Wendy's vocal skills were already top notch even before her accident, and her runs and riffs can be heard in RV's b-sides that's literally her forte, since she's a RnB based singer with a lot of respect for RnB. also one of the producers of Psycho, Drew Scott said that even though Wendy had her mouth wired shut she was still practicing singing and trying to sing along to her parts when RV performed. And she was indeed sitting there and singing live. One of the staff filming, posted a bts video on insta while they were filming this video and Wendy was just sitting there and singing, you could hear her.
u guys are right, she can deliver songs really well even without subs. But for this album, i think it's more meaningful to know the context/ inspirations behind her songs...

Wendy's ability to convey emotions thru her singing... she did not have to learn during her hiatus. She is the Main vocal for a SM group. That means a lot. Wendy also trained as a rookie for less than 2 years. Much shorter than the usual 4-5 years. Yes, she kept on getting better and better but she was that good already. Side note, Giselle from Aespa trained at SM only for 10 months before joining the group. Unheard of.
Wendy asked Luvies to read lyrics as she prepared it for her fans. But I can't, when i read it, I feel like my heart breaking 😭
and Yes, Mdromeda channel band version is great. She was stable and 'Why can't you love' makes me smile again 🥰
I cannot say for sure as how post processing is prevalent even with live video, but when Wendy is good condition, she just sounds better than album with live feel. 💙
The producer of psycho scotty drew is good friends with wendy and said she worked incredibly hard to recover, she actually had her jaw wired shut to heal it but scotty said she would still practice singing :( She would write lyrics and collab with the songwriters.
The part where she sings " "Everything about you is shining
, If you tell me once more, Perhaps it will come true"
refers to when wendy used to write letters to us after she released from the hospital, she had to have her jaw wired closed so it could heal and was going through physical therapy so it was a really low time for her and she would write in her letters that she felt really unconfident about her voice and scared if she could be on stage again and people would reply back "everything about you is shining" "we are waiting for you please come back" so to see that she put it in the song ...big tears. Its crazy because I think her stability and control is even better now a days and you really have to be such a hardworking person to not give up and get even better after an accident like that. She's incredibly versatile and if her accident hadn't happened i think her first album would defiantly be RnB based since she's a huge fan of that style so I cant wait to see what she has in store for the future

Since you seem to enjoy this kind of musical approach Wendy's album has, I'd like to recommend another idol that has similar influences: Jung Eunji (from group Apink).
Her last mini album might be my favorite from last year (I began my journey through kpop last year initially from Blackpink). She usually tends towards the classic piano/acoustic guitar driven ballads, but also has some jazzy and r&b-ish traces (less than Wendy), and is also a powerful vocalist, that beautifully conveys emotions.

The themes she talks about I feel like are on the same universe of Wendy's: family, memories, weakness and the process of healing and other personal things.
She's also friends with IU and has acted in some successful dramas (Reply 1997 I think is the most known) and has some OST (Love Day for example) that are very well known in Korea and is actually doing well in the charts even being a song from 2012. If I'm not mistaken she also sang a OST for StartUp.
Even if you can't react to her, try giving her a listen in your personal time. I absolutely love her music.
