For the mawkzy flick he has a tutorial on his channel (its in french tho but since im french im here to save the day :) ) He actually explains you have to keep the ball slightly farther on your car so like a forward-lean musty flick. Also being close to supersonic if not supersonic makes it easier to get.
@@WaytonPilkin He also explain a trick, you have to airoll left instantly after dodging and it gives an extra power, I don't understand exactly how it works but it does, try it for yourself ! ;)
Wayton chose an average mawkzy flick for the vid too, 108kph exit velocity is tame. The clip you used where he scored on jack was 117kph as it crossed the goal line
As an SSL player (who now doesn't play much), I can help elaborate on these techniques. Mawkzy Flick: While Wayton has explained how to execute the flick and what it looks like, it doesn't drive the point home. It's missing a key component. _How_ exactly does Mawkzy's flicks have more power? He uses the 180 flick as an example, but doesn't uncover the cause. The cause is actually known already been shared, but by Halfway_Dead (Rocket Science). All flicks have a higher success rate the more times the game registers a touch on the ball. Given that the game calculates physics at 120hz (120 times a second), the game needs to recognize two or more touches for faster flicks than one touche. It was found the more touches within a flick, the more power. Typically, most players will only get one or two touches on their flicks. However, Mawkzy's more than likely utilize 2 or 3 touches per flick. The 180 flick is more likely to generate power because the car is weighted towards the back (the "pivot point" is towards the back) and thus has more surface area for the ball to travel during the flick. Mawkzy is taking advantage of this for his flicks. Another detail for the Mawkzy flick is that Wayton brings up the "backflip", but a detail is missing. It's that the the length of the car's front end is longer than the back which has more momentum _and_ that momentum is _perpendicular_ to the ball. Rather than spinning towards the ball from behind its momentum, it's hitting the ball from the side, redirecting the momentum upwards rather than matching the ball's speed and barely adding a difference. Because it's coming in from a perpendicular direction, that's extra velocity that can be added to the ball. It's easier to do while going fast, as Mawkzy's tutorial recommends, but not entirely necessary. You just won't be hitting a flick that goes 115kph, lmao. It will, however, be very fast for the speed you and the ball are initially going in. I explained this in the "Evoh Flick" section, but it's easier if you _begin_ to let the the ball roll forward before you jump (but don't let it actually roll forward noticeably). I would explain why, but it's basically the same reason explained in the "Evoh Flick" section. Land-Dashing: The explanation is _somewhat_ correct, but it's not entirely accurate. The terms "empty jump" imply that you can change the jump because an "empty jump" is simply a double jump. It's not an empty jump. It's jumping the instant all 4 physics wheels touch the floor. It's not possible to do anything _but_ an "empty" jump, because you can't dodge in a direction while on the ground. When you time the land-dash, all 4 wheels are on the ground so it's just jumping off the floor. This also means you can land-dash without having a double jump/flip reset. I clarify this because much of the shown examples (such as at 3:13) shows a different mechanic called the "Hel-Jump" (popularized by HelvetiaGaming) where one does use an empty jump (a double jump), but is timed _before_ all 4 wheels hit the ground. This is a key difference as one can be done at any time, and the other requires a double jump ("empty jump") available. Now that the correction is out of the way, let's get onto the technique. The key is jumping as you still have falling momentum but when all 4 wheels touch the ground. Suspension in Rocket League is unlike other car games, because it is very strong at absorbing the shock of landing while not pushing momentum back up (bouncing from suspension). You only have a few physics frames to even execute the maneuver correctly. And the faster your downwards velocity, the less physics frames due to how quick suspension halts your car and how quickly it reaches the "suspension limit". The technique is thus, simply timing. However, here are some tips: 1. The front end of your car needs to be tilted by 1° or more downwards. I recommend by about 10°-20° and no more or less. This allows the front wheels and the back wheels to touch the ground roughly at the same time, but also the front end touching first will be changing directions on the jump to lift off the ground for a wavedash. 2. If timed too early, you will either do an "empty" jump (the pop sound of a double jump), or you won't have a jump at all (no double jump available). 