Shing02 Had made a post about the history of Luv Sic and how part 5 came to be. Between 2000 and 2004 he wrote Luv Sic 1-3 with Nujabes then in 2005 he told Nujabes he wanted to write parts 4 - 6 and Nujabes agreed to produce them so they exchanged beats for a few years. Around 2009 he met a beatboxer named Jeff who at the time was battling cancer and he was a big fan of Shing02 also Luv sic part 3 was his favourite song. In January of 2010, Jeff died of cancer and Shing02 wrote the lyrics and asked Nujabes if they can use those with Luv Sic part 5. Originally Nujabes disagreed because the song seemed too dark and gloomy but eventually they agreed. But before they could release part 5, Shing02 found out about Nujabes' passing in March of 2010. He then continued onto writing the second part to Luv Sic part 5. So the first half of Luv Sic part 5 is about his friend Jeff and the second part is about Nujabes.
I like how Parts 1 to 4 are very moody and chill regarding the whole "love" theme, suddenly this came in and flips it upside down, and the "Everything's quiet" sample to emphasize it. "Till' Death do us part and it did" -- Damn.
Kinda sad that the second part of the song is about Nujabes too. "Now I hit the stage in honour of you. How's the other side? I bet it's a splendid view. No more stress for rent, or to make ends......"

Had a buddy who passed away from a really bad car crash back in 2021. A few months later i discovered Nujabes, specifically this Luv Sic Hexalogy and hearing part 5 for the first time had me in a whirlwind of emotions. To this day I can’t stop listening to his music, always excited to possibly find some new remix or just a new song in general. I come back every once in a while to this song specifically to reminisce. The one lesson I’ve learned from Nujabes’ music, is to never take anything in life for granted. No matter how good or bad the situation you are in, things can get better if you never give up hope. Rest in Beats, to all our good friends lost.

Three years ago this month someone I held very dear to me was taken from this world. Before that we had a falling out because I was a damn fool, throwing away one of the best friendships I’ve ever had. I had received the news one night after work, and couldn’t believe it. I still don’t, but I haven’t stopped thinking about her ever since then. She was on the kindest people I ever knew with two beautiful children and if I could, I’d give anything to bring her back.
Makes it even more emotional knowing Shing02 wrote the lyrics in the first half about a friend battling and passing from cancer, and the second half dedicated to Nujabes' passing... Thinking about it too long while listening makes me cry. I can't think of any songs released in the past few years that have come close to eliciting a similar reaction. Nothing "mainstream" at least.

Listening to this again as my neighbor battles a fast spreading form of breast cancer. Haven’t seen her leave her apartment in a week, and the person taking care of her and her dog says her dog is so worried it’s licked its feet raw.. cancer.. the one thing.. I always want to have the most hope. I watched my grandmother die naturally in her home of breast cancer.. she wanted to go. She was old.. and ready.. but for souls so young.. Two close musician friends of the rapper died. Including Nujabes
I wrote a comment explaining this. But I'll copy and paste it here for you.
Shing02 Had made a post about the history of Luv Sic and how part 5 came to be. Between 2000 and 2004 he wrote Luv Sic 1-3 with Nujabes then in 2005 he told Nujabes he wanted to write parts 4 - 6 and Nujabes agreed to produce them so they exchanged beats for a few years. Around 2009 he met a beatboxer named Jeff who at the time was battling cancer and he was a big fan of Shing02 also Luv sic part 3 was his favourite song. In January of 2010, Jeff died of cancer and Shing02 wrote the lyrics and asked Nujabes if they can use those with Luv Sic part 5. Originally Nujabes disagreed because the song seemed too dark and gloomy but eventually they agreed. But before they could release part 5, Shing02 found out about Nujabes' passing in March of 2010. He then continued onto writing the second part to Luv Sic part 5. So the first half of Luv Sic part 5 is about his friend Jeff and the second part is about Nujabes.
