I had random people wanting to touch my baby bump and I was like can I touch your belly? Very hilarious at their reaction.

I’m so excited for you and your new baby journey!! I too read all the books. I needed to know everything!! I loved the “Bump” app b/c it told me each week the size of my baby compared to fruit or veg. A couple items I purchased during pregnancy (especially needed at the end) that you may or may not need: a pelvic support belt/band; tums, gaviscon or other acid reflux medications; and compression stockings (for water retention in legs). My girlfriend swears by a special pregnancy pillow to help you sleep comfortably at night. Best of luck! The second semester is awesome!!

I really appreciate the post birth reusable pad chat. But I would also like to say the first few weeks post baby are extraordinary and can be very overwhelming. After both my babies the bleeding was considerably more than anything I had ever experienced, and the thought of trying to deal with laundering that was hellish. I was in survival mode and the last thing I could think about was keeping on top of laundry, let alone the nitty gritty of post birth pads. All I’m saying is be kind to yourself if you need to do things to stay sane at such a short and exceptional time in your life. And you can get decent organic plastic free disposable maternity pads, so that’s something.

I used heavy overnight cloth pads for post partum just with my regular underwear. I did go through about 10 per day so I had to do laundry every single day, but I also cloth diapered from the moment my son was born and he used about 10-12 diapers every day so we had to run the washer every night. A lot of new moms say this is too difficult, but being at home 24/7 with a newborn who wasn’t letting me sleep anyway, I found I had nothing better to do with my time.

I am really excited to hear about your pregnancy! I am currently 25 weeks (due April 1) and had the same relationship with carbs as you (although pre-preg I was an aspiring paleo follower). As I had to say goodbye to my last fitting pair of pants a few weeks ago, I was able to find a few knee-length dresses for work and a pair of black flats at a thrift store! They are not maternity dresses, just a larger or flowy type. Paired with a existing blazers and stockings (bought new), I am happy to be able to feel comfortable and appropriate for my office job :) Once the baby arrives, my top low waste item to use is cloth nappies (or diapers as we call them in US)! I was even able to find a free stash on craigslist for a 15-20lbs baby, so now I am just on the look-out for 7-15lbs nappies to complete the collection. Cloth wipes, second-hand baby clothing, co-sleeping/bedsharing, breastfeeding are a few other things on my list for the eco-friendlier baby (of course it's a mutual decision with my husband). Thank you for making this video! It's lovely to hear that you are applying your beliefs to this new stage in your life! :)

I know this video is a few years old now, but just to let you know I've been asked by my midwife to re-use the urine pot. Seems to be standard (at least where I am). Might be more of a cost saving exercise though, and not waste reducing, but same outcome :)

My first trimester I craved cheeseburgers all the time. It was hilarious. My husband was sick of burgers by the end of it. He was such a good sport.
The boob design shirt, 24/7 bra and 24/7 dress (I use as a nightgown) are amazing.
Reusable breast pads were amazing. I got mine on Etsy from marleys monsters.
For post partum pads I got super absorbent reusable pads. Some have ones specific for it. I think hannahpads have them.

Would you consider making a video about contacting companies? I know you've talked in the past about how you will contact companies that are using a lot of plastic and ask for or suggest alternatives. Maybe a guide on how to that? Thank you for being such an inspiration!!!

I wanted all the carbs in my first trimester too and ended up gaining 18 lbs by 15 weeks. Lol. After the nausea left I was able to plateau it for a while! Now at 37 weeks I'm craving all the fruit... Mmmmm... I'm having a water birth as well. Best of luck!

I just wore a size bigger pants than I did pre pregnancy but I did find my regular heavy pads were not thick enough for the first week at least so really recommend getting a couple of postpartum pads. My Midwife was fine with me just peeing on the sticks each time to test my levels and placing it on a piece of loo roll for her to see rather than using a pot. Oh and my youngest kid is 2 and I'm still living in my nursing bras as I'm still feeding him and normal bras are so uncomfortable. Congratulations and good luck

Hello Kate, first of all congrats on your pregnancy! I am a new subscriber to your channel. I am slowly converting to zero waste lifestyle. One thing that I found difficult is my children's toys. It is very hard to get my kids on board in the plastic free lifestyle, not to mention my husband. Do you have any suggestions on how I can get my husband and children on board with me. I know that it will be harder for my children because they are into those blind bags that has been advertised in some RUclips videos.

Omg love this! It’s certainly not going to go how you think it will, so keeping an open mind is important. I know I saw a lot of birth plans but didn’t even think about it cause I knew if I had my heart set on it going a certain way and it wasn’t happening, I would end up in a negative mindset and I didn’t want that. Breastfeeding my first was so hard in the beginning! It was so painful and she wasn’t gaining like the doctor wanted but I didn’t give up then a little over 2 years later she weaned herself:). Now on to little number two, who is almost one and a half, breastfeeding is a breeze, although I’m not sure she’s going to stop bf as easy lol. I have always co-slept but it’s actually super scary to me. I still do because it is easier but it does scare me quite a bit. I can’t wait to have baby number 3 lol. Just don’t want to have double the cloth diapers and wipes😬
Sorry for the long post! But you got this💪🏼

I actually had the opposite. I lived with my parents and all of us ONLY wanted fresh. Fruit, veg and nuts. Meat and dairy, I will end you. Go figure I went back to being vegan, and the only thing my daughter ever wants is fruit and veg. She isn't much for junk.