3. If timed too late, your single jump will lift your entire car off the ground way too much. 4. For the more perfect "instant" wavedash you see, you have to _predict_ that you timed the jump near perfectly and then instantly wavedash forward. The catch here is if you failed to time correctly, you flail with a front-flip that hits the nose on the ground, rather than wavedashing. Fun fact about the "land-dash". It was discovered on Reddit by some Bronze or Silver player and it was initially dubbed the "Sonic Flip". Land-dash is the superior term though. Evoh-Flick (not really): Sorry, but this is not the Evoh Flick. This is a preflip-flick or "pre-flick" and has been used on purpose way before Evoh. The common example is Evample using it and being dubbed the "Wizard Flick", but even that is also wrong. The origins of doing a preflip flick on purpose was Fairy Peak. It _started_ to catch on being known as the "Fairy Flick" several years ago, but sorta died as the consistency wasn't as strong. Here's the advice. There are two key factors in the execution of this. The first is that the ball must be resting on your car during the dribble. This means no sparks. If it's sparking it is much less likely to work. The reason why is because it results in a bad timed jump which the ball pushes the car down when you jump and simultaneously "sticks" the ball to the car. If the ball is instead resting on the car (obviously while both are moving) with no sparks, the jump will not be pushed down by the ball too much and the ball won't be as close to the car. This has the additional detail that the ball will "float" longer. This is due to the car getting an additional touch when jumping (but matching ball momentum during the jump). The second key factor is the momentum during the dribble. If you execute it like a typical flick for the above average player, this would require you to have the ball on the front end, boost and jump, then flick. By boosting and jumping, you get closer to the ball. This _fails_ for the preflip flick because you don't have enough distance for the pre-flip. Instead, you do the opposite. You have the ball resting on the front (but not very far front), but then start to _barely_ let the ball start to get away from you. Start getting away, not actually let it get away. When it begins to move away, you jump. This causes the ball to launch slightly forward, especially if you get those two instant touches as mentioned in the previous point about letting the ball rest. When the ball launches forward with two instant touches, this gives the necessary distance when using the flip to catch up to the ball, and if the flip is properly timed will hit underneath the ball to pre-flip flick it. Your boost timing should be _just_ before you jump so that you can prevent the ball from actually being lost when you do jump. It's very specific, but that's what I found gives me the most consistency for the pre-flip flick. Evoh's exact method for the flick is different than what I have gotten used to for the last like 3 or 4 years, but looks more effective at getting power. Which I can easily deduce comes from the fact the bumper of the car is swinging more from the side due to the diagonal flip rather than a normal preflip flick with a frontflip. For those who want to learn this method, I can tell you it looks almost identical except upon jumping, the players lean forward and air roll to the side simultaneously. This makes the bumper face away from the ball at a diagonal angle so a diagonal dodge gives you forward speed (relative to the direction you initially were going in), while simultaneously changing the rotation of the dodge to come from the side. This also may make it easier to execute a preflip flick consistently considering you don't have to precisely time the front bumper doing a full 360 on the longest axis (pitch). The roll axis has faster rotations per minute and thus is easier to time to hit with the front bumper. It also seems to wait less to hit the ball (again, faster rotations per minute), making its execution more lethal against higher tier players.
Mawkzy actually did a tutorial on his flick almost a year ago. Basically you did it the right way but Mawkzy said some tips in order to make it perfectly: - your car needs to go fast - the ball must be at the very front of your car - the timing is very precise
Gotta love the effort Wayton put on his vids. So many rl youtubers just do the most basic stuff like playing ranked or pranking pro players over and over again. Wayton's content is in a whole different level.
For Mawkzy’s flicks, note that he starts to one side of the ball, rather than directly under it. The goal is to hit the ball with the nose of the car, not the hood.
If you pay attention to Mawksy, he let's the ball slip off the side of his car to the right before he jumps. This allows him to hit the ball further down the chassis of his car which gives more power. The closer the ball is to the center of your car when you hit it with your final touch, the less power you will have.
It's not a new mechanic, but Darks Pogo's in 1v1 deserve a shout-out. It reminds me of the "Evoh Flick" in terms of how it's been done many times before, but never this consistently and competitively viable.
I was surprised by the absence of the pogo as well considering it has just been blowing up all over showmatches. Wayton probably started making the video before Dark started to pop off.
@@averywlittle yeah, Johnny was talking during one of the matches about how you can use the pogo and ground punches with nearly identical setups. I think there’s way more to be seen from that for sure.
Here’s why rocket league is one of the greats games of all time. Rocket league has had the least gameplay updates out of any game I know, yet the gameplay has evolved more than any game I know.
