When Heilung travels to perform their rituals (what they call their shows) they always invite the local indigenous tribe to perform with them. you don't go to someone else's lands and invoke your gods without first asking permission. During the closing piece, usually hamrer Hippyer sees the locals return to the stage with them to dance and sing together. An amazing display of mutual respect.
That makes complete sense now that you say it, but I hadn't thought about it until then. There is a very vibrant indigenous culture(s) where I live and this is exactly the kind of respect they would show as well.

To be fair, Heilung doesn't really preserve any existing culture, they constructed a new one on the basis of archaeological findings. And yes, I know the artists do actually identify with this kind of old Germanic culture and do those rituals as a serious thing and all, but it's still a recreation with a lot of freedom, not a continuation of anything and they also do a lot of stylistic choices that are clearly for the sake of the show and not because it's more authentic.

What I love about Heilung is the inclusion of small details you wouldn't notice unless you knew the historical context, like how they repeat the runes nine times, with nine being a very important number as it was the number of days and nights that Odin hung himself as a sacrifice (to himself) to gain knowledge in the form of the runes. Wardruna had a list of the runes in songs, my favourite being Fehu which means 'fortune' (mostly in cattle form) and is a song warning about a beast that comes to take all the fortune because they hoarded it

Hello, good evening sir! I have an advice try one song from Beogradski sindikat-ljubav u inat. This song have strong message,i think you and ppl that watch will like It.
It is interesting to hear your perspective on some of the music I hear. Heilung reconstructs historical Nordic and Germanic music. I think Heilung's music is "pretty wild". I have been to a concert with them a couple of times when they have been through Denmark. Several of their concerts are like being part of a prehistoric ritual. It's not just music, it's a total performance 🙂
At 1:38 you can see the exact moment that just the mention that other cultures don't believe what he believes DEEPLY offends and unsettles the guy on the left wearing blue.
It gives me a warm Feeling how respectfull these wise man speak about our old cultures. Now i want to learn more about their culture and music. I know it will be a great experiance.
As always they have great insight. Abdul, She is indeed giving a lesson, Sir, and representing her culture. Muharam: you always resonate with the music the way I do, it is a delight to see. Im so glad to see more people discovering Heilung. I was so excited to see them in concert recently.

good video. i woul love to see more heilung on this chanel. it is a deep sight to the world of ancient europe. and i like to hear the opinions of your people about it
Something that they might like to know about, with the way the singers raise the notes and have that sudden vibratos, and halts, is that the songs were sung in fjords and deep valleys that make those sounds echo, some would echo so well you would hear as if the mountains sang back. Just thought they might think that is interesting and give some clues as to why the language and music is played the way it is.
Lovely video as always! I'd love these guys to watch some of the Heilung's "Drif" album - namely Asja, Nesso or Anoana. Think they would enjoy it greatly, Maria's voice in these is just angelic!
I saw Heilung for the first time last year. It was absolutely extraordinary, I'd urge anyone to go and see them, it's just beautiful, unlike anything I've ever seen before. "Remember that we are all brothers. All people." ❤
Heilung love to connect with other tribal people and in the US and Canada always try to get some Natives to perform the preshow. And Kai especially loves to connect with other ancient traditions, such as the natives traditions etc in northern america. I don't know if he also has contacts to middle and south american natives, but it wouldn't surprise me.^^

