Lovely now, with no tourists, but pre 2004 it was at its best. No tourists, no roads (there was only a dirt track from the "port" to Samae and Tian beaches), and virtually nothing built on the beaches. 2000/2001 no word of a lie, many times my girlfriend and myself would often be the only people on the beach all day. We had to rely on the motorcycle taxi to remember to pick us up at 5pm too, as there was no mobile phone coverage! LOL
I am happy for the businesses there like those small hotels. From ghost town to Hotels at capacity.👍 -That was cool of The Captain to unload your bike first when he saw you.
Oh man, I bet you were ticked off at Vee, but you were polite as you could be, PAY ATTENTION! Vee! 😁 The captain was cool, he saw you, and not the truck's driver so unloaded yours first, but I would have liked to see them unload that truck. The beach looks great, can't wait to see what the rest of the area looks like. 👍✌

We stayed at Sukkeebeach KohLarn Resort just a few doors down, I saw the places you went too, we didn’t book ahead which was a great advantage as I thought Sukkeebeach was much better, it also has a good restaurant attached and found it to be the best place to eat too, 1,000baht a night including breakfast. Also we did a deal on a Song-thaw driver 300baht for a tour of the island, a nice guy, he joined us for a meal that we gave him on another beach and we had the whole day to go the Buddha Statue and most of the beaches. Yes I think Tawean is a good choice to stay. Beyond the pier there’s a trendy bar Le Wave and next to it a brand new place with large bubble tents and lots of baths, very strange but cool!

Hi L, this was a great post, I have been to Koh Larn once and was going to stay overnight until 2 Asian guys got scammed with Jetski's hire within an hour of each other and on the same Jetski so I just got on the next ferry back to Pattaya. And to make my blood boil they were high 5'ing each other after each guy had gone 'Assisted' to I assume was an ATM. My understanding was that they have stamped that out now, regardless I will never hire a Jetski in Thailand. It is nice there and I would go again after this post and make it an overnighter. Thanks for sharing.

Only been to Ko Samet, down the southern end where few tourist go. I was in a small resort from the past that had it's own little cove, it was glorious. Noticed they were using Knobby tyres on scooters, be a good place for your moto :)

Was it an urchin? If so my friend stepped on one in Koh Phi Phi and it was recommended by a local to pee on his foot 🦶 and that took most of the pain away, I guess the ammonia in the urine does something , crazy huh !

Hello the hotel on the beach, was it beside the hotel you stayed at? Also is there disabled access on the ferry boat or even the speed boat, I am with my sister and she finds big steps hard to climb. I’m a long time subscriber and have been in Pattaya for 2 months. A small holiday from Hua Hin. Great videos and great content 🙏👍
The hotel was s little further down the beach, I wouldn't say the boats have access for disabilities but I would think the people there would assist in anyway possible getting on or off the boat.

You just ride the scooter around from beach to beach. Easy to rent a scooter for 200 a day. Maybe 300. You don't have to rent a room right on the beach. The island isn't that big. Be sure to check the hang gliding school way up no the hill.
Never ever heard the non-word “explorification” before ‘ explore’, or ‘exploring’ will do fine.. otherwise interesting. Question I’d like answered is; With a massive drop in tourism, has it caused a commensurate drop in hotel room costs?
Everytime I see a vlog of a pristine Thai beach with almost no tourists, the more I curse myself for being stuck where I am now. Even if we had all the money in the world, it can't buy a simple ticket to where we need to be.

Since then its been months going through your videos to finally see the ensuing Koh Larn videos, basically by accident. Got to admit its frustrated me thinking you had abandoned the series. Others do the same - they dont name the series so that it can be clearly followed. Yeah, I saw all the jet ski rentals on the beach, they looked legit, but I have seen the scam pulled in real time on Pattaya beach.

Most of those hotels include a rental scooter with the room. There's 4 beaches on that island. All very nice.
