- New description: I guess the owner who talked to me about this car was either lying to me, or he was scammed himself about the car he'd bought. He talked to me for like an hour about this car being Steve McQueen's racecar, which he supposedly had used during a Le Mans race. He was talking about all these documents that he still had, that belonged to the car and all sorts of other things. At the time, I had no idea what I was looking at, and given the Gulf race livery, I didn't have many reasons to doubt the man. But thanks to you guys, I know better now! I hope you enjoy the footage eitherway, as it was an odd experience nonetheless.
I owned (didn't build) one of these in the late 80's, it was great fun to drive. It was a little claustrophobic, so I took an angle grinder to the roof and made it into a Targa top, best decision ever. I also converted the hydraulic roof lift to use electric motors instead. Sadly sold it for quite a loss because I moved overseas.
It looks like a Nova kit car and sounds like it has a VW Beetle engine !!!
Is a kit car made for and built on VW chasis
@@johnussss yep on a type 1 VW chassis and with a 1400 or 1600cc aircooled VW engine
Nova kit car.....my mate had one....also used in the Film with Michael Crawford called Condor Man.
Incredible! Not something you see every day, let alone have a ride in! Owner seems like a nice guy
He was indeed a very nice chap!
They were called Novas and sterlings depending on where they were sold
Yo G i saw u today i was the kid shouting OOOOOOOOOOHHHH MYYYYYYYYY AYYY REV IT REV IT in the puma hoodie
The ultimate reincarnation for a dak dak
Back to the Future
What if a Purvis Eureka would look like as a Time Machine?
Nice one brother ,innit
How is that a 917k?
Que Bonito !!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
That's not a 917k
I know it's not a 917k, I never said it was.
Van Dorp Exclusive Automobiles True, I missunderstood the title. Because I watched Le Mans, the movie of Steve McQueen and I didn't knew that he raced with that car in Le Mans. Sorry if that comment disturbed you
No problem at all mate. And when looking at the comments after uploading the vid, I was in doubt about the actual origins of this car myself...or what it even is. The owner was talking to me for like an hour, saying the exact same thing as I wrote in the description. However, the Nova kit car theory looks plausible. Either the owner was deceived with a nice story and lost loads of money on a car that is basically a kit car, or he just likes to show off with a partly true/partly false story.
A little know Australian Kit Car, many had VW Bettle engines (like the one in this video), though some got V8s, or Rotaries from Mazdas.
The reason they are rare, is they are not very good.
I don’t agree, I had an original Nova with a Ford x flow, it was brilliant
Amo esse carro
Wow....
Quero um quem pôde dá um Pra mim
