🇯🇲 i knew a fellow Jamaican who marry a black American. He took her to Jamaica, when she saw what was going on she asked her family in Florida to ship her stuff down. She wasn’t coming back to America.
The man was nearing retirement, she told him to go back and finish up in Florida, and she will wait in Jamaica. That woman was a school teacher. 😊

I was born in Jamaica, and still living in England London, and have already half purchased a home in Jamaica, after living here for 54 years . My mother have been back to Jamaica for over 40 years and living in the parish where she and I was born, which is Linstead. My youngest brother was born in England, and he is building a house in Clarendon, and he is more jamaican than you would believe, because he loves everything about Jamaica and ever since he first visited many years ago, and have fitted into many parts of the society of Jamaica, and can tell you about towns and parishes, as if he was born there . His wife was born in Clarendon, hence returning to that parish . And yes people are going back to jamaica regardless of what people say about how Jamaica functions . I leave Jamaica 🇯🇲1980 spend over 40 years in London, I make a life there but never a day pass when I don't think of home. I return when I could I take my daughter and few family, went back find my husband we worked hard buy a piece of land and build our home. We both retired packed up and return back to Jamaica. And I can say thank God because right now we are living out best life. My daughter now lives in the US and Canada so we visit when we can. There's no place like home, I know lots of people who said they will never go back home, more space for me, I wake up everyday and thank God for his blessings. All our ancestors were stolen from Africa and yet some of us keep running to and fro instead of staying still until Yah returns to take us back to our homeland.
I am glad to see people going to the place Yah planted them for a reason. It is in the land were he place us we will find his provision in these last days. Jamaica is a beauty country with Yah's richest blessing.

I traveled to the US every summer and at the end of July I became so home sick and want to leave. My mother is a US citizen and I asked her not to file for me because i cannot live there. I cannot manage the winter and I love gardening, I have my organic garden at the back of my house all throughout the year. When vegetables are at an all time high in the market, I am able to share organic vegetables with my neighbour. When I go to the US, there is nothing much to do. Somethings are a bit cheaper there than here and the money is better but that's it. I believe if we work hard we can achieve anything we want in Jamaica. Jamaica is far from being perfect and it has a lot of issues just like any other country but the life here is better. We do have better foods and better air quality because it is not an industrialized country. I love my country and i really enjoy the hotels here and most importantly Murry's Jerk chicken. Jamaica 🇯🇲 has many problems but i would not give it up for anything, boy life hard and very sweet at the same time in JA.

I dropped out of every group I was in so I could focus on my project to ensure things were in line. My last trip in March this yr was a blessing because I was able to secure the land. Thank you for sharing the video; it's heartening to see Jamaicans returning home. As someone from the Cayman Islands, it puzzles me why those who live here would not want to return to such a beautiful place. In my conversations with Jamaicans here, many claim they have nothing to return to, which I find hard to believe for various reasons. There's much I could say, but that would diverge from the topic to Jamaicans in the Cayman Islands. Nevertheless, I think one reason Jamaicans are returning home is financial stability. Many Jamaicans cite economic challenges as their reason for leaving. It's essential to acknowledge that there's no place like home. No matter how long one resides abroad, it's always important to have a place to return to. I believe that if all the talented Jamaicans living abroad were to return, Jamaica would flourish and it people would not have to leave. I would engage them to become involved in the governance of the country and strive for positive change, enabling more Jamaicans to enjoy the land of their birth. Jamaica 🏝❤

    • @LifewiddiJamFams
      @LifewiddiJamFams  7 месяцев назад +1

You are welcome and your comment is well appreciated. Jamaicans are entrepreneurial and are setting up business. The more they acknowledge that no-one is coming to solve their problems and it is up to them to solve them, the more they rise to the occasion. Scaling business and collaborating as cooperatives is hopefully something that will begin to emerge more...

Every country worldwide is cracking down on immigrants, blaming us for all their problems. So far, we are the only ones welcoming every Tomm Dick and Harry to our country, and it's sad. As an expatriate living in Europe who has worked with companies in Jamaica that bring in expatriates, the difference is stark. When Jamaican companies import workers, they are compensated with higher salaries than locals in the same positions, and they are provided homes in upper-class neighborhoods. Meanwhile, overseas, we often receive less than the average salary and are left to find our own housing. Despite this, people like me choose to work abroad because it makes more financial sense. If I had stayed in Jamaica, I wouldn't be able to afford to buy a house. I haven't abandoned my country; instead, I'm working overseas to build a better future back home, so I can retire comfortably.

Some great points; unable to comment on the circumstances surrounding migrants coming into Jamaica for work. Economic migration is an age old phenomenon and its unlikely to stop in the near future. Therefore, one people are aware of what they are doing, why and they are comfortable with the life they are living then wherever they choose to life is their decision. Jamaicans returning are doing so for a range of different reasons.

