James Cameron has said that the Captain ignored warnings. This submersible has had mechanical/communication problems before. They had to sign waivers saying they were putting their lives at risk. It is too dangerous for tourist attractions. Sadly the Titanic claimed another 5 lives.

My first thought when I heard about this is that if I was down there, I would have rather imploded than to wait 96 hours for the air to run out knowing that no one could rescue me. The fact that they’re only 1600 feet from the bow of the titanic is unreal. They’ve become part of her grave.
So when thinking about whether I would want to die (in this situation obv) by slowly suffocating or by imploding, it made me think of the people above the fire in the North Tower choosing to jump so that it would be over quickly instead of waiting to burn to death.
Bummer things to be thinking about the first week of summer 😢

Like ive said before. I really hate to see these people die, but it really should be a good indicator that maybe it is time to leave Titanic alone. Losing PH Nargeolet in this tragedy is enough for me to know that Titanic wants to sleep and we should leave her alone now.
She has claimed 5 more lives without doing anything and maybe now we can respect her as the gravesite she is for over 1500 lives, now +5
I dont like the idea of this being about rich or poor. I dont think your wealth should discredit your enthusiasm for the wreck.

@Mark Allow me to give you a bit of a boost. You seem like you could use it. I'm 41 years old, and I have been a Titanic aficionado since Elementary School when I first picked up a large hardcover book with a painted ship on the cover from the school library. After reading that, I read more. Several years later I would discover the book "A Night To Remember". Then the documentaries, the Titanic movie by James Cameron, and then when I discovered RUclips I discovered a trove of Titanic stuff. Among that stuff, I discovered your channel and the absolute cornucopia of videos and information and movies and computer simulations. Thank you for your love for the Titanic and for sharing with others who love it as well. I know PH would have loved to have met you. I bet it would have been a great interview for the channel. Don't let this tragedy sour your passion for all things Titanic. Keep the story alive. ❤ Much love, brother 🤘

Waiting for news day each and especially on Thursday when the Titan crew were set to run out of oxygen was heartwrenching. i'm esp. sad about the young passenger. Known figures like Josh Gates and James Cameron turned down offers to ride in the submersible for lack of safety. Everything you said was wise, meaningful, and compassionate. Your video is very good I've been a big fan of the Titanic since I was 8 years old when they found that ship I always feared something like this would happen the used a sub that should not even have been used in a bathtub so once again history repeats itself Ocean Gate doesn't put enough safety or materials into the sub leading to its loss going down to see a ship that was also a victim of not having enough safety on board and people saying it cost too much to put all that on board leading to that tragedy people want to do things that they should do things safely and stop worrying about the almighty dollar... love your Channel👍 rest in peace to the victims from the Titanic and the Titan

Now that we know the sub was experimental and had experienced problems in the past... It's unbelievable they would use it for paying passengers. They really took advantage of those poor souls. Of course there will be an investigation, but on its face it sounds as though Ocean Gate took an insane gamble, and I hope they'll be held accountable. On the other hand, the CEO was on the sub too, so he must've had confidence in it. It's very strange, and utterly heartbreaking.
There's also a lot of schadenfreude on the internet, and shame on those people. I don't blame anyone for being captivated by Titanic.

There is a big difference between a submersible and a submarine. The US military, to my knowledge, doesn't have a manned submarine that can go that deep. I also heard that an employee for the submersible company brought up an issue previously about the craft not being safe, and he was let go. Lawsuits are coming, I'd say that company is probably finished.

The fact that all of this could've and should've been avoided makes the situation even worse. They shouldn't have gone down there to begin with. The Titanic is a mass grave for over 1000 people. It shouldn't be a tourist destination. It's completely disrespectful but if they just had to for the sake of "adventure" aka bragging rights and clout, they shouldn't have gone with a company that blatantly cuts corners. The CEO was on Mr. Krabs levels of negligence and there's so much proof of it, proof that given that they could just blow 250K like it's nothing, they should've easily found and run away screaming. This is a tragedy especially given just how they died but it's also the ultimate example of Fuck Around and Find Out. My heart goes out to their loved ones.

I mean, if you want to be safe, don't get out of bed or get in your car".....Only the elite appear to be able to take unnecessary risks in life. There should be guilt from all those involved. It was obvious that Stockton Rush should have had trepidation about this voyage and acknowledged the inherent risk. He rolled the dice. This tour was not about exploration or conservation. It was about private enterprise making a buck. Sadly, a once in a lifetime experience turned out to be just that.