I've been working on a off the wall pass that utilizes the same thing as the mawkzy flip, It's essentially just a sideways musty. But when the opportunity presents itself its a way faster way of getting a pass center, and it really catches people off guard who might be expecting the cross, since it just explodes off the wall instead of you having to jump out with the ball, rotate, and place it with a forward flip. Sadly I'm just a shitty gc2 with piss poor mechanics so I'm not super consistent with it, but when the setup does happen and somebody is ready for it it feels amazing to just sling the ball onto the hood of your teammate.
Thanks for the showmatches my mans. Also, if the landing wavedash happens in a showmatch, could you call it the waveland? It's a term that's already used in other games and I think it fits pretty well :)
If I could add onto the mawkzy flick; The flip cancel near the end of the flick is similar to a diagonal half flip flip cancel. The reason to do this instead of just a straight backflip flip cancel is so that the car will automatically air roll, which makes the ball roll not just up and down on the car, but diagonally as well. This in my experience gives the ball more speed if it catches just right, on top of recovering faster. You can see a good example at 6:56
I think it could be a 45 degree jzr Flick, you kinda just set up for a 45 but with the Ball more on the back corner so that when you flick you can get 2 touches With a jzr Flick/ diagonal backflip but canceled to a kinda speedflip , it often goes 109
@@s.sasquatch1789 I'm not sure about that one chief, ive gotten pretty good at it where i got 4 120s in a row top bins, the whole thing is you put in the far corners of your car and its sticks to your car to when you flip its insanely powerful.
It feels good to know that I've been working on 2/3 of the "new" mechanics almost for almost 3 months now. Gives me a good idea I'm heading in the right direction. Just need to work on my wizard flicks now.
I thought mechanic 1 had always been known as a wizard flick. And i thought that was fairly common knowledge for a long time. Hasn't Evample been going for it for a while? After seeing him doing it, i started practicing it 🤔 Great video!
There's a term from Super Smash Bros. Melee that really fits the landing wavedash - the waveland. It would be absolutely FIRE if it caught on here, so anyone that sees this and agrees, pls comment about it as well!
A have a mechanic idea, but I'm not skilled enough to put it on practice. I think you could flip reset with other car in the air. Rather with both car wheels together or one car resetting on the top of the other. Idk, that's what I thought, but maybe it isn't possible.
The Landing Wavedash will definitely become a norm for pros. It's too beneficial for that little extra speed and recovery to not adopt it. I thank you for your explanation on Mawksy's Flick. I've been trying to understand the mechanics behind it. Mawksy posted on his YT a tutorial of how he does it, but he's French so there's that language barrier
@@leaf2271 I think it should just stay as "wavedash". it still confines within the mechanics of all other wavedashes we know, just a different way of going about it. We don't call the different wavedashes the "Sideflip Wavedash", "Frontflip Wavedash", "Backflip Wavedash. Even the Curve Wavedash off the curve of the wall is still a Wavedash. Why call this one different?
I once saw Rocket Science say that a very important factor in how strong flicks are is how much the ball rolls on the hood of your car, because with each "Touch"** more velocity is added to the ball, when the Mawkzy flicks, he is practically glued to the ball, maximizing the number of touches during the flick. **(I say touch because the rocket's physical engine runs at 120fps, so a touch is generated every 8ms when you are in contact with the ball). Sorry my bad English, regards from Brazil
I feel like one mechanic that's missing here, and that is actually important for RLCS and the 3s format is the "wavedash flip reset" Firstkiller pulled off a while ago. Basically he preflipped into the flip reset right when his wheels started to touch the ball and flipped right again to create a lot of distance between himself and the ball.
I wouldnt consider that new. People have been doing it for a long time now, although I havent really seen it used for anything practical. I scored a goal like that one time, but a regular flip reset would have just been better.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that 1st flick, I've been doing these for a long time, but i didn't know it was worth it's own mechanic category so that's cool
I’m pretty sure the Wizard flick and Evoh flick are different flicks. Like they look similar, but the difference is the setup. You air roll until you’re mostly upside down and directly beneath the ball when you Evoh flick. Wizard flicks are kinda just flips where youre not originally in a position where you can flick it as soon as you flip. You’re not as underneath the ball, in other words. In a Wizard flick you use the flip to get the front/underside of your car underneath the ball to pop it, whereas Evoh flicks aren’t as “delayed” because you get under the ball using boost and air roll. Evoh’s flick has a more “standard” flick timing, cus he’s just using the underside of the car to flick it from a position where he could do other flicks instead.
