  • US Fed's First Interest Rate Cut in 4 Years: What Global Markets Can Expect | Firstpost Tech & Trade
The US Federal Reserve has made its first interest rate cut since the Covid pandemic, reducing rates by 0.5 percentage points amid concerns over a potential labour market slowdown. The central bank's Federal Open Market Committee lowered its key borrowing rate to 4.75%-5%, in line with market expectations. This marks the first half-point cut from emergency measures since the 2008 financial crisis. The Federal Reserve noted that while job growth has slowed, economic activity remains strong, and inflation is moving towards its 2% target. This cut is expected to impact not only US markets but also the global economy. Emerging markets, in particular, are eager for relief, as high US interest rates have strained their currencies and increased trade costs. A rate cut could spark capital inflows and strengthen foreign investments worldwide. Let's explore how.

The belief that the Federal Reserve would stop raising interest rates was the driving force behind the entire economic chaos. What should we do now that we have a situation where interest rates are crashing? At this point, how would you suggest that I safely allocate $300k?

    • @Raymond-j4t
      @Raymond-j4t 6 дней назад

Although the market is currently volatile, aren't the current valuations a result of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy and low interest rates? Therefore, my recommendation is that you consult a financial advisor who can give you entry and exit points for the shares that you are interested in.

Agreed, my portfolio is well-matched for every market season yielding 85% from early last year to date. I and my CFP are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, tho this could take another year. IMO, financial advisors are the most sought-after professionals after doctors.

Rate cuts commenced in June 2024, taking 6-8 months to complete. A potential crash, if any, might occur by March 2025. The soft landing narrative is gaining traction, making this big recession everyone is calling for less likely. With $1 million from a business sale, I'm seeking profitable investment opportunities for the next 3 years.

The financial market is a reliable choice. Diversify your portfolio with I-bonds, stocks (ETFs, REITs, dividend-paying stocks), and bitcoin. Given your budget, I recommend hiring a fiduciary to ensure you receive professional insights for a fee.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

Given the persisting global economic crisis, it's essential for individuals to focus on diversifying their income streams independent of governmental reliance. This involves exploring options such as stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the adversity in the economy, now is an opportune moment to contemplate these investment avenues.

Gold is often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.

Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. It's important to have clear investment goals and educate yourself on the type of investment that interests you. I work with a financial consultant regulated by the SEC, and started small, but eventually accumulated over $800,000.

Overall, most traders or investors still think this year would favor stocks, and other equity-based investments over cash-like investments. Don't put all your eggs in one basket; instead, diversify into different asset classes to mitigate risk. If you lack extensive knowledge, consult a financial advisor.

I see the rising interest rate as a very big problem, as more investors will definitely pull out more money from the Stock market. This might have worked when I was still invest-ing with a couple thousand dollars, but it is more difficult now to decide whether to pull out more than $365k from my port-folio. I know some inves-tors still make that despite the strong bear market. In wish I could pull that feat

Trading on a demo account can definitely feel similar to the real market, but there are some differences. It's important to remember that trading involves risks and it's normal to face looses sometimes. One piece of advice is to start small and gradually increase your investments as you gain more experience and confidence. It might also be helpful to seek guidance from experienced traders or do some research on different trading strategies

The ticking time bomb is the federal debt. The interest payment of that debt has been rising by a cataclyspic 25% a year, from 518 billion in 2020, to 1025 billion in 2023.
It's an absolute disaster waiting to blow out.

Inflation is not simply flamed or tamed by rate cuts & hikes. The US economy is consolidated in every sector, allowing oligopolies to extract inflationary rent profits. Tariffs magnify this damage.

Some inflation is profiteering, but government is around 40% of the economy and the FED has not stopped printing money. They raise rates on one hand to con us they are trying cool things down, and on the other hand they are funding trillions in new spending demanded by politicians. These rate drops are for the November election, not because inflation is controlled. Next year inflation will be hot again.

One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market. I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories.

I think the next big thing will be A.I. For enduring growth akin to META, it's vital to avoid impulsive decisions driven by short-term fluctuations. Prioritize patience and a long-term perspective most importantly consider financial advisory for informed buying and selling decisions.

The issue is most people have the "I want to do it myself mentality" but not equipped enough for a crash, hence get burnt, no offense. In general, Financial Consultants are ideal reps for investing jobs, and at firsthand encounter, since Jan.2020, amidst covid outbreak, my portfolio has yielded massively in ROI, summing up to 7-figures as of today.

Yep, they are lying. Just like the jobs reports, every month they report better than forecast, then they revise it down quietly. A few weeks ago the official figures showed over 1 million less jobs in the USA than this time last year and yet the politicians keep celebrating job creation. Just imagine what the real job losses are.

@@saranalunga because we have been in a deficit every single year and continue to spend and print money which lowers the value of the US dollar. Plus half the world has stopped trading in the USD, which means that the US has lost even more value to its dollar. every time you notice the prices have gone up since 20 years ago that’s been inflation slowly rising. When you hear about people talking about how cheeseburgers were $.10? Inflation is why it’s not anymore.

Half of the world used to only be allowed to trade oil in US dollars. That is not the case as of now and BRICS is threatening the US in more ways than one because they are tired of the US sticking their nose where doesn’t belong constantly, and using the strength of the US dollar against them. The enemies of our enemies are teaming up against us out of frustration. Plus, we fund both sides of the wars. When you see pictures of war and people hitting each other, know that we’ve not only funded both wars, but probably supplied both sides with weapons. It’s pretty much the only game we have left, make money on war and making the citizen sick.

The US has four major pillars of economy that are first weapons / Defence industry ,second medicine / vaccine industry ,third one AI and software tech industry and last one petrodollar and transaction money or reserve currency. all these four major key players are binding or guided by high values of ethics of believenes so all people trust on US as a guardians but during past some years the leadership of us makes several mistakes and wrong decision making that impacts now in economics and federal reserve also. please don't believe in weapons and war with ego that kills human and humanity so revenge psychology and NATO actions are major factors of present conditions so please review on these two factors for good economy. and respect co-operation and co existance. some years back even China and Russia are also using dollars as a trading and reserve currency. due to the actions of NATO and US policy all we felt these conditions so if we think in deep way so all causes of present conditions are self decisions of US leadership.

We also don't invade other countries to steal oil and other natural resources. Meanwhile you all can worry about your growing debt and cost of living.
