I've noticed that with these types of works of expressionism that total freedom is abundant at the beginning but as the work progresses restraint from thought of balance and composition takes over. When this happens it's time to take a break and come back to it a day or two later and begin again fresh. The reasoning why some artists work on multiple paintings at the same time as Basquiat did.
I totally agree. I sometimes come backafter days, weeks or months. Its true that closer to the end the process slows down and you begin to clarify the composition, define your artistic expression. It has to slow down, it is time to make final decisions :)
ANNA HI IM WRITING FROM LOS ANGELES. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR PROCESS. IT GAVE ME HOPE, AND INSPIRATION TO CONTINUE PAINTING. I DONT KNOW HOW BUT MY FEARS ARE LESSENED….. I FEEL MORE FREE TO DO…. THANK YOU AGAIN, ❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️❤️🌼❤️❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️
This is beautiful. I'm so happy it popped into my list! Thank you for sharing this start to finish video. One question: Do you choose your color palette before you begin?
Lis Engel I usually dont paint to music, I like a complete quiet in the studio. I play music when I dont paint, I love music very much, it seems to ocupy my mind and I really get engage with music, so when I paint I prefer to be focused on painting. For this video I used the music from youtube.
Absolutely fantastic. love your style💕💕💕💕
The way you mush the paint around is very nice, keep up the good motion of squashing paint.
Gorgeous painting! Love it...thank you for sharing.
Deborah Underwood Im glad you like it, thank you so very much for such a nice comment :)
Glad to see lots of paint layers and thick paint rather than a tinted finished painting. Patrick Raffaelo artist

Nice work.....
I enjoyed watching you.......love your creativity
kathleen strode thank you :)
I liked your creative process a lot. Just wondered do you wait for some of the layers of paint to dry before continuing?
Yes I usually wait for some layers to dry
Brilliant!
Exciting! Do you paint with just water or use a medium, if so which one? Thank you.
Lisa Robbins I use any acrylic mediums, flow improvers etc. They keep the intensity of colour.
Beautiful
Freedom to go into that space of creative dance with colour and paint.Makes you feel alive/.
Judith Russell thanks, glad you like it ;)

Lis Engel thank you!. Yes I paint with acrylics, using acrylic medium. Glad you like it.
do you have a plan in mind before starting a painting? how do you come up with your compositions? I'm an artist and am very inspired by your work!
Louise Bova thank you very much. I improvise, I do not have a plan, or If I have one it keeps changing.
