- A pac-man clone/remake I've been working on for the past 4 days.
My original intention was to keep the gameplay as close as the original, ranging from ghost behavior, to speed and fright time and stuff. Graphics are x4 the original game's size. I've included a dip-switch-like configuration screen to further tweak the gameplay.
I've codenamed it Pac-Man 5 because there were 5 ghosts and because it was 7 AM and I hadn't had any sleep at all jeez.

Your game gives a new meaning to Pac-Man! Just finished playing and it's a pretty cool experience, and I haven't even played around with all the different settings yet! Can't wait to do just that!
Your game is a awesome remake its one of the best Pac-Man remakes Ive seen! It has many options and the dance Pac-Man mode which I especially like is really fun to play with nice visuals and good music. I hope you do more remakes of other 80's games.

Holy shit this is amazing. The ghost behavior is exactly the same as the original ROM set, I was able to clear the first maze using the arcade cherry pattern. That alone puts every other remake or port of this game to shame.

How did you achieve Pac-Man to "quick-turn"? I'm making a remake using Game Maker 8.0, and that's a major problem, because it's impossible to outrun the ghosts.

Did you take the Ghosts' AI straight from Pac-man or did you make them yourself?
That question is hard to interpret properly because yes, I made the AI myself, from scratch, but I coded it so that they would behave EXACTLY as it does in the original Pac-Man (It even mimics the randomized scatter mode present in Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man); so I don't know exactly what's the aim of the question hahaha
This applies at least to the first 4 ghosts, Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, which behave exactly like they do in the original pac-man, and Sue (The purple one with bedroom eyes) which behaves like in Pac-Mania (Constantly chasing Pac-Man, like Blinky but without going into scatter mode at all save for the 180º turns).
The jumping ghosts behave slightly differently depending of the game mode; either they chase Pac-Man at all times like Sue, or: Funkys (green) follow Sue at all times and Spunkys (gray) follow Blinky at all times (I forgot if I actually changed this, if anything else, they behave as the latter).
Finally, yum-yum constantly follows Blinky and, as an easter egg, does *NOT* hurt Jr. Pac-Man.

As such, a pattern used in the original pac-man *should* technically work on this game as well.

I give you my gratitude for making this "remix" if I can call it that. I love playing Pac-man in HD. It feels very much like the original and I prop you for keeping the Ghosts' AI in this. I didn't much enjoy Ms.Pac-Man due to the lack of the AI. And Thank you for the response

The ghosts in my Ms. Pac-Man mode *do* move the way they do in the original Ms. Pac-Man though (Using a random number generator to determine the direction during scatter mode, instead of always targeting their own corners like they do in the original Pac-Man) but outside scatter mode, they do move using the same logic as in the original Pac-Man (Blinky chases, Pinky ambushes, Inky does his wacky thing, and Clyde chases then runs away if he gets too close). Jr Pac-Man uses the same algorithm as Ms. Pac-Man so it's affected as well; so it's still as close to the "original thing" as possible too.
No, just right click on the Ghosts button until she appears.
Also yeah she only appears intermittently after level 10. It's kind of a semi-secret easter egg at this point.

What causes the 'angry eyes' on the ghost monsters
At certain points near the end of the level, Blinky will begin to speed up, and the angry eyes are an indicator
not really big much of a difference! you added a in-game music , options, hd version and, dance pac man, ms pacman and jr and thats it! i was expecting it a better one :/ thats not a mean message or anything

I'm too busy and out of it to make a tutorial or anything. You'll have to find a way of making a pac-man by yourself by reading the pac-man dossier and don hodges page, and maybe looking at others tutorials, if there's any. Google ought to help you more than I can. Again I'm sorry that I don't wanna help and sorry if I'm being too rude right now.

I... I know it's kind of selfish from me but I worked really hard on this thing and I wouldn't want anyone to just take the source, slightly mod it, compile it and share it as a brand new game.
Maybe a few years after I've finished working on it I could release a dumbed down version of it or something like that; for anyone who wants to see how it's done.
The core of the game happens on a single frame, which has over 1000 events...
