Yeah, ikan kembung (mackerel) has a lot of bones. Tastes good though. I miss asam fish, haven't eaten it in ... over a year plus I think. The fish you found salty was ikan masin, which literally means salted fish, which is why it's really salty. It's good, but you definitely eat it together with rice and asam or curry. Bro Chu is learning to eat ulam (raw vegetables/herbs). Dip them in a bit of sambal belacan and mix with rice and some meat. My mom always has a little sambal belacan at the corner of her plate but she doesn't eat ulam much. She just mix a little with a spoonful of rice, gulai gravy and meat.

Belacan is fermented shrimp paste which use as one of substance when making asam pedas. 👍 thats why i believe u sneeze/cough too. Ahah. The after effect of belacan i guess.
