Bought a blue dial GP Laureato unworn at a discount just two weeks ago. I think this is a positive development as the CEO appears to be a real watch guy.
GP is such a slept on brand. How in the world do people justify paying exorbitant prices for a RO, Nautilus, or even a Tiffany OP, but not $10k for a Laureato. GP offers a great value proposition in the luxury segment.
They will both prosper. UN is an amazing manufacturer with more patents then anyone else, GP will rise steadily and become faster to success as the AP’s are unattainable, and those skeletons are really nice bang for the buck.
GERRARD PERREGAUX IS SO POSITIVLEY DEVELOPING,LAUREATO GOING STRAIGHT UP AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE CASQUETTE FROM GP ABSOLUTLEY HOTPIECE AND GREAT VALUE RISE
I see GP as rising in value, and UN staying where they are. GP should bring the Richeville back in limited quantities and see if they sell, tonneau cases are slowly becoming popular again.
I think both brands have the requisite quality to be successful. The problem with UN seems to be that it was the most popular brand ( or one of ) the most popular brands in Russia. Sanctions on Russia seem to have hit the brand hard. In the UK both UN and GP are sold heavily discounted in the main Designer Village which is sending out the wrong message to collectors. Faced with a choice between GP or UN, or rising independent brands like Moser or Czapek, most people it would seem would go for the latter. People want something they cannot have, not something that they can.
Your logic is flawed. Sanctions on some oligarchs in Russia did not diminish popularity of Rolex AP, Patek among those who can afford them. UN has flooded their line with way too many similarly looking models after the initial success. The same went with Panerai. Corporate greed is what I blame it for.
I bought a GP laureato arabic dial for about 12000$ 8 months ago. I sold it for 34000$ last month. That’s more than 280% price increase. Prices did increase a lot in the last months. In some cases they sky rocketed. Having said that, prices do appear to be slowing down at the moment but that’s very natural. And like AP and PP, they have been out of stock in ADs in the middle east for a while now. And i can’t even put my name in a waiting list.
Like GP watches, particularly the Laureato. A watch with a lot of heritage, here's hoping a change in ownership & management will allow them to innovate and build watches people desire to have.
Tony Tito Got a Phone Call a couple months ago " Blue Horseshoe Loves Gerrard Perrigaux Got It" Tito Replied " Got It." Looks Like GP is in Play. Insider Watch Trading. Of course new owners will spend $$$$ Marketing and Cut Production. I called this a Month to 6 weeks Ago. Just didn't know who and when.
I've personally got a GP Laureato Chronograph and been to the 1846 Ulysse Nardin exhibition here in Singapore. Wanted to share that UN's business viability is more than direct consumer watch sales. They are heavily involved in manufacturing and supplying silicon components across the Swiss watchmaking industry! I really hope they integrate the production technologies (the way Swatch did with Omega across the group) and start supplying GP with more of their awesome in-house movements!
Hey John! Really enjoying your videos with the upgraded backdrop and the video quality lately! Viewer from the first hours here but only recently decided on leaving comments 😃
Like them, but I see a lot of hyping on other flipper/dealer You tube channels. It’s not motivated or driven by collectors but by sellers who need merch to sell as the AP ect are more and more scare and expensive. It’s like buying (nice) estate on b locations because a location all dried up. When markets crash or correct these second choices assets are the ones which take the hardest hit.
I’m really drawn to & have a lot respect for GP. However, as I’m not aware of any precedent, whereby a MBO launched a struggling (even quality) brand into the stratosphere, I’m sadly not convinced that the new GP regime will make it work. When a large conglomerate (who owns Gucci) decides to divest out of a brand, it suggests to me, that they saw no light at the end of the tunnel for GP However I hope the MBO works out well for new owners, because I sincerely believe GP deserves to do better.
I mean management wouldn’t have acquired them if they didn’t have a plan in mind, both brands have distinctive assets that were never leveraged, they will now grow into what they could have always been, reputable and well positioned/targeted tier 2 brands
My GP Laureato 42mm Blue Chrono has been really going up in value on Chrono24 recently, can't say how accurate their trending is but I'm hoping it's right??
Such cool brands. Not scared to try sthg new(UN) and an alternative to AP (GP). UN wil forever be poular with ruskis for some reason and GP has a soft spot in most collectors hearts.
I am betting that now these 2 brands are out from under their Corporate Structure...They will flourish as Independent Brands...They were being held back...Hopefully they will move forward ...quickly...!!!
What a diffence a year make, you can buy a pre owned green dial lauerato for about 9.5k usd in singapore. Meanwhile the AD was offering me one for full retail....if you like the lauerato. Now is the time to get one pre owned
Wow Anthony (TPG) really have influenced GP, prices had been going up ever since he started hyping the brand and everyone is now talking about GP again lol
In the NFL, a team needs an identity to determine success and become a champion. I have no clue what Girard Perregaux's identity really is. GP maybe best known for its Laureato model, but it seems to be a knockoff of the AP Royal Oak at a fraction of the cost. Hopefully management has a plan for new models and can execute it like a micro-brand. I do wish them success now that they are on their own.
There’s always hope, all you need is one product to change the tides. Hopefully they’re going to bank it all on unique propositions and not just exist.
there are in-house calibers and there is history. the problem was the CEOs and their bad ideas and plans. I think those brands will migrate to other watch groups and other CEOs will take the lead... They should imitate Tudor and Breitling and share calibers ....
Own both brands watches, love the UN a little bit more than GP, UN freaks, please keep moving and prosper. but still I will never pay full retail for both brand, you know, but please keep on making amazing watches, and keep up with the great content, supoort from ASIA.
I do believe that if the management buys the brand it overall is a good sign. However the decision to put both brands in one place was marketing wise a very bad decission as it ear on the “history story” and that was done by that management also. So that put a few clouds over my idea that they will conclude. Also I can see one brand just eating the other e.g. UN will go up in GP which for me is the core brand and mainly for the Laureato range which here in Germany seems to attract more and more ppl as they are not willed to pay ridicolous grey market prices for AP or PP 70ties watches, bearing in mind that Laureato came out before PP. So we will see what happens but I am quite sure GP will survive and current watch prices on GP shows they did go up meaning second market prices for new watches near to list prices at the moment with low availability in the second or grey market.
I have two GP’s, a Laureato Absolute Chrono and a Vintage 1945 QP Equation of time….these can rival any of the so called Trimity in terms of horology and quality but they are bargains! Get them when you can!
UN is one of my favorite brands and GP one of my least favorite. UN makes such unique watches, very authentic, charismatic and cool. GP meanwhile makes boring watches mostly, the laureato is arguably the least original watch in history, no one should ever buy one.