My siblings and I left Jamaica when I was 12 years old. The day of the goodbyes was heart-wrenching. Every year since then we have yearned to return however things happened. Schooling, college, and a family delayed our return. Additionally, the high crime rate and murders deterred us from laying the foundational plans to return. We all still have that dream but don't even know where to begin to obtain property or a house. I am not sure who to trust. Many property sellers are interested in making BIG financial gains on the returnees.

Please make more content like this, I love this video, and I’m sitting reading every comment and also based on the views it shows there is sooooooo much people out there in the diaspora that would love to move back to Jamaica , I think some people are just afraid not just because of crime but because sometimes when u tell other people u want to move back to Jamaica they only have negative things to say and say that England/America is better because of “opportunities/benefits or welfare system and gov assistance and free healthcare”
I don’t care anymore what people want to tell me England has to offer, in my opinion Jamaica also has a lot to offer that is better for our health such as the organic food and being able to raise your own chickens 🐓 and grow your own fruits and veggies and even use herbs as medicine and for healing plus the vitamin d from the sun, the sun keeping us warm instead catching the flu/cold every minute from the cold weather in England, being close to nature and not being stressed out and being able to live a slow paced life.

So they now have that economical base... the power of the dollar/pound that they sought . Now they still have that power so why not go back to your roots and travel as needed. Indulge in the paradise syndrome.. that is Jamaica. As long as the dollars work to maintain that life that they so desired.
I applaud them swapping out the cold for the azure seas and wonderful weather(most of the time)lol and the warm climate to live free. It was always about money! It still is.

yes a lot of Jamaicans are on their way back and that a good thing for JA..my advise to those who have returned is to VOTE and humbly get involve in the local CIVIL Societies and schools...establish or connect to Repat-network Societies if there is none...JA 1st

Everyone should return to their own vine n fig tree. Just be careful n don't go bragging about their material prosperity on their friends n family who are struggling to survive. Just love God n their neighbours.

The same level of common sense used in the countries returning from is expected in Jamaica... People aren't returning because they are wealthy; they are returning because they way a different experience for them and their family.

My grandparents moved back in the 70s and never looked back. So being raised in Canada is all I know but it never felt like home. I didn't get to visit Jamaica until I was an adult and stayed in St Ann for a destination wedding. I've been back twice more since then and the feeling that comes over me can't be described. It feels so familiar yet I've never been. I get very emotional in a good way. Leaving feels like heartbreak. I would love to relocate and work part-time while I start my own business. I know it will be more challenging but it actually excites me how much more potential I have if I relocate. The thought of being able to afford my first home excites me too. The weather, fresh food, and less chaotic energy are also motivating me to take the leap!

Welcome back returning Jamaicans! Please bring back the best that is good for Jamaica and leave the worst of foreign behind. Remember that once you live somewhere for years, you are really more programmed and oriented to serve the country you lived in than the country you came from. Cultural detox and a change of perspectives may be necessary.
Please do not encourage wasteful, polluting consumerism because of a stronger dollar and attachment to an island and nature unfriendly lifestyle. There is a day coming when we cannot afford to pay the price for that mistake. We are living in a time when the worst is already too much. Please don't look down on, but look up to a better future TOGETHER WITH other Jamaicans, especially those who have been 'holding the fort' and battling certain destructive forces on the island.
These are serious times and we are heading into whirled wuar3. So come back conscious, ready to survive, thrive and build. Jamaica is more than a pretty escape and refuge when times and fortunes change. It is also an important part of the last stand for humanity. So please, come back conscious and ready. And Jamaicans at home, seize the opportunity to transform and evolve. All hands on deck needed. Rough waters ahead.

Not only Jamaican are coming, foreigners visit and fall in love with the lifestyle and move there. The most negative people are born Jamaican, just because they have little change in their pocket they think they are all that and of chip. I cannot give up on my country, 48 years in the US, and I think it time to go home. ❤JA

We see your point! Although Jamaicans may be reluctant to return home, people of various groups are seeing the potential of Jamaica and coming here from different continent and walks of life. They are buying up many of the developments. Property values have grown tremendously over the last decade, as it has in other countries, and it will continue to grow as Jamaica continues to develop and attract more and more investors and people who see Jamaica as a place they can come and invest, set up businesses and grow companies. There are different aspect of the housing market here based on who they serve. Key thing is to own one as soon as possible so that you get in on the ground level or as close to it as possible. 💯✨

Am very happy to see when our Jamaicans return and bring back our children. 1) Jamaican is experiencing low birth rate and the youth population ratio is under threat. Bringing the children back will help the future of Jamaica and not someone elses country. 2) Culture and Customs can pass on better to them when they are here.
