I was just called into a ward bishopric yesterday after more than 20 years as a member. I too was a convert as an adult, coming from a Southern Baptist church. It was the best decision of my life. I know this is where God wants me to be.
I've been a bit less active in the church for about four years, I live in Colombia and I love watching Saints Unscripted videos, they really help me feel more willing to come back to full time activity in the church. These messages really touch my heart and help me feel our Savior's love.
Awesome story! I converted from catholicism and was very analytical too in studying the trinitarian concept, priesthood authority, etc. So blessed to have the restored Gospel.

As a grandfather, I hope that my granddaughters will someday be able to bear witness of the truthfulness of the restored gospel like you do on this video. Quick question: why did you block out God from your "G-d bless?" Did you not want God to see? Is wanting to God to bless someone offensive to God? Is saying God in the proper context, such as this, taking God's name in vain? I'm real confused.

Great story. I'm a life-long Latter-day Saint. Its interesting to me, because my Baptist friends don't seem to have many pressing questions that would lead them to search. They seem to be pretty happy with believing that they are saved. It often makes me wonder -- what would get someone who believes that they are saved interested in anything else?
I have wondered that too. Reasonably the Protestant idea of no works salvation is that you have the greatest judge, God, giving you the greatest reward, in their view, salvation, so it doesn't leave something to reach for to have a growth mindset.
Hanna, amazing story. I hope you feel at home in the Church pf Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My mother is a convert. She was previously raised a Lutheran. She wanted to be baptized as a teen but my grandparents made her wait till she was 18. I am curious what doctrines or spiritual feelings drew you to the church? I know you mentioned the trinity. Was it difficult to switch believing in a trinitarian God vs the idea that God, the Savior, and Holy Ghost are separate individuals? Or, was it easy to believe? I've heard some say it's easier to believe in a God who we are actual offspring of vs a God that is not the least bit related to us and who is some entity that manifests itself as the Spirit and in human form as Jesus. I appreciate you sharing your journey and it strengthened my feelings and convictions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This was so interesting, but there is one thing I disagree with, based on my own personal experience, and that is in regards to asking questions. I told the missionaries that I still had a lot of questions, but they said I could I could ask questions at church, even after I was baptized, but the first time and only time that I tried that, the teacher in my Gospel Principles class rebuked me in front of the whole class for doing so. She said in future save those kinds of questions for outside of class because it was inappropriate to ask questions when there were 'investigators' present. I can't remember now what I asked, but it was doctrinal and it was something, as a new LDS member, that I needed to know. I was shocked and humiliated and it hit me in that moment that once you are baptized you were not permitted to ask questions anymore. My advice to anyone who is thinking of joining the LDS Church is to postpone baptism until you have the answers to your most weighty questions answered, no matter what the missionaries tell you to the contrary. Big no-no, apparently!
I'll take a jab at the teacher and your question. She possibly didn't know the answer snd unfortunately in her own insecurity got nervous and unintentionally took it out on you. So sorry that happened but with all member called to teach one another the gospel we are learning too. She should have said she didn't have the answer but wants to know that too and will help you by finding out! Never left these culture issues of our participatory teaching get 8n the way of what you personally need. There's always help and answers and people so willing to help you. Never left someone else make you feel offended by their inappropriate actions. There's so many wonderful things to learn and I love helping young people when they have questions and will any time I'm asked. God bless you on your journey there's nothing to fill your life with so much truth and peace as this gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am sorry for your experience. That was a while ago since we no longer have Gospel Principles class. In my Gospel Doctrine class I welcome any questions in class or outside. You are permitted to ask questions after baptism. It may have been a case of a poor teacher. If she was worried about investigators then she should have just met with you after class to answer any concerns you had. The missionaries prepare you for baptism and give basic information. Members and teachers and bishops could answer any other questions before or after baptism. So if you have any questions feel free to ask me and I will do my best.
