    • @erkfast4546
      @erkfast4546 12 days ago +3

      в прорезь легче попасть отверткой, чем сверху тыкать в доску, в поисках отверстия, особенно, если полка висит выше уровня глаз, а если над полкой повесить ещё одну, то в нижнюю полку сверху в отверстие отвертку уже не вставишь: соседняя полка будет мешать и т.д. в общем прорезь - это очень нужная и удобная вещь )

    Everyone saying this is “over engineering” has not spent enough time in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
    If you have workers of various heights, no you cannot just “add a hole and you’re done”. Imagine being 5’ woodworker and you try to pull out an 8” screw driver? The slot is needed.
    When you have that continual improvement mindset, the paint makes sense over standard measuring methods if it could save you even a couple of seconds per jig/ tool holder/ whatever.

    • @PolicyReport-rt3pw
      @PolicyReport-rt3pw 10 days ago +4

      Honey. I worked as a manufacturing tech at a gas purification company for 4 years. Our products were made to clean room standards for microchip fab intalls.
      Not only is this over engineered, but it's sloppy.
      The resting holes aren't counter sunk, the center lines should be measured rather than spray painted, the entire assembly sticks out from the wall twice as far as necessary, all while there are better off the shelf options.
      But you're the kinda guy who thinks, "why buy a solution when I can put my community college accounting degree to use and pretend to be someone who works for a living" yeah?

      @JimTArmesgas purification for 4 years, then you should know better than most: when auditing season comes around they love to see standardized practices that produce repeatable results. Items like this screw driver shelf is a good example of that. Unnecessary on the outside but practical within the company. If it can help maintain 5S policy, the auditor will be happy. And it’s not sloppy if the other tool mounting shelves share the same system. Not that it matters, but since we’re highlighting our credentials I was an Engineer at a medical company for 7 years, then 2 years engineering in construction, then 2 years in defense where the pentagon would audit us bi-monthly. Now I work in casted pumps used in oil/gas and also casted agricultural equipment. I would’ve loved to work directly in gas so I could be rich but I wasn’t smart enough to

    To pull straight put instead of having to lift up to pull out. Paint was to make sure the slots were wide enough that the screw drivers could slide out easily. Means you have more usable wall space for hanging other tools, and saves time everytime you grab a tool, and makes removing and replacing tools easier

    Nice hanger, at least. The strip on the wall that has the angle where the screwdriver rack was hung on..you can do whole rooms with those hanging strips; theyre sturdy, and because the item you're hanging is not nailed to the wall, you can switch all your cabinets and racks around with little effort. I saw a whole pantry made with this same system, and it was awesome, the homeowner had unlimited ways of rearranging the entire pantry, simply and easily. Show more of that!!

    I use a magnet on the pegboard behind the workbench. And the drawer in a toolchest for the good ones.

    the vid would have been funnier if at the end when he puts the tools back the rack he made. They still had the paint on them from laying them down to mark where too cut it hahaha

    People hang screwdrivers? I mean I guess this concept is transferable to tools that actually make sense to hang but like … toolboxes should have a drawer very capable of holding these lol

    Warum hat er nicht gleich noch am Bohrer die Seite mit den Schneiden markiert, damit er ihn nicht falsch herum benutzt? Das Video lässt viele Fragen offen...

    I love the floating shelf with the cleat in the back but you make such a great shelf and then don't sand or finish it? I dunno. It's kind of fancy engineering to just leave so raw. But I love your skills.

    Make the board half the width and just do the holes, you can put the screwdrivers in from the top

  • @Kluberus
    @Kluberus 11 days ago

    Why not screw the board directly into the French cleat? What’s the second piece of wood for?

    If they all set flush on the top, why not just drill holes in the top and drop them in that way? I don’t understand the slats
