will not get frustrated.
2. The sprocket wheel looks dangerous because it could hurt youngsters experimenting in a hurry. Use some other coupling device.
3. Using the polpat was so practical.

Instead of red switch add a actuator switch with the handle so when the handle is pushed down the motor start rotating.

If you use roller and round wooden plate with Teflon, it will be very efficient and of production quality. You have a great idea that is very useful and economical. Nice work friend.

Taking inspiration from this I converted my wet grinder into a roti maker by attaching to it frame with two rollers and a chapatti rolling disc in the mouth of grinder jar. It works fine ,saves time .Its fantastic for rolling poories.Many thanks for the idea. My improvisation saved making of the whole wooden infacture and a motor.

One problem you have to keep switching in and off
The power should automatically turned on when you press the rolling pin and stop when you release it
its doing such a great job and you see a problem in that also.. Why don't try building one that can fix this problem, now that rest of the steps are in this video, you can make adjustments to make it automatic.

Made it and it's not working...., the problem is the rollers won't turn as the bottom plastic sheet keeps sliding over the "chakla" and also the rollers skid over the top plastic sheet. I made a mount version for butterfly wet grinder. I wonder how it works in the video. After a lot of work such as shaft welding(I am not a welder just bought new welding machine to learn), grinding fitting and refitting to help out my mom I am really frustrated. If I remove the plastic sheets it works fine but its practically inapplicable. I would much appreciate if the roller or the pvc sizes , the plastic sheets used , the sizes of the bearings used were mentioned. I used 6201z bearings, with a custom made 12mm shaft made out of welding screws, hot glue, dual sided tape to mount bearings into the 1.5 inch pvc tube rollers. Fastened the bearings using glue, nut and also dual sided tape. The only problem with this design is the rollers need to rotate when pressed against the wooden round platform but that is not possible because the rollers don't make contact with the platform because of dough.

Three suggestions
1. It switches on when you lower the handle.
2. It switches off automatically after 30 seconds. That way you can do something else in the kitchen and just keep feeding it the balls of dough.
3. The handle should be weighted more heavily to push down so you don't have to stand like an idiot with hand on machine