@TRYBALS Hello Adnan! I have some Bob Ross items Id love to send, for a Bob Ross Party, or just to pass out amongst the guys. Is there an address or Post Office Box number that I could use?
Abdul's commentary that she sounds like she's giving a lesson - this kind of monotone singing is used as a memorization technique in some cultures, right? Is that what he means here, is that something he's familiar with from his life?
The old ways are one my father has raised me in. My mother raised me a Catholic, my father raised me to know the Nordic Pagan Gods. Im a bit of a weird blend of heretic in a way. I find it fascinating hearing your reactions.
Same. My father was raised Protestant (his family was originally from Germany) but he didn't make us go to church or anything because he'd always said he'd grown tired of the hypocrisy of it (do what you want, go to church on Sunday and "get wiped clean", rinse and repeat). My mother was from Iceland and even though Christianity is well rooted in Iceland and she was raised Lutheran, they also maintained a respect for the old ways as well. My mother taught me about the old gods in stories, etc. as I was growing up but as an adult, I struggled under Christianity and when I was seeking something different, my blood called me back to my roots (Norse/Germanic Paganism) and I've been much more at peace since. But yes! You're so right. I LOVE watching their reactions to things because they're so respectful about it even though alot of things are so different than their culture...but they're also quick to see the similarities (like the instruments).
I always admire the insightful comments Sean Connery (sorry, I don't know his name but everyone can understand) make, he not only look wise he also sound so
So in the intro they describe “Krigsgäldr” - that is the song about the village and going to war. This song is simply an incantation of the runes of the old Norse alphabet.
Excellent work, sir. The messages that these Tribal individuals convey when doing these reactions, the Alice In Chains vid specifically, are sorely needed for people of the West to hear. Please continue and good health to you and your family.
I love this channel so much. I'm always curious what they'd think of me, a trans woman. I don't even care if it's negative, I'd be fascinated to hear those thoughts from someone who (presumably) hasn't been influenced by the culture that derides me and people like me.
What culture derides you? I notice overwhelming tolerance almost everywhere insofar as rewriting portions of the English language for the feelings of a very small percentage of the population among many many other acts of inclusion.
@@rotten7493 yes, those things have been nice. Don't get me wrong, it's been a huge improvement over the past few years. I just don't like being looked at like a novelty or a fetish. I want to go see Heilung with Mr. Muharam! I *JUST* missed seeing them live when I was back in the States (I live in Costa Rica now), so it would be extra special to witness one of my favorite bands playing live for the first time with him.
My favorite Heilung track. So glad you like it! Keep up the great reactions!
Thank you for the video! It is very interesting to hear how they feel, experience and view this piece of culture.
This is beautiful. Thank you for showing them our cultural expressions! ❤
Kudos to u too Gentlemen. Thank u for your wisdom
Grandfather Abdul is quite right, at 7:38 where he suggests that they may pay respect to animal spirits/gods. Respect brother.
This is such a fun channel . :)
Hi guys! Wish I could meet y'all in person. :)
(I'm from USA but...) That's my [Heilung's interpretation of ] ancestral stuff. (+ some native American ancestry, specifically Onondaga, from central NY - have you done any of that?)
Thanks Adnan, for creating this channel, & bringing it to the world, & bringing us all together. :)
It's interesting that people from other cultures are just as touched and attracted by this music as we are.
Voice is the first instrument, drums are the second instrument, around the entire world, the musical language is the same
I could sit and talk to that elder gentleman Abdul for hours and I don't even speak his language, he is absolutely immersed and fascinated to learn new things.
good video. i woul love to see more heilung on this chanel. it is a deep sight to the world of ancient europe. and i like to hear the opinions of your people about it
Something that they might like to know about, with the way the singers raise the notes and have that sudden vibratos, and halts, is that the songs were sung in fjords and deep valleys that make those sounds echo, some would echo so well you would hear as if the mountains sang back.
All people." ❤
I love your videos, thank you!
Good work to put the video up and don't get blocked! 👍
Proud to be a Viking here :) One can see how they where feared across the world at thire time.
Heilung love to connect with other tribal people and in the US and Canada always try to get some Natives to perform the preshow. And Kai especially loves to connect with other ancient traditions, such as the natives traditions etc in northern america. I don't know if he also has contacts to middle and south american natives, but it wouldn't surprise me.^^
It would be a dream come true to see a Heilung ritual in person.
good to see that you share so much knowledge with your guests, and also really study the song and band before. very nice. by the way, they used the beginning of the song in the first game trailer for "hellblade 2". the newer game trailer is using a different heilung song, which they already performed live. its a wonderful song. feel free to check out "heilung - seidh"
Parts of this sound like Himalayan Throat singing. Really beautiful and fierce!
Hey , you know what be really cool to see how some of the Tribal People would react on a Isle of Man TT Video ^^ i think that would blow some minds haha keep up the good work ;) greetings from germany
@TRYBALS Hello Adnan! I have some Bob Ross items Id love to send, for a Bob Ross Party, or just to pass out amongst the guys. Is there an address or Post Office Box number that I could use?
The most important sentence...."...and it's necessary to protect every culture in the world."
'Tribal people react to tribal people'
Lordy, the set is lookin' fire!
It’s really well thought out for this show. Homely but in the most excellent way.
Who edited the loading symbol on Sir's head 😂❤ love you guys.
I really enjoyed this. 🙂
We are all connected, sirs. Our cultures intertwine at one point of our lives in the past.
I LOVE watching their reactions to things because they're so respectful about it even though alot of things are so different than their culture...but they're also quick to see the similarities (like the instruments).
interesting as always thank you and thank them
Woo more Heilung! Another one I recommend is Norupo
React to Keith green he was a great musician, Create in me a clean heart and Oh Lord you are beautiful are my favorite songs.
Love how Muharam is just vibing to the music ❤
They should react to some classical music!! I suggest Chopin-Ballade n.1 performed by Zimerman
I'm sure they will appreciate it cause everyone does
I always admire the insightful comments Sean Connery (sorry, I don't know his name but everyone can understand) make, he not only look wise he also sound so
So in the intro they describe “Krigsgäldr” - that is the song about the village and going to war.
I work with people who stare at me like some I'm some sort of oddity. I know I'm different and I welcome questions looking to learn about me but that's just not the vibe a lot of people exude.
Thank you.
Bro....I love these people!
we love you Abdul
The Rey (John) Mysterio comparison was hilarious haha so random
This was really interesting!!!
An incantation of sorts. To call upon higher powers. Music has its roots in this. It also has the power to unite or divide. Just like all speech. It's a very powerful thing. Personally, I believe in preservation and appreciation.
I absolutely love this channel and find myself always coming back to it. I think you should have them react to Pakistani rock band Karakoram. They're really good. You should have them react to Kal Nahi or Ye Dunya (ft. Talha Anjum) if you want a broader genre. I think Ye Dunya will be more interesting as it is a fusion of styles. Love from India!
Wish i can see them live!
If that was there reaction to Heilung I can't wait until they listen to Eihwar.
" ah yes just like we use an axe just to cut our cake" like, what?! xD
I'd love them to see some Huun Huur Tu! A similar vibe as Heilung, but Mongolian.
I would love to see a reaction to the Cat Stevens song “Father And Son” much love from Porterville ❤
“Fehu” is not only cattle- in a more general sense, it can refer to any form of material wealth. Gold, cattle, lands, slaves.
This makes me curious what they would think about the voice of Eivør.
