Thank you so much Robinhood of the LS motors. 6 years later and it’s still helping people like me. I want to try and get into tuning my C/10 and this kind of content really helps. I’ve spent $1300 in tuning my truck twice so I really need to learn this so I can put that money back in truck parts, not paying someone else to tune it. You’re the man!

Hey slops, Uncle Steve here....GREAT feedback from all the comments. we can certainly do more videos like that, probably 30-60 min each, covering detailed segments of tuning in HP Tuners and MS. they will come with a cost as i am sure many of you would expect. Matt has already spent thousands of hours giving away free stuff. kicking it up a notch like this and getting legit software and taking feedback and making a product he needs to be compensated for his work, we will probably sell them for like $25-$50 a piece, depending on 30 min to an hour. still plenty of other free vids on this channel, and every once in awhile we may throw up a freebie like this for everyone. ftw.

What a fucked up design. The engineers put a damn accelerator pump on a carb, but they don't add fuel to accelerate with EFI? These aren't fucking Briggs and Strattons. You're the man!

Nice very helpful , please keep these coming , even though I use the EFI live , most tables are the same just the user interface is different . Lol when I turboed my 6.0 lq4 , I'd that problem where when I floored the timing went to like -2 degrees , I was like wtf . Later that day I found the IAT timing table was pulling like 12 degrees from the main table lol . This video would have definitely helped me back then .

  • @GTPSilvermist

Just another pro-tip for new people to HP Tuners, you can "LOCK" your stock file if you want too as well. It's a better way to go in my eyes. You are switching it a read only file that will never allow you to save it or over write the file on accident.
Here is how you do it. Download the stock file or find it after you have done so. Right click the file and scroll down to properties on the very bottom. It will open a menu and you will find about 3/4th the way down a check box to have it as "read only" and then click apply and ok to finish. Now you will have a file that can't be screwed with and will always be there if you need to go back to it for some reason.

I would love to see a video compairing the platforms and benifits of both, also would love input on what is avable on the trans tuing side, as thats one thing stock ecu can save a good amount of money on compaired to stand alones.

Great vid bud. I'm sure this may have been posted. I'm not going to search through 177 comments. I hope the individual's truck you tuned, you highly recommended a injector change. I saw where it hit over 102%. Typically anything over 80% on a LS or LS based motor means the injector never shuts off. Not good for longevity and running a risk.

So this is what you mean that some tunes are pig rich and some are shockingly lean at WOT. Minor nit: The PE delay RPM is when you are below 5500. Above it enables PE instantly. It would be fair to mention that a stock LQ4 never sees 5500 rpm though. I will say that GM used this strategy on old TBI trucks with the '7747 ECM. Why? No idea.

Wouldn't giving the high octane ignition timing table to the low octane table cause detonation if you run the low octane fuel? Forgive if this is a stupid question. I'm definitely learning.

    • @JJREKracing
      @JJREKracing 8 лет назад +2

Ricky Hart That's definitely a possibility, but 1) you should be running a consistent octane fuel after tuning around a specific octane (or better octane) and 2) your timing tables shouldn't be aggressive enough for knock to rear it's ugly head if you had to run a lower octane fuel or even accidentally bad fuel.

Great video bud !!! If you were next to me I would give you a 2016 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. These videos are great (as I am new to learning HPT).

Really easy to follow along. Some suggestions for topics to someone new like me.
Could you explain how the VE works along with the MAF?
I have heard guys say that " MAF Only" is better for a stock truck, or that blending between is better. I know that for boosted most guys just jump to speed density.
Also an issue I ran into was AFRs going lean as my IATs went up. I have read that it has something to do with the "BIAS" table and the values inside. It seems to be an issue that alot seem to have run into and just tune around.
Do you have a strategy for this?
Lastly is idle tuning idle. Could you go over how someone would start working on getting a good idle after mods such as a cam?
    Thanks for your time.

Do you have a video showing the correct way to calibrate MAF to match these changes if needed?

Looks like GM changed these PE and EQ "problems" that Matt references in this video. My 2012 2500 6.0L already has very similar changes and AFR changes as expected.

Hey Matt, just a tip. You can get high quality recording done with Open Broadcasting Software, no logo on the video and crazy good quality.