Mawkzy flick is similar to a tennis serve - maximizing the whip action. In this case racquet head speed would be analogous to the point of the car on contact, and maybe the server most similar to Mawkzy would be Nick Kyrgios - his setup time is remarkably quick compared to other servers. Low toss and quick windup. Go watch a slow motion video and compare!
I did my own variant of the so called "evoh" flick for the last 2.5 years, only difference is I turn my car 30deg to the left and then jump under the wall from a bit of an angle so it's more controllable and you can choose where you want it to go exactly... the power on the other hand is semi-random still
Notice how Mawkzy positions his car towards the side where the ball is. Usually, a player angle their car towards the left when the ball is on the right, and viceversa. Mawkzy angles the car towards the right when the ball is on the right.
When Wayton talked about the Mawkzy flick and he mentions that it’s like pinches. I’d 1000% agree with this. I’m pretty decent at pinches (specifically Ground Pinches) I always get some type of pinch to go insanely fast, or super slow. So the Mawkzy flick is basically a pinch but in a flick k motion.
The first one is just a Turbo flick. People have been doing it for years. I remember seeing Fairy Peak do that in his 1v1 showmatches all the time in like 2018. I've also never heard it called a "Wizard Flick" either.
Love it! I'm not sure if you ever thought about it, but I'd love to see a video about - "mechanics I predicted, vs what we see now" - type of video, if you understand what I mean. Keep up the great vids!
My first impression with the clips you showed of mawkzy's flicks is that he looked like the nexto AI where the ball was almost consistently in a position where he could flick it, meaning that at any moment he could start the flick. Your setup was by comparison inconsistent, the ball is constantly moving relative to your car.
I’ve been saying this since some time ago, mastering the flicks is op, because even pros’ flicks just look slow and often aren’t worth it. Mawkzy is a genius
I noticed that when i change my left roll binds from circle to L2, its easy to tornado while jumping. Mawk left roll is R1 and because R1 its a different finger from X its ez to jump and tornado simutanously. If its square or circle there is a delay if you jump with X but R1 L1 L2 R2 no. Basically his fast set up flick come from the fact he starts tornado at the same time he jumps and face down.
Another big detail with Mawkzy's flicks: He positions the ball slightly to the side he's turning, counterintuitively. He always turns right and flicks left, so he positions the ball slightly to the right side of his car so that when he turns, the ball is closer to his nose. That's the trick to getting the most amount of snap and power to the flicks
Mawkzy's flick seems like just a perfected Tornado flick that Kevpert released a vid on five years ago. You can get the same or similar results as Mawkzy by tornado spinning (hold left analog stick to one side and directional air roll in the opposite direction) as you do your first jump and then backflip. Kevpert didn't get it quite that zooming in his initial video, but he had just discovered it--it takes a bit of practice to get the timing and position of the ball on the car down.
Me and my crew just called them "delayed flicks" we never really pulled them off on purpose, but it was clear that they had strategic use for whoever could nail down the execution.
Something I like about the evo flick is how quickly you are on your wheels and back in control after you hit the ball. Since you already did your flip you have time to drive past the ball and demo.
The wave dash thing was a secret i had to learn on my own. I even had a coach who I saw do this. I asked him about it, and he wouldn’t say a thing. Wayton, you blew the whistle on the secret strat.
For the wavedash mechanic, I don't think it's necessary to use an empty jump, right? You still have to lean forwards, but if you jump early enough after all four wheels are on the ground, then only your front wheels come up since they are going through "rebound" and the rear wheels will stay on the ground since they are going through "compression".
The “Evoh flick” is what I did like a year ago and I have been perfecting it ever since! I posted me doing it and now I’m a pro at doing it. I hope it gets called the Lucky flick lmao
I had watched the mawkzy flick a few times in slowmo after Jack commented about it during their match. I noticed that there's a *slight* turn out adjustment right before he flicks the ball which could be the difference in where in the car is striking the ball for all that power.
Yo wayton u are one of the best rocket league content creators out there. I'm always waiting for new videos because they are so high quality and we can all see the effort you put into them. Keep up the good work! I especially like the scenes where it's like a cinematic camera view in (5:38) and 5:58
The landing wave dash is something that I’ve tried repeatedly, but having the actual info in front of me really drives home the point of how hard it is to do consistently before someone else dors
i think the 45 flick uses a lot more downwards stick movement rather than air roll, its kind of like a stall with the air roll in which its moved slightly to get it in the perfect position to use the downwards stick movement.