Because its a copy and of lower quality
I think the retail value plays part
I wanted to add a Laureato Chrono in my collection. I'm waiting a black & blue dial now to arrive. My first GP !! I'm excited!!
They will both prosper. UN is an amazing manufacturer with more patents then anyone else, GP will rise steadily and become faster to success as the AP’s are unattainable, and those skeletons are really nice bang for the buck.

I cannot believe these two fantastic brands will go down. The GP Laureato is as nice as a Nautilaus or a Royal Oak. I would go for a Laureato for sure

I think GP will continue to grow as long as AP and Patek are unobtainable.

180%
I love both of these brands and I am happy to see them independently owned again. Hopefully, they will innovate and push the market going forward.

UN is not for me but GP… have two of them in my Collection… Laureato Crono Panda and the infinity…

Nice. I’m in Singapore 🇸🇬 too💪🏼
Hey John! Really enjoying your videos with the upgraded backdrop and the video quality lately! Viewer from the first hours here but only recently decided on leaving comments 😃
Let's see where they go. More interested in the horological aspect than I am about if they increase in value.
True! Hope UN comes out with some neat watches!
What do you think about Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo series?

Chrono24... Lol.
OK try sell it and see.
@@BobbyDazzler888 lol I know what you're saying but it's the only somewhat objective tracking on sales that I know of??
Chrono24 isn't a good indicator of value. Watchcharts is
@@HRM.H thanks I'll check that out!!
Chrono24 is just overpriced BS. I stopped using the app as soon as I was seeing many Speedmaster Reduces going for $4,000.

GP has basically become a microbrand. Maybe we'll seem some kickstarter campaigns coming up.
Is those are the only two choices to pick from, I’m going with Fall Apart, because there’s no way they’re shy rocketing.
I like the old maxi marine diver in gold what do you think about it. You can buy these under 15k and you habe a lot of gold in these watches.
I like the original maxi marine diver. Very cool style!
Gold is not in trend these days. It doesn't even go up in price with thus crazy inflation. Plus kitsch like look how rich I am. Nah

I love both these brands they are well made great movement and have a rich history.
There’s always hope, all you need is one product to change the tides. Hopefully they’re going to bank it all on unique propositions and not just exist.
I guess they perform the management buyout because they lack support of the holding company and want to improve the overall situation
Girard Perregaux three points The Watch
Whether you like it or not the timepiece gentlemen has moved the perception and price on GP. You analysis is nonsense.
there are in-house calibers and there is history. the problem was the CEOs and their bad ideas and plans.
I think those brands will migrate to other watch groups and other CEOs will take the lead...

UN and GP are not for every Thomas Richard and Harold. They are for the discerning horological aficionado.
Own both brands watches, love the UN a little bit more than GP, UN freaks, please keep moving and prosper. but still I will never pay full retail for both brand, you know, but please keep on making amazing watches, and keep up with the great content, supoort from ASIA.
You’re pushing GP as well? Are you part fo those timepiece gentlemen as well? Don’t tell me you guys are going to start selling spider monkeys 🤣🤣
Everyone seems to like GP but what has stopped it from blowing up already? 🤔
They sell at much less of a discount than they used to.
Because the herd tends to follow Rolex without question

UN is my fav and I hope it is going to die. UN sonata is really really what I like.
Just hope UN makes the freak freaky again
Such a cool watch. I tried one on I just wish their most adorable freaks weren’t still like 20 grand
Too much speculation. Watch brands should prove themselves on their own. More talk means less convincing the case is for them.
slimey dunt
I have two GP’s, a Laureato Absolute Chrono and a Vintage 1945 QP Equation of time….these can rival any of the so called Trimity in terms of horology and quality but they are bargains! Get them when you can!
GP going to implode.
To much rambling just get on with it.
