DT said what she said and that comes with 20 years of experience of playing in the WNBA. So far, she was correct in her assessment. Clark's WNBA coach does not seen to coach picks to free up players but still Clark is playing better in her rookie season than Sue Bird (and many believe Bird was the all-time best point guard). The key to Clark being a dominant force in the WNBA is for Coach Sales to bring in an offensive coordinator, Bluder would be a good fit.

Don't you think the opposing teams know that? That's why they put their best perimeter player on her for 94 feet. When the Fever try to screen--which they also know is coming--all they are accomplishing is bringing in another defender to trap her. Run a double-screen and it brings up another defender. She needs to adjust and use the entire 3-point arc(that means baseline as well) and shoot mid-range jumpers and beat that lone defender off the dribble. Until she's able to do those things it'll be more of the same. She is best in transition but the other team has to miss and the Fever gets a long rebound or turnover for that to happen. They are not a good defensive team and allowing the other team to score negates almost all possibilities of a transition game especially with far more experienced ballers than she has faced in college. It's going to take time.

They press her and don't allow room for that step-back three. Since she can't consistently beat her defender, she needs screens. As you said, it brings another defender to help and they would rather give up a two than a three. Eventually CC will find her stride and become more consistent on offense. However, the elephant in the room that nobody is talking about is the fact that she's STRUGGLING on the defensive end of the court. Opposing guards are a lot faster and more athletic than CC. CC hasn't had to play both ends of the floor and that's definitely a new experience for her. Unfortunately, I think a lot of nights she'll be cancelled out by guards that can also score on her at-will.

She is second from the 3 pt. range. Finally, the top 10 players play on the 4 best teams. Not too bad for CC playing on the worst team in the league. Now what can be done to improve her situation? Maybe find 1 or 2 enforcers whose role is to hammer the opposing players going after Clark. Most contending teams in the NBA have such a role player. Next, she should be playing the Shooting guard. Thats what brought her to the dance, shooting. Let her SHOOT. Any coach knows if you're playing a team that has 1 or 2 shooters on a basketball team you double team them with your best defenders until the other team members start scoring.
Maybe it's just an artifact of the WNBA being a women's game, but I see way too much standing around from the entire team when they don't have the ball - including Clark.