Been practicing these since Mawkzy posted a tutorial on his channel and the most consistent way for me to get the power is with air roll, some slightly delayed tornado spin pretty much, into a diagonal backwards flip, or just backflip while holding air roll left/right
the last one seems like you're setting up a tornado flick with the air roll, and then basically backflipping, that way the whole car is behind, IDK though.
What's crazy to me is that I spent a few hours in free play working on the Evoh flick back in January and have been using it consistently in games ever since. I even considered posting it somewhere but I figured it would be seen as a bad joke by a C1 trying to make a name for himself lmao
For mechanic flick: jump > spin the left stick (LS/L3) from left to down and tap air roll left at the start of the LS/L3 input > when you start inputting directly down press jump. That's my theory I haven't tried it yet bc I'm not bothered rn but give it a shot
Ever since I saw that johnnyboii clip with mawkzy I just kept practicing it, by far my favorite flick, u can be stationary and have a boomer in less than a second. Nuts.
I think he is diagonal backwards flipping. In the video you explain it as a back flip/musty but I think it’s more of a reverse speed flip. Aka a diagonal flip. Idk if he does flip cancel mid flip but it sure as hell kind of looks like it
I've been using the landing wavedash for a while, I'm nowhere near consistent at it but i can still do it every so often. I do them without the empty jump so just finding the perfect timing on when you jump upon landing to bring your car up is hard. I personally have been thinking of a name for it and i think "Land-dash" is easier to say while conveying the mechanic pretty well compared to "Landing wavedash" .
After seeing this last round of RLCS regionals (especially NA), I can say with upmost confidence that any mechanic that requires space or time will never become meta. Granted, there will always be situations where such mechanics can be deployed (such as double demo 1v1s). But as a whole, the challenge game is way too strong, and even flip resets, which can be very quickly set up, are being shut down before they turn into anything. Seems flip resets now are more useful for getting the ball cleared with little/no boost than they are for actually scoring.
The Evoh Flick is prob the nastiest thing I’ve done multiple times, albeit unintentionally both times. It’s so satisfying, and in Diamond even the other team usually gives me a “nice shot” which feels nice lmao
For note, the "Evoh flick" while showed to consistency most recently by Evoh, was actually first used and implemented in a competitive setting by a 1v1 main named Rottweiler.
About the first one ground freestylers has been doing those for really long time in many different ways and variations. The mawkzy flicks are using similiar approach of making ur car as a "rocket launcher", but when I'm teaching ppl which I'm coaching, im showing them 2-touch 45deg flick, the difference in speed can be from 20-40kph the speed to launch the flick is the same, but the setup is different, basically you keep the ball on right or left side and youre driving to opposite side, but you have to drive towards the goal, then youre dynamically moving to the side where the ball is and at the same time youre doing 45 deg flick and because of that you can get a slight touch before the flip will launch the ball and your car becomes like a rocket launches cause its like bouncing of the car before the flick will hit the ball its hard to explain, but with this flick, you can easily flick like anybody from far away with avg of speed 100-110+ atleast every single attempt, theres no way to explain how to do it throu text, but its not that consistent like 45, but if u will master the setup as everything in this game you can win most of games with those flicks. It amazes me in how many ways u can do something in rl and still get different results, mawkzy is using different method for his flicks, but hes insane at them.
Kind of wack that it’s called the evoh flick when fairy peak and many others were experimenting with it back in like 2018-19. I remember a few show matches where fairy went for and pulled off quite a few of those flicks on Johnnyboi’s stream

Mawkzy Flick:
While Wayton has explained how to execute the flick and what it looks like, it doesn't drive the point home.
Land-Dashing:
The explanation is _somewhat_ correct, but it's not entirely accurate.
However, here are some tips:

Evoh-Flick (not really):
Sorry, but this is not the Evoh Flick.

Basically you did it the right way but Mawkzy said some tips in order to make it perfectly:
- your car needs to go fast
- the ball must be at the very front of your car
- the timing is very precise
Gotta love the effort Wayton put on his vids. So many rl youtubers just do the most basic stuff like playing ranked or pranking pro players over and over again. Wayton's content is in a whole different level.
What a great time to have the day off so I can watch more Wayton!
Monday.. Tuesday..Saturday! Wednesday..Thursday..Saturday!
