You can tell that Maya just puts her soul into every part of her music. It's her art, but more so, it's her putting her heartbeat in the pulse of the music and just putting herself into every aspect and it's just truly amazing to see and hear. It almost feels intimate, like we're getting to know her slowly. It's just a special experience.
15:25 What she says about the male gaze and your body being sexualized once you hit puberty is so relatable. Reminds me of one episode where I was travelling by train with my aunt and cousins (1boy, 2 girls). It was scorching hot so we were all dressed accordingly. My aunt's oldest was absorbed in her book so she didn't notice a guy was looking at her the whole time (more like ogling). Her tank top was a bit loose so it had moved exposing her belly and part of her bra... Worst thing was that my aunt said she should pay more attention next time and cover herself up so people like this guy wouldn't check her out (and she waited until we got out of the train to say it too). My uncle though who's like 26 years my aunt's senior had the best reaction, he said that this was not my cousin's problem but that the guy staring was at fault and not her, and that she should continue to wear however she pleased and felt comfortable. Could think of dozens of other examples that happened to friends, family members or me. 🤷🏻♀️
this is definitely the best maya interview i’ve seen. hearing her talking about the meaningfulness of her music and saying so many relatable things about the male gaze and how puberty changes people. maya truely gets more and more magnificent by the day. and hearing her talk about how robin is the exact same as her makes my heart TOO HAPPY. because i relate to robin a lot so maya just makes me so happy. brilliant interview.🤍
This was a great interview. I discovered Mayas music like 3 month ago and Blush quickly became one of my most played albums. It's so interesting to hear her talking about the meanings of her songs because I feel like they have all so many layers. It's almost like I can discover sth new every time I hear them or connect with it differently. I really hope she gets big and plays in Europe at some point, I would love to be able to see her live one day.
Omg this has to be one of my favorite interviews of Maya now because I love listening to her talking about her music! She's definitely one of my comfort artists. Her music resonates so much with me and she's one of my main sources of inspiration when it comes to me writing my own poetry. And speaking of, she said in this interview that she has written a couple of poems, so I really hope she gets to release a poetry book one day because I'm so interested in seeing more of her poetry. She's such a real and authentic lyricist as well as person, and I'm so proud to consider her one of my favorite artists.
Ahh I’m so excited to be watching her perform in a couple weeks. Maya has been someone I can look up to and in a way aspire to be like because no matter what she does, she does it true to herself, and what she believes in. All of her songs have such a beauty and grace ti them, but also feel like your getting to learn about a different part of her and what she’s learned through life or day to day. She truly is just an amazing artist and musican. I love her so much!
her music has changed my life. the way each song is so intricately written in extraordinary. her songs help me think in ways i never have before. i’ve never felt so connected to songs until i found her music. she is a true artist. can’t wait to experience the new one 🤍
Her songs are a magical manifestation of a beautiful soul and a true artist the new generation is so lucky as we the elders🥰Timeless!!!Wish her good luck with her precious gift and Thank you Maya from heart❤
Thank you for watching! If you liked it, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE! I’m posting three new interviews every week!

Love the interview. Really got into the nitty gritty and creative process of making the album. She’s such a wonderful artist both in music and film.
