Theory:
Denise's parents kept fighting and fighting since she was young. When Denise started going to school, she used school/studying as a distraction from the fighting of her parents, that's why in the much older videos, Denise was so early to enter in zoom classes and kept going to school everyday before it even opened, she is so excited for school, keeps studying everyday. When Denise's parents finally divorced, Her mother had custody over Denise (that's why we can't see her father). Denise's mother saw Denise's grades and decided that she could use Denise's intelligence to show off to her aunties, uncles, and even her ex-husband. So she pressured Denise that she could have perfect grades. Then, Denise started to lose motivation for school because it felt more of a "chore" now. That's maybe why she isn't that much willing to study anymore... This may just be me overthinking but I don't know TwT

When the food fight starts, Denise covers her ears because it was very loud, she probably got flashbacks from the fighting of her parents.

Denise was afraid of the "gun shots", it might probably be because of the sounds and she couldn't even cover her ears because she couldn't move. The noises probably gave her flashbacks from her parents throwing things around while fighting(edit:)(thank u for so much likes^^)

Interesting theory, but it seems like a stretch as it stands. What we've already seen of the mom is supposed to be story depth to Denise being comically smart and studious, and nothing we've seen Denise do necessarily implies anything beyond how that conflict is something she prefers to avoid. I don't recall this series ever providing any information about the dad, so for all we know he could simply be working all the time. That seems to be the kind of man the mom is interested in.
It's normal for someone principled to be uncomfortable in loud and disarrayed situations. The Squid Game episode was just a dream Mr. Dan had.

@@akshlo879 It's clear that Vincent is a troublemaker and has many character flaws, which is why Denise has been reluctant to be too intimate with him. Denise's internal conflict of being indecisive about whether she should choose JianHao or choose Vincent as a boyfriend reveals a good-natured part of Denise's character, that she is able to see the good in people despite the bad that they may demonstrate at times. It's unlikely that Vincent lacking prosperity is much of a factor in his relationship with Denise. Vincent is funny, has some talents such as cooking, and has clearly known Denise for a long while, so the two have always remained as at least friends.
I feel bad for Denise because she has to go through a lot and her parents are not being very helpful to her because they should be letting her follow her dreams.her parents should let her hang out w her friends

Denise’s mom was born poor and became rich through her smarts/was self-made. Denise’s dad was rich and connected and his family didn’t approve of their marriage. Denise’s mom was the inventor of AI, but her husband used the family’s connections to steal the invention. Denise’s mom is mad and wants her to take revenge by being even smarter. Jianhao’s mother was involved with stealing her invention, and that’s why her mom hates Jianhao. Denise’s mom is friends with Leanne Loh, who is the person behind the Organization, and she set up the entire organization to take over titan academy and make it a place where Denise could excel, and also try to find a way to chuck out the Tans. Is my theory too crazy?

That is such a good quote. I think too many people are placed under heavy expectations nowadays, like they have to be rich or smart or beautiful, and trying to live up to those expectations can almost kill people mentally and physically.
Kindness is so healing, it helped me face these struggles. I hope all you young people out there understand that people will love you more if you just are yourself, and I know, somewhere in everybody is that little seed of kindness, waiting to grow.

In watching this video, and reading Jianhao's comment, I've wanted to clarify that whilst having a kind heart, we also need to understand the need to be judgemental in certain scenarios and not be kind - and learn to let go when it's needed. Being kind certainly has its necessities, but with great kindness comes great responsibility.
In retrospect, Maddy really needs to learn how to get over Vincent or call him out and move on. It's clear there is incompatibility, yet I feel like this plot is going nowhere since the same outcome always occurs (in which Maddy and Vincent are together but one is always left disappointed for one reason or another). At this point I'd be expecting some sort of change, not a loophole with negligible plot development!! Possibly attesting to this is that Vincent spends a lot on Denise but little on Maddy. Maybe this will affect how things works out if Jianhao spills the beans to Maddy.
Also in more recent videos, Rid is always hit on head with one object or another. I kind of want to see him mend things with Kevin and Peishi as the alternate version of himself we saw in 2022. Perhaps we will see this version of himself again soon, maybe this is going to be something cool to revisit!

me being upper-middle class (I don't consider that's rich) but it comes with ups and downs like the extra classes (Tennis, Japanese, Math, Tennis, Soccer, Art, Piano, Cello, English) are sometimes so annoying, I sometimes wish I had as much free time as my friends. But it comes with ups too, like I usually can go out to fancy restaurants. sooooo