For Mawkzy’s flicks, note that he starts to one side of the ball, rather than directly under it. The goal is to hit the ball with the nose of the car, not the hood.
I think that is the subtle detail Wayton was missing! Well spotted!
actually really good observation, would've missed that detail ngl
no, he also does it from the center as well
If you pay attention to Mawksy, he let's the ball slip off the side of his car to the right before he jumps.
Definitely a good call, surprised it wasn't included. Appjack has already been doing variations of this for faking low shots too.
I was surprised by the absence of the pogo as well considering it has just been blowing up all over showmatches. Wayton probably started making the video before Dark started to pop off.
Was going to suggest this too. Cool thing about the pogo is you can fake at the last second still so there is an element of surprise to it as well.
Oooh yeah that would’ve been interesting to bring up

No cap. This game is just aerialing to the moon.
That first flick i used to call it a fairy flicky, cuz i saw fairy peak do it a few times in RLCS maybe 4-5 years ago
I remember Fairy experimenting with these as well. Back when he played batmobile 1v1s he was using these flicks
Awesome video! Cool to see my casts used as a way to exaggerate how crazy these guys are!
Thanks for the showmatches my mans. Also, if the landing wavedash happens in a showmatch, could you call it the waveland? It's a term that's already used in other games and I think it fits pretty well :)
Im pretty sure the ``Evoh flick`` is called a wizard flick, if you watch Evample he often does it.
wanted to commetn the same thing :).
i think fairy peak also used to do it occasionally? in old johnny boi showmatches
If I could add onto the mawkzy flick;
The flip cancel near the end of the flick is similar to a diagonal half flip flip cancel. The reason to do this instead of just a straight backflip flip cancel is so that the car will automatically air roll, which makes the ball roll not just up and down on the car, but diagonally as well. This in my experience gives the ball more speed if it catches just right, on top of recovering faster. You can see a good example at 6:56
Diagonal half flip cancel is effective for both power and recovering.
I have been trying to learn the Mawkzy flick recently so it’s nice to see it being addressed on how to do it.
I think it could be a 45 degree jzr Flick, you kinda just set up for a 45 but with the Ball more on the back corner so that when you flick you can get 2 touches
With a jzr Flick/ diagonal backflip but canceled to a kinda speedflip , it often goes 109

Pretty sure the term wavedashing comes from melee already so that would make a lot of sense.
@@cyrnoz1803 Originally it comes from tekken, but yeah, melee popularized it.

Dude Rocket League looks so much fun
I once saw Rocket Science say that a very important factor in how strong flicks are is how much the ball rolls on the hood of your car, because with each "Touch"** more velocity is added to the ball, when the Mawkzy flicks, he is practically glued to the ball, maximizing the number of touches during the flick.
**(I say touch because the rocket's physical engine runs at 120fps, so a touch is generated every 8ms when you are in contact with the ball).
Sorry my bad English, regards from Brazil
@waytonpilkini ON 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌👈 Yet another winner?
isnt the evoh flick just a more calculated wizard flick?
I feel like one mechanic that's missing here, and that is actually important for RLCS and the 3s format is the "wavedash flip reset" Firstkiller pulled off a while ago. Basically he preflipped into the flip reset right when his wheels started to touch the ball and flipped right again to create a lot of distance between himself and the ball.
I wouldnt consider that new. People have been doing it for a long time now, although I havent really seen it used for anything practical. I scored a goal like that one time, but a regular flip reset would have just been better.
For the "evoh flick" which I've seen examples hit it more constantly and purposely he also called it the "wizard flick"
evample*
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that 1st flick, I've been doing these for a long time, but i didn't know it was worth it's own mechanic category so that's cool
For the “evoh flick”. Example has basically mastered it so well now and also i prefer calling it the “wizard flick”
e oh
The "evoh flick" was something fairy peak did relatively consistently also
Real ones know the Evoh Flick is a Turbo Flick.
Real ones know the Landing Wavedash is basically the Hel-Jump.
I accidentally did the evoh flick earlier this year and when I did it I thought "New micanic?" And started trying to do it again
the second mechanic you called a landing wave dash is actually called a hell jump and has been being used by dashers for a very very long time
Mawkzy flick is similar to a tennis serve - maximizing the whip action. In this case racquet head speed would be analogous to the point of the car on contact, and maybe the server most similar to Mawkzy would be Nick Kyrgios - his setup time is remarkably quick compared to other servers. Low toss and quick windup. Go watch a slow motion video and compare!
