The future of big band jazz is in good hands if this group is any indication. They understand how to play as an ensemble and they have the ability to have each part heard. Great job folks. I look forward to hearing more from this group!
Wow, that really kicks good. It has a lot of great points. Lot's of swing. If I wasn't looking I would think I was listening to Count Basie. Excellent!
I was desperately looking for the Les Elgart rendition because its the only song missing from the album my father used to play every Sunday morning whe I was a kid and when I saw the posting on RUclips I said what the heck, I'll listen to this one... DANG! What an arrangement, the sax section is totally smoking, and the style is totally Count Basie-Les Elgart. I have included this piece wuth my Les Elgart collection, they are that good, period.
Good job, just remembering how the band I went to in 8 th grade won the Reno jazz fest with this song, and of course a few others included, but I love lullaby of the leaves man, such a good song, and great job
It sounds like a trumpet is playing the first part of the song open, yet they're all in buckets. Is that a microphone placement thing or was the audio overdubbed from the video?...or is someone using a different kind of mute that makes it sound open at the top?...or is the lead player's sound that bright that it cut through a bucket mute? Just curious.
@splitsecond92 Nice!...definitely sounds great for being live, well done! As far as the sound is concerned, it could be a number of things...including my junky computer speakers! :)
A whole lot of swing!!!! Very aggressive bone section! Excellent solo's. great blend! This is a great band!

This is a "lift" of the Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland recording... probably a Bobby Myers transcription, but the arrangement is Boland's
This is disgustingly good
Live recording for sure!
so laid back, it’s good
Swingin'!
what up with the dislikes, this is awesome!
Haters! We've all been there. Be safe out there.
