Since the portuguese had a better contact with the Tupi, the took the names they gave to other peoples. Even though, almost, every community on the region was part of the “Ge” culture. There were also the “Tamoios” (name given by the Tupi), meaning “those who came before the Tupi” and also the ones called “Tupinambás” (named by the Tupis as well), meaning “those who came after the Tupi”.
@@TheRedHawk EU4's lacking a lot of tribes from early Brazil. We understand that would make the game more complex for no meaningful reason, still, there are really REALLY amazing tribes missing. Take Yucatan or even the great lakes plurality of tribes and apply to Brazil's region and you'll get an idea of how populous the region was (even though smaller in absolute numbers)

They weren't the only coppersmiths in Mesoamerica, in fact copper and even bronzeworking was pretty widespread by the late postclassic. That being said, the Purepecha state was one of the largest producers and exporters of metal goods.

The Chinese tech thing is tied to religion. Pagan hordes become Chinese. Christian hordes get Eastern tech and Muslim hordes get Muslim tech group. If you wanted, you could flip Christian via rebels and then reform to get Eastern tech. I'm not sure it matters though.

Purepecha is fairly conquest focused in it's ideas with core creation discounts, less separatism and other things. So Clearly we need a sweet trade focused goal. Get the Trading in Bonus and production leader bonus for Sugar and Cocoa to make some sweet chocolate. As a mesoamerican country that should not be too bad. And at least it is a slightly different goal than normal. Now I'm off to make some hot chocolate.

I converted to catholic via decision, managed to free-PU my ally Spain and conquered all of South America with catholic natives. Fun times.

Also, take tribal land from enemies when possible. Lastly, if you are up for restarts reroll till you get great initial ruler.

I've actually played as Tapuia, fun campaign. But i was also super-lucky with the colonizer: spain and aragon were rivals, portugal wasn't allied with those, they were a bit late on colonization and had only land on carribean island, England focused on north america, France was involved in many european wars and was not fully unified... the first 2 colonizers that landend in South america near to me were Brittany and Holland.

This gameplay does not reflect Brazil's situation at the time; South America indeed had half the population of Africa. Even so, the entire coast was dominated by different tribes, and the inland tribes were even more fierce. It would be great if one day the developers gave 1% of the same attention they give to Europe, to the Global South.

Every time Hawk becomes a horde I know I´m in for dissapointment, he never stays horde, his horse has never gone BRRR, we truly live in the saddest timeline. :´(
1-there's no FoW for the IA, they'll always see exactly where you are and where you click to go. 2-the Caribe War: I believe the IA set the landing point on Trinidad but since by then atrition would killl their ships, they didn't even bother. Since Castille have no colonized land to recruit from, they did nothing. I also believe the IA can't desembark on uncolonized provinces, there's to be a province port, even a foreign one at least. But I'm not 100% sure about that last one.
Since you're doing tribal nations I would like to make a suggestion - could you form a post colonial nation(ex: Brazil) with a native state? Not a "beat the colonisers" challenge, just taking a indigenous polity and creating a colonial country, if it does make it to the end(or even thrive) that would be awesome though
A tribal OPM from south america, isolated from all civilization, in 100 years went from ooga booga to guns and cannons, something that took europe and asia 10000 years. Seems legit.

I like to go with show strength wars as a native to gain. A competitive advantage over them quicker. Gets to tech 6 quicker too