I did my own variant of the so called "evoh" flick for the last 2.5 years, only difference is I turn my car 30deg to the left and then jump under the wall from a bit of an angle so it's more controllable and you can choose where you want it to go exactly... the power on the other hand is semi-random still
I haven't played in a year... this is... amazing to see.
I always called that the skip dash when I was perfecting it a couple years ago. Neat to see aZapatos doing it. Cool video.
@waytonpilkini ON 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌👈 oh?
Mawkzy is a genius
evample mastered the wizard flick before evoh. evample can literally do it whenever he wants on command in air, from ceiling, on ground, you name it
I noticed that when i change my left roll binds from circle to L2, its easy to tornado while jumping.
Another big detail with Mawkzy's flicks:
He positions the ball slightly to the side he's turning, counterintuitively. He always turns right and flicks left, so he positions the ball slightly to the right side of his car so that when he turns, the ball is closer to his nose. That's the trick to getting the most amount of snap and power to the flicks
evample has been doing the "evoh flick" under the name "wizard flick" very consistently in high ranked lobbies if that counts as competitive enough
Evample does wizard flick whenever. It looks cool
Who are you and why do you do this?
You know its a good day when wayton posts. Great video keep up the great work. Im a huge fan
"turbo flick" "ret flick" "wizard flick" for a long time now I aint never heard "evoh flick"
Amazing that as old as the game is people are still finding new mechanics!
Outstanding work as always Wayton my friend.
These type of videos are what make me hop on rl.
Showing the JZR flick would’ve been awesome too
Fairy was doing the 'Evoh flick' consistently in his 1s prime in a samurai like 4 years ago
The 1s game at the moment is crazy for rl, new players pulling off the most coolest mechanics in pro level games (I.e. darkrl and azapatos)
Bro you need to take a look at the suffo flick. It was done by a RUclipsr suffocate. I don’t see being practical but it’s Absolutely amazing.
Love the video man! The first flick is so cool, i watch alot of Evample and he loves going for these with his unique playstyle.
Your making your channel essential viewing for rocket league players.
The “Evoh flick” is what I did like a year ago and I have been perfecting it ever since! I posted me doing it and now I’m a pro at doing it. I hope it gets called the Lucky flick lmao
The good "Mokzy flicks" all involve boosting the entire time you are doing the flick. Maybe that has something to do with it?
if you drive backwards up a wall with the ball you get a interesting setup for a airdribble, btw love your vids❤
with the last flick really looks like you're side/diagonal flipping in the failed attempts rather than getting a straight on hit/flick.
I had watched the mawkzy flick a few times in slowmo after Jack commented about it during their match. I noticed that there's a *slight* turn out adjustment right before he flicks the ball which could be the difference in where in the car is striking the ball for all that power.
@waytonpilkini ON 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌👈 dang, another one.

The landing wave dash is something that I’ve tried repeatedly, but having the actual info in front of me really drives home the point of how hard it is to do consistently before someone else dors
I think we should call it the land dash
In other games they call it the waveland and I think that sonds pretty cool.
Thanks for bringing this back,I liked the other 1
i think the 45 flick uses a lot more downwards stick movement rather than air roll, its kind of like a stall with the air roll in which its moved slightly to get it in the perfect position to use the downwards stick movement.
The last one is insane. It looks almost too powerful. I can’t wait for pros to start regularly flicking 100kph lasers like that
What's crazy to me is that I spent a few hours in free play working on the Evoh flick back in January and have been using it consistently in games ever since.
I've been using landing wavedashes ever since that Rocket Science guy released the video of it. Whenever I remember to use it it's super useful
The Evoh Flick is prob the nastiest thing I’ve done multiple times, albeit unintentionally both times. It’s so satisfying, and in Diamond even the other team usually gives me a “nice shot” which feels nice lmao
the 1st one is like. a musty flick minus the flashyness
Btw the landing wave dash after a speed flip is quite good for kickoffs you should try it
Petition to call it the waveland
Was sort of hoping to hear your thoughts on Dark(?) and his pogos lol. Still a great video regardless!

Great to start the day off with wayton
Kind of wack that it’s called the evoh flick when fairy peak and many others were experimenting with it back in like 2018-19. I remember a few show matches where fairy went for and pulled off quite a few of those flicks on Johnnyboi’s stream
