Matt's been wanting to do a green screen episode for awhile - I know he mentioned it during the set transition before Woods, and I think he may have mentioned it back when it was just Matt on screen (Bryan/Tanner/Michael/etc. off screen). It would definitely be an interesting experiment.
Tanner's face of realization after doing the toothbrush hand movements had my cackling. The edit right after was even funnier 🤣🤣 in fact, the whole toothbrush review portion of this episode was the funniest thing I've seen in a while

BUT I can honestly say after a couple astronomy classes in college we NEVER used it. EVER. We used astronomical units & lightyears, that was it. Someone had asked our professor if a parsec was a real unit of measurement for space distances. He said yes, but we'd never use it unless we actively pursued astronomy as a career. Also, to answer Tanner's question. The sun is not half a parsec away lol. The earth to the sun is 1 au. 1 parsec is about 206,000 au.
While it's not a perfect parallel, it reminds me of Rankine, a unit of temperature made as an alternative to Kelvin using Fahrenheit as it's base. It exists, but nobody uses it unless expressly told to provide it, and even then it's usually provided with Kelvin anyway.

Clicking on a far off star or nebula they give you the astronomical units or light-years. No where on that program is parsecs (at least none that I've found)
