  • Mike may have found the best Bimmer ever to restore! Its from the 90’s and has lots of potential. Or should he focus on a Ram truck??

    Mike that 740 has you written all over it. BMWs of this era are relatively easy to work on (especially compared to an S63) and parts are readily available.

      Those e32s are absolutely beautiful great handling just like their sister E30s. I love E30s I've owned several. My parents driveway looked like a mini E30 car lot. My love was a little strong when I was 17-19. 🤣

    If it goes for less than $1500, it's worth it for sure. 90's era E32 7-Series are next to impossible to find this clean!! Worst case scenario, replacement engines are fairly abundant in scrap yards.

    Mike, just stand over here by the "Should I buy the BMW' cliff and I won't push any harder than is necessary. Looks like a good car. The Ram pick up may have been good enough to have someone mess with it so it won't start. Again it's all about price as usual. The ML350 may be a good one but I'd check it over really well. Nice selection once again. Thank you.

    I would give the E32 740i a chance. Had an E 34 535i Manual from that era and actually these cars were very easy to maintain. Okay Sometimes the speedometer needed a slap with the hand so that it displayed the rpm and speed again (a problem especially in Munich, too many speed measurements by the police ;P ) but otherwise.. I should have kept it longer. It's already a classic 👍

  • @idletime
    @idletime Год назад +4

    G'mornin' Mike ☕☕ 😀 . I would jump on either the beemer or the Ram truck and try to get'em cheap. Cause it may be as simple as replacing a fuse and/or relay in the fusebox for the fuel pump, coil pack(s) or ignition that someone may have pulled to disable it & discourage others in hopes of picking it it up for circus peanuts. Remember Randy's Honda ? . It didn't run, the solution was a 50¢ fuse.
    You can arc fuses and/or relays across battery terminals to pop them, then put them back in the fuse box to disable vehicles & nothing looks outta place. Some a$$holes don't play fair but it's fun when you figure out someone's trying to run a game & you checkmate them & capitolize on it 😀 .

    My guess is fuel pump.

  • @ryanstevens6010
    @ryanstevens6010 Год назад +2

    Save that 740! That's one of the last great 7-series models (the E38s were pretty good as well), back from the days when BMWs weren't needlessly complicated and riddled with pointless gadgets. I had a 5-series of about the same vintage and loved that dashboard (it was almost identical), especially the light switches. When they moved from the E34 to the E39 the service manual(s), AKA the Bentley manual(s), doubled in size - The one for the E34 was one big book, whereas the one for the E39 was TWO huge books, one just on the electrical system.
    Back in the late '80s/early '90s a neighbor had purchased a new E32 7-series like this one, and it wound up getting smashed in their own garage. It seems that someone tried to steal my car, and rather that just call the cops I, like any pissed-off young man whose car was being stolen, went over to where my car was in an effort to get it back. I didn't think that he might have had a weapon or something - I just wanted my car back. My plan was to jump on top of the guy, shut off the car and then beat the living #$%& out of the dirty rotten little @#$*&$. Well, I sat down on top of him and fumbled for the ignition switch (where he had obviously hot-wired it), trying to shut off the car. He figured that this would be a good time for him to leave so he put it in gear and floored it. He drove through one neighbor's yard, across the street (it was at this point that I fell out of the moving car at speed and rolled down the road), through another neighbor's yard and the through their garage, smashing into their new E32. The little ##$% fled on foot but was caught by the cops on the next street as they were coming up to investigate my situation; he was attempting to break into another car which was, hilariously, unlocked. Last I ever heard about this incident was that he skipped out on a probation violation hearing - no surprise there.
    To this day, there's still a neighbor on my parent's street that has two old 7-series parked in their driveway. There's an E32 like the one you just looked at as well as a 1st generation E23 model, and both of these, like my 5-series, have manual transmissions. He also has a first-generation Acura Legend, a Honda Insight and a couple of old vans - a seemingly random assortment of miscellaneous drivers - show cars these are not. What's even more surprising is that these old cars are still there after all these decades. It's an upscale neighborhood and this collection of ancient used cars filling the driveway is quite out of place given what most of the houses look like. Despite there being an HOA there doesn't seem to be the militant crybabies that usually congregate in that type of organization, screaming "My property values! Won't somebody think about my property values?!?" 30 years ago we used to joke that the slums in that area were the three-quarter million dollar homes. That unmodified house with all of the old cars? It's one of the least valuable on the street, and it's currently valued at $1.98M...

    I was just wondering. When the ram truck didn't start you believed that, because the gas gage indicated half a tank, it had gas and that the ignition was creating spark. But in fact neither might be true. The ram fuel pump or a gas filter coul be bad and likewise there could be an ignition or other sensor problem problem. But with the BMW you immediately went for a bad fuel pump when it wouldn't start. I know that you can usually hear the fuel pump in a BMW ehe it is working but not all the time. Why not the same consideration on the ram?
