- We will show you how to get rid of those expensive land lines and move to voip phone lines. We recommend two devices Cisco spa8000 and Grandstram ATA 8 port device. You will be able to keep your traditional pbx and use much less expensive voip lines.

Used this approach a bunch of times for various projects. You can as well convert SIP Trunk to PRI and feed it into the PRI Port of the PBX using an ISDN VoIP Gateway.
Nice, I use freepbx in my home
hello. can I connect an analogic phone to an ip phone using an ata device only and have a normal conversation?
I thought the phone extensions were programmed on the traditional pbx. When dialing an extension through the at a device, how does the traditional phone system know what extension to route a call coming on line 1 to?
phoneguy 101 it can be done both ways, rhe traditional pbx can give them an ext and the IP pbx can also give them an ext.
How can the ip pbx give the nortel phones extensions if there are analogue lines in the way.
phoneguy 101 u would need to talk to a someone that deals with Nortel.
Im getting confused here. you 3 analogue phones connected to the block that is connect to the old babx. Now where does the 3 lines on Linkysis come from?
from an ip pbx or a sip provider
At 1.42 he says the lines are connected to the old PABX
Can you please use a diagram?
Thami Ndlalane sorry no time but I can tell u it does work
Can I use this with a shortel phone system
Yes
excuse me can you explain the connection with diagrams?

In this case, the analog adapter is "emulating" the lines coming from your phone company (giving tones and voltage in response to data from the VoIP PBX). The VoIP PBX is doing the routing. The Nortel KSU (Key System Unit) does not know it's connected to anything other than a regular phone line. In other words, when you dial out on "line 1" on the Nortel system, it's the same thing as picking up an dialing out on any other VoIP extension registered against the VoIP PBX.
I hope this helps.
What PBX are u using
It looks like a old Norstar Meridian 308 PBX
@@bigb2littleb That's precisely what it is. They would need a complex configuration to call a specific Nortel phone from the VoIP extension unless each Nortel set had an isolated line appearance. In that case, that makes this system a 3x3, lol. There's no great way to marry this with a VoIP PBX without something like a Citel Meridian SIP gateway. Still, I love the old Nortel sets as they bring with them a happy nostalgia for me. Hope you're well, see you on your channel!
@@NortelGeek Thanks, yeah I love the old Nortel and AT&T sets. Right, they would need a isolated line appearance for each set or a newer phone system.
