I see what you did with that intro, Gareth! Of course I doubt you were going for subtlety. 😁 But yeah, I don't do "Read What You Own" challenges. If I don't have idle book purchases to quell the howling maelstrom within, I'll be in trouble. 🤪 The Mishma book looks interesting. I haven't read anything by him yet, but I'd like to. Haven't read Blackboard Jungle, but I've seen the film several times. Should be pretty good. And isn't Brighton where rich folks used to go for summer holidays? It seems like I've seen it mentioned in that context in several old novels. 😊 Thanks for the video, and have a good one.
YAY! The Minotaur Takes A Cigarette Break! You're right, that did make me smile ☺Thanks for the really lovely shout-out mate. My reaction to the book is indeed very much connected to my own specific experience at a very specific moment in my life, but the book itself it not all specific to my own experience of difference. For me, it just speaks strongly to any feelings of being an outsider, of feeling isolated and ostracised, and to the joy of finding connections and love when you've come to believe that this might never be possible. It's beautifully written, really quite poetic. Really looking forward to seeing what you make of it. Loads of other great books in your haul too - I really need to try some Lansdale, he's an author I've had on my 'to read' list for a while. And I need to get back to Saga too, have only read the first few volumes but really liked it. Best of luck with your Read What You Own Challenge - as you know I'm going for a time goal rather than a book goal too, feels like a much more enjoyable and achievable thing! 👍
No buying until Christmas, good thinking Gareth! 😂 I have an Ed McBain collection, but nothing under the name Evan Hunter. I think The Two-Bear Mambo is part of his Hap and Leonard series, could be wrong. Anita and I took up the harmonica when we were dating but had to stop when we had trouble with the neighbors. 🤣 Some people just have no taste in good music. 🤣Good luck with the challenge.

Ha ha ha! Cheeky! 😂
I have that Mishima but I’ve been avoiding it 😆
@@sterlingreads547 yeah the one I read was odd but I still found it fascinating.
I've read a Joe R. Lansdale Tarzan novel, but never any of his crime books. I'll have to remedy that.
