Great videos! I have only ever done course fishing, but after watching some kayak fishing videos, really want to give this a try! I have a couple of questions if you have the time to answer mate. How do you know good fishing locations when out on the sea? How do you judge how much to drop your line when the GPS is telling you how deep the water is? What kinds of license or training do you need? How did you ever get the gonads to go out on your own for the fist time?
Hi mate, you are looking for structure in the same way you would when coarse fishing. An app like Navionics can help but your sounder will give you all the info you need. Rough rocky marks are always good. The depth to fish at- start at the very bottom and work your way up. Cod and wrasse always on the bottom, pollock will come a little higher in the water as will coalfish, pout etc. Mackerel mid water. If you fish in the bottom few feet of water you can’t go wrong really. Just let your lure hit the bottom and work it out from there 👍
Hi Alan mate, I’m using a typhoon ps330 extreme drysuit and a peak instructor pfd. Don’t forget you’ll need a waterproof floating/flashing VHF radio as well. Ideally a sounder with GPS also in case you get caught out in a fog. Thanks for the sub I appreciate it 👍
