usually i accept friend requests and then ask them in the chat who they are or what they want and when they dont have a reason to be my friend i unfriend them, anyone with a bit of common sense should be able to know when someone tries to scam them and if they do its funny to mess with them
I always start talking in some random language and some scammers even go as far as using a translator to realise after half an hour that I've been a brainless idiot
I dont accept friend requests and dont decline them either. The more friend requests come, the more I feel like I matter and people want to be friends with me.

This happened to a friend of me not long ago: he got a friend request, accepted it, the scammer said that he accidentily reported the steam account of him (he linked his steam with discord), and then the scammer wanted the account data of his account so it didnt get banned nothing happened because the scammer was suspecious (he wrote in those .txt files and did lots of typing mistakes) and we did not fall for the scam. If you feel like you are getting scammed or someone wants your info, search up the scam and there will be lots of websites with how to not fall for these kind of scams. And dont click on any links! I usually don't accept discord request because of safety reasons. But a 2 months ago i got request from a user "Your master" and there wasn't any mutual server, i joked around with my friends like "Imagine you made a mistake in your life and then get a friend request from YOUR MASTER" and we start to make Gachi jokes in Voice chat. On a next day i was suspicious about this friend request, but a accepted it. User instantly replied with screenshot where was me and user's friend and said "It was a little mistake". We had a similar nicknames with same numbers. Difference was a "Влад#..." Reads like "Vlad" but user's friend nickname was "Bлад#..." with english "B" because it looks similar to russian "V". I replied with "Ah, it's ok" and then we had a nice conversation and said "Bye" to each other. And then we didn't wright to each other again. It was wholesome moment. Sometimes random wholesome moments like this happens. But it was kinda risky for me accept because it could be a bot that just sending request and leaving server. I still think better be safe and do not accept a random friend request then let your guard down one day and be in danger.
This is why I always ask people why they add me. I've always been super cautious knowing about all these scams, mostly because I've gotten at least 5 scam dms and I've yet to fall for one
What I like to think is: your PC is like your home. In your home you have your address, your personal information, maybe even your credit cards in the wallet on your desk. Would you let a stranger get into your home, not being sure if they're going to take a peek into those things? NO! Your pc is the same. Be careful who you let in.
As a developer I usually link to my discord profile for any suggestions and/or bug reports since I don't wanna manage a server so I always accept requests if I don't share a server with them, if I do I just msg them straight away... and I mean all scams come from a shared server anyways

That's why I'm glad the real System Message has a bunch of stuff that makes it completely impossible to replicate. Like the fact that you can't even respond to the genuine one. If you see the system message and you're able to respond; you already know it's fake.
